Sorry for the mini hiatus! Yesterday was my first day fishing in over a week... My son just got diagnosed with a rare food allegedly called “FPIES” so I’ve been taking extra good care of him this past week! The fish gods have blessed me on my first adventure back :)

Whoever is reading this, I wanted to say I hope you have a great day and that God loves you so much that he sent his son, Jesus, to die on a cross for your sins and he rose again from the dead three days later. God Bless! ✝️🙏🏼⛪️ And also, He doesn’t want you to go to Hell but he wants you to go to Heaven with him but you have to be Saved. How do I get Saved you might ask? Here are the steps below on how to get Saved! 1. Confess to Jesus that you are a sinner and ask forgiveness for your sins. 2. Believe that God sent His Son (Jesus) to die on a cross for your sins and that he rose again from the dead 3 days later. 3. Ask Jesus to come into your heart and your life and for him to be your Lord and Savior forever. 4. Build a Personal Relationship with Jesus by Praying and Reading the Bible daily and Live for Him Forever. I’m Praying for you and you are loved!!

I grew up in South Philly learning to fish the hard way by fishing the ponds at Franklin Delano Roosevelt Park. AKA "The Lakes" There are ponds on and off the golf course, which we were thrown off regularly. (No signs though) Frankenfish is PLENTIFUL there as well. In fact, it's a must kill species in PA. The best wise old saying out there for fishing is, ( Reels are made with drags on them for a reason ), and it's not to run them as tight as you can get them. Set your drag correctly and decrease your lost fish by 85 percent. If you want to keep them from tangling up in the grass then use 30 to 50lb braid and you can run your drag up, but that still increases the risk of tearing the hook out of there mouth so I tend to go with a little drag even with 50lb braided fishing line. I would have caught a lot more huge fish that I lost over the years if I would have just applied what I now know that 40 years has taught me. Hope this helps someone land a big fish instead of seeing them swim off like I have done too. Good video
@FirstLast-ks6vm5 жыл бұрын
Yeah you really shouldn't have let it go. At the very least, you need to report where you caught it to your local Fish and Wildlife. I get that they're pretty entrenched but that's no reason to release a destructive, invasive species back in to the local ecosystem.
@Billy-bn1rp5 жыл бұрын
There are far more species of fish that are much more destructive than snakeheads, plus, largemouth bass was an foreign species that was bought from South America.
@toshow2375 жыл бұрын
Outdated info bro, Fish and Wildlife is no longer concerned with snakehead reports. They stopped recommending that you report them. Believe it or not the largemouth bass is also nonnative to maryland as well. The snakehead has the same feeding habits as the bass so they really havent damaged the ecosystem at all, they occupy the same ecological niche.

Tbh snake heads are really good to eat. I don’t kill them unless I’m eating it.

wayouttatune2 neither do bass, cats, whiteperch, bluegill. They’ve been here for 9+ years and no study by fish and wildlife has shown any harm to any other fish population. Notice how he caught both snakeheads and bass in that tiny pond. So far they have shown to coexist with all the other fish populations

you should eat every one you catch or give them to people who will eat them

@wayouttatune2 youre the fool. no signs of harm to environment and all the bass population has done in maryland has gone UP. learn the facts before commenting

@wayouttatune2 bass are positively affected by snakeheads. They love feeding on the fry. I've seen 5 pound bass and 10 pound snakehead swimming together in the same water no problems.

wayouttatune2 I’m a fool because I’m not gonna kill a fish just because it “doesn’t” belong here? Snake heads are like every other fish territorial. Carp do more damage to other fish populations than snake heads. But you don’t hear oh carp don’t belong in the rivers in the USA. 😂

Fish eggs are sometimes stuck to waterbirds feet and get in al kinds of ponds this way. Great fish

Also they eat the eggs and they don't anyways digest in their system. Then they poop them out... that's a fact!

I really don't believe Snakeheads do the level of environmental damage people are lead to believe. When you get down to it and you look at the hardware of these fish they're not much different from your typical run of the mill Bowfin. They're commonly mistaken for them actually. Were they the ruthless game fish destroyers they're made out to be I highly doubt those bass would have been as healthy and as consistent as they were.

They are slightly more aggressive than bass, defend their spawn (with both male AND female), and.... Female snakeheads average about 40,000 eggs but can release up to 100,000 eggs and can spawn multiple times per year. For bass... The female will lay from 2000 to 7000 eggs per pound of her body weight. From 2000 to 12,000 eggs hatch from the typical nest, and of all these only 5 - 10 are likely to survive to reach 10 inches in length. And this is once per year. Just by sheer population, snakeheads out-populate and therefor out-eat bass.

Snakehead babies are nice and bright. Bass love eating them.
