I'm really grateful for your channel. I used to have cancer, and where I had it, it affected my metabolism and tiredness so now it's very slow and I'm more tired than usual. I've recently decided that I'm going to find ways to be more awake and start working out, and your recipes look so delicious and I appreciate that you don't make healthy food look like trash. I can't wait to try some of your recipes and make a snack city of my own! :D I'm also going to share your channel with my family, some of them are trying to build muscles and I think your channel can help! edit: Also are the vacuum bags reusable?

I believe they are reusable, josh has mentioned picking out a few and revacuuming the bag before. I assume it's a bit difficult to really clean completely though
@lillypatience2 жыл бұрын
Yes they are reusable and washing them is easy but air drying takes some time. They do stain as well. I had raw carrots in a small bag and realized I needed a bigger bag so I dumped it out and was shocked at how orange the bag was after a couple of minutes.

Josh, been loving your recipes. Tried the Nashville chicken nuggets for me and my partner and she loved them! But truthfully I just come here to hear you make fun of people who yell at you for saying 'flash freezing'. "imagine introducing these people to the world of homonyms". Gold.

What's the advantage of a Zwilling bag vs a Large Ziploc bag. You say both are fine, so I'm wondering what advantage I'd get by doing the extra flash freezing step + vacuum sealing it vs just putting it in a large ziploc bag right away?
@ben_burnes2 жыл бұрын
If you suck most of the air out of the ziploc you're probably fine. The humidity in any air left in the bag will eventually crystalize, which I think is where most "freezer burn" comes from. Also, an advantage of Zwilling is that they pay Josh to talk about it, so I guess that's something :P
@TheMealPrepManual2 жыл бұрын
The Zwilling bags are vacuum sealed so you get some extra protection. they are quite a big stronger than a regular zip lock bag. I used regular zip lock bags for years and while they do work fine, the shelf life is less and you have to be okay with more freezer burn. If you just put them straight into a ziplock bag without flash freezing any moisture would crystalize like Ben mentioned

Ive been enjoying your channel for the last year, enough to give the Zwilling Vacuum system a try and Im sorry to say its garbage. Assuming you have brand new bags and are vacuuming very dry ingredients that arent a powder its great. Trying to vacuum your left over cornstarch- time to take the sealer apart. Trying to vacuum cooked chicken that's a little too juicy- time to take the sealer apart. Trying to use a bag you've used before- 50% chance it wont be sealed next time you go looking for it in the freezer. I get it, sponsors help pay the bills, so all I ask is you tell their marketing team you are doing your end of the deal and now that people have bought their product they really arent impressed. Watching this video, of all items you've done before, its very clear its an AD for willing, so time to let them know what we think.

@@TheMealPrepManual Choke up higher on the knife. Instead of keeping your index finger straight, curl it and pinch the the blade between your thumb and your index finger. You essentially want the fattest part of the blade directly under your hand. When cutting something, you want your working material (Chicken, veg, bacon, etc) as close to your working grip as possible. When cutting down, you want to make a forward motion (pushing the knife down and through). The reason chef's knives are curved is so that you can make rocking cuts when mincing things like herbs, garlic, onion, etc. Keep the recipes coming my dude! mind the phalanges.
