I appreciate Vice doing this story. I was just in a restaurant where a new big fancy Escalade was in the parking lot with a Lu La Roe sticker on the back... while eating I noticed a colorfully dressed person at a table next to us and couldn’t help but hear her conversation about how great the company is and how she just toured a production facility where the workers were thanking her for her business... it was so obvious the woman is in way over her head and after hearing what this company does with coaching people into going into debt it’s really sad and I’m happy Vice keeps shining a light on this cult/pyramid scheme. Even if we have google- brainwashing is real.

This video has nothing to do with lu la roe or mlms being bad. This chick is just shitty at managing her money and didn't pay her taxes... When you overspend and don't realize you have debt, you end up like her. It's no ones fault but hers that she is where she is.

Lularoe was still a problem. It's been under legal fire for constituting as an illegal pyramid scheme; meaning it's not a company in which you can make a legitimate profit from selling to customers The profit is almost entirely contained to the pyramid of members or "consultants" in the scheme Your recruiter earned their paycheck from recruiting you and the money you spent on inventory to enter the scheme Because you have to constantly buy merchandise, you don't profit from sales to customers, instead you profit from recruiting others into the scheme, by getting a share of the money they spent buying the inventory frontload And for them to profit, they have to recruit as well, and so on Unless you are at the very top of the scheme, you are not earning money from selling merchandise, no matter how hard you try You earn by recruiting people into a scam; the profit comes from and stays within the pyramid, and that is why it's illegal This woman is an idiot for falling for it, although these scams specifically target women like her The fact she's now part of a different MLM, proving she didn't learn her lesson last time is truly where her problem is You can't win in these scams without scamming others. But only an absolute tool would sign up the scam a second time after being bankrupted once. Looks like she's only remorseful about the Lularoe pyramid crashing on her, and not the fact that it's going to crash on someone. So long as she's at the top, she doesn't care. That's an idiot with money who deserves to fail.

Often women without much of a support group or social network are the ones that will fall into this type of shit, and then their social network and support groups become full of people also involved in the scheme. They make it seem like they are this tight-nit community that all have each others backs and it's really appealing to those who don't have that in their life.
@TheSameYellowToy4 жыл бұрын
MLMs, just like cults, often prey on people who don't have a good (or any) social support group. Lonely people or people who don't have healthy relationships are a prime target for them. MLMs and cults will "love bomb" you when you're new. Suddenly, you're surrounded by tons of new friends who compliment you nonstop, believe in you, and love you so much! ...Only this "friendship" and "love" is very conditional. If you start questioning the MLM/cult or leave, all of your new "friends" will mock you and/or shun you. MLMs and cults also try to isolate their members from any opposing viewpoints. Only the MLM/cult is right. Anyone who does not support the company/cult is automatically wrong. People who don't support it are all negative, stupid, misinformed, haters, jealous, toxic, awful, or even evil people who don't want you to succeed, so you need to cut them out of your life! Your friends and family who think you're making a mistake by being part of this, and trying to talk you out of it, are all just a bunch of dumb negative haters who are only going to bring you down, they don't actually care about you like we in the MLM/cult do! And even if an MLM doesn't explicitly tell you to cut off your loved ones...their sales tactics are an indirect way to cut them off. Constantly spamming your friends and family with sales pitches on social media and turning every social interaction with them into a potential sale is eventually going to drive everyone who doesn't want to get involved with the MLM away from you...which helps solidify the echo chamber.

I sent a message to a couple of the sellers asking about the company and were they really making big bucks pushing those overpriced Wal-Mart looking clothes. Both were very dismissive in their responses like if you're not buying something they didn't want to talk. I watched a few more times because again, it was fascinating! $150,000+ sales a year... $80-$100 a night delivering food. This lady needs to take a step back and look at the costs of doing business. I mean someone who sells real estate might do 3 million in sales a year but that doesn’t mean they make 3 million dollars salary.

Who quits a job to go work for a company that has no benefits or a pension? You obviously did not put any money aside. You did not see that the company was greedy, a rip off, and becoming over saturated. 37,000. in one month and none of it invested- not too smart. How did you not pay taxes? 37,000. a month and did not pay taxes. Bankruptcy is stupid- especially round 2. You should have to sell all of that clothing first. I do hope that your current company pays for health insurance, however.
