Could you throw the chicken strips in the oven instead of waiting for 3 batches? Or is the idea to use the fond of the chicken to flavor the other stuff? Or are you just trying to dirty as few things as possible?

Do you have any more slow cooker recipes in the making? I've been wanting to bulk prep a variety of meals and have been considering getting a slow cooker to do it easily while I'm working at my desk at home all day.
@Fudgeey3 күн бұрын
I meant to make this when you first released the video years ago, but I just got around to it now. I made a few swaps for convenience, and it's still very tasty. I used flax instead of egg white, sugar free maple syrup, doubled the brown sugar sweetener to a half cup because I barely taste sweeteners, used a little extra carrot because I only had 1 remaining, added allspice because I was short on nutmeg, added raisins, and instead of butter, I added seed butter which REALLY took the flavor over the top, it tasted like walnut butter. The cake base is juuuuust sweet enough as-is, but I'm also cooling my keto condensed milk frosting to spread on in the morning. Great flavor without being over-the-top sweet, I like it.

I like the no-nonsense and direct video that you provide. I have been meal prepping for years now. It offers convenience and is budget friendly. I buy meat that is will expire within the day. I refuse to eat out just because I don't plan meals. I make meals twice a week that vary in recipes. I hate doing dishes everyday. The cost of a meal in Southern CA is ridiculous. It is good that we have the miney from meal prepping because my husband needs $15K worth of dental work. I am so glad we have the money and won't get into debt. We were able to stack up cash by meal prepping. It is now on to freezer cleanout where I will make meals out of what we already have.

A couple of easy variations for a dish like this: 1) Instead of adding the rice to the pan, at that point add a can of coconut milk and some broth or water (amount determined by the consistency that you want) and let simmer for about 10 minutes for the flavors to blend and the sauce to thicken. Then you can serve it as curry over rice rather than fried rice. 2) Replace the chicken with 2 cans of chickpeas (in either the fried rice or the curry-over-rice version). If you have time, you can roast one can of chickpeas separately, and put the other can directly into the curry. Then add the roasted chickpeas at the very end and you'll have a texture contrast of the softer chickpeas and the crunchy ones.

Alternatively, if you don't have day-old rice, you can cook the rice with a 1-to-1 rice/water ratio for frying-ready rice.

If you cook the rice the night before why not prep the chicken as well and let it marinate overnight?

You certainly could. I just prefer to do most of the heavy lifting in one session. Tossing the rice in a rice cooker is easy enough that I can make it happen in a snap

Love your recipes man, I have 2 which I use frequently and know by heart! But too many of them is just the classic grainy rice/potato, meat and vegetable or some baked block... which I know is a lot of foods but would be dope to see healthy cutting meal with different spirit
@TheMealPrepManual5 күн бұрын
Thank you, glad you enjoy 😎 many of them follow that same template because that is what works for meal prep. Some of the recipes that look a bit different don't always keep well in the fridge or travel well. When you say different spirit what do you have in mind?

@@TheMealPrepManual Hard to say, I am looking for inspiration so everthing that is not the classic mix is a godsend :D But for example I reeeally enjoyed the mac and cheese with roasted cauliflower and carrots, that was sick one. Cheeseburger skillet and burrito bowl also delivered. Maybe when thinking about underrepresented foods, I would think of some saucy foods, Indian sauces, lentils, tortillas could get some love, beans. Austrian/Hungarian style sauces like goulash sauce, other vegetable sauces, maybe even some strong african chicken flavors. I think I would enjoy dishes that are not the classic composition, seeing the good old box with 1/3 Rice, 1/3 veg/ 1/3 meat, or 1 to 1 rice to sauce with meat and veg can be boring. Even seeing on mealprep one bowl of..maybe lentil sauce with piece of some bread next to it sounds dope. Just thinking out loud what would be good, otherwise I am just dude looking for inspiration :D

I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that is not impressed with the glass containers. I've opened my freezer and had them slide out and hit the floor. The quality of the glass has been impressive because most of them have not broken. BUT, the lids shatter and make the dish unusable as a freezer container. I've switched to the black plastic against all that is reasonable in my head. But they work and I don't car as much if I forget one somewhere. Thanks for the video, I love your recipes!
