My name is Xanthe Wyse. This video has captions in English to help with understanding me.
I am still under a lot of stress but I decided to do an update as there have been a lot of changes, including going private flatting for the first time in approx 3 decades (a much better option than when I lived in a hostel for a year).
I don't intend to vlog regularly but I wanted to do an update as there was a major breakthrough. I won a battle against ACC for a lump sum payment, that took over 3 years.
ACC pay for therapy for my mental injury of post-traumatic stress disorder, PTSD. The doctor who assessed me recently said the bipolar disorder could have been covered too but this needs to be done at the start. In some cases, they will cover bipolar disorder and I should have had it covered.
A doctor who used to work for them, whom they chose, assessed well in my favour, on a good day. The money has been handy with moving etc.
From what I gather, from my interpretation of what WINZ sent in writing, sensitive claims lump sum payments are exempt - but only for 12 months.
What I have learned through this process is to advocate for myself. I still have limitations eg can't work fulltime but I am doing my best to have as much independence as I can.
My most recent painting is for the ugly fence outside. It's called 'Freedom Flight'.
My books, Pet Purpose: Your Unspoken Voice and Bipolar Courage are inspired by my experiences.

Hey! The algorithm kindly brought your videos into my feed, and I can see why as we share many similar issues and struggles... I'm in Oz but grew up in NZ. Anyway, sending hugs across the pond... ❤

Awesome news. I also despise winz bazar BS with what is and what is not when it comes to assets, nothing like the poverty trap by our system, it's just stupid. Good to see a video from you.

Yes the poverty mindset is what they encourage. Would make more sense to be able to save a buffer for emergencies.
