I FEEL STUPID For Not Fishing Here In 4 YEARS!!! (Insane Underwater Geyser)

I've done a lot of fishing, caught a lot of things, and have been on some really good "bites".. Whelp, there's been one thing I've always yearned deep in my fishy loins.. A MEGA SCHOOL of wipers eating anything, and everything, you throw in their paths. Whoa, were halfway there, because they wouldn't eat topwater, but.. It certainly did seem like every single wiper on the lake, was located at this underwater geyser bubble spillway thing. This is a spot I always count out on my trips out west, but it will be back in the violation list from this point forward.

Funny, when you mentioned white bass pulling a lure out of a snag it reminded me of my "PB" wiper. Quotes because it was not really my catch. I was fishing at a spillway in IL catching white bass and hooked something weird & heavy. Turns out I snagged the line attached to a broken off swimbait in the rocks and as I pulled it in I realized there was still a fish on. Waded in and somehow was able to grab the thing, turned out to be a nice 5lber. Sat with him in the water for a while and he kicked off good, no idea how long he'd been hooked. Thought it was a white bass at first and it woulda been an IL record haha

when you're in it like that you need to move to a more massive size bait and switch. That would be the only way to target bigger fish. The smaller ones are too fast and heard together after bait. The bigger fish are not agile enough to get through the small size swarm. It's is like throwing a bite of steak to 40 small dogs and one rottweiler. What gunna happen? Exactly..."come on man!!"

I got a spot like that but it’s snook in a spillway. Absolutely insane doubling and tripling up on snook all day. And that’s just in my group! Spot fishes about 10 people max and at times 4 or 5 people got fish on and it’s a chit show

Spooks are the way to go. Big as you can get for sick top water action. Atom has some killer top water plugs. The sinking stick works awesome. 1 oz rattletraps is awesome bite when they are hitting them.

I have been there before. that's no geyser, that is the place where the water comes out of the sewage treatment plant! Watch out for the brown trout! And also the reason for the nickname "wipers", be sure to wipe your fish well before eating!

Thanks for the video Josh ! I've never caught a Wiper but have caught a few Stripers which give a good fight. The pound for pound hardest fighting fish I've caught were the Jack Crevalle down in Baja (locally called el Toro meaning the Bull.) I've never caught anything that will fight close to as hard as them for their size.

A wiper is a hybrid, part white bass and part striper. They can't breed. A wiper has broken lateral lines and they also have two patches on their tongue, a white bass has straight lateral lines and 1 patch on their tongue.
