For those confused, the reason you can't see these parts of the video is due to game progression. You're not allowed to know anything about Soldier of God's later phases until you've successfully gotten all endings on a RL1 character in ng+7 and beyond. If that sounds nonsensical, remember, he's a soldier of God. That makes him an Archangel, so yes, he can easily control reality beyond Susan Wakawaka's control.

The godrick soldier boss is by far the greatest boss fromsoft has ever created. I have beaten every fromsoft game and experienced every boss fight the series had to offer. But when i saw the godrick soldier for the first time i knew i was in for something special. Every attack of his was fast and precise, when i would dodge he would counter, when i would counter he would dodge. It was like we were doing a tightly rehearsed dance of combat, i had not felt such enjoyment and exilleration from a boss since i fought the nameless king in dark souls 3. after many hours and hundreds of deaths i knew i was getting close to beating him. His health was getting down to the half way mark and i was certain i would best him at any moment, that was until he shifted into his 2nd form. Tears of joy ran down my face as he did his new downward slash move, i narrowly dodged it. Sweat dripped from my furled brow and between every bated breath i clenched the controller tightly, every respawn at the stake of marika felt like it would be my last until finally at long last i had gotten him down to his last sliver of health. But i had hit a wall, no matter what i did i was unable to break through his defenses, i felt hopeless and lost, is this it? Is this as far as im going to get? Have i reached my limit? I was about to put down the controller and turn the console off until i remembered what the great strategist Sun Tzu had said "In war, the general receives his commands from the sovereign, collects his army and concentrates his forces." With that mantra fresh in my mind i was able to push past his defenses and deliver the finishing blow. As the godrick soldier disappeared i curled up and cried. I cried not just for my victory but for the loss of a powerful enemy that pushed me to my utmost limits, and in the end after almost 7500 deaths i had become a better person. That is why i got a tattoo of the godrick soldier on my left arm, now every time i look at it ill remember that day, the day i became more than what i thought was possible. The day that i pushed even further beyond.

Everytime you came this close to getting hit my heart stopped. Eventually he had enough of a mere mortal's nonsense and did a full map AOE 100% hit swing that even the greatest OngBal cannot withstand. The shockwave was so fast and it must have been invisible to the naked eye. Well played, Rick, soldier of god.

I've been stuck in this boss for 3 months now playing 22 hours everyday only to learn his moveset there's nothing you can do about him. his sword reaches from limgrave to to malenias feet nothing a mere man can dodge even if you use the bloodhounds step he straight up wipes you from the game and deletes your character only because he doesn't like cringe builds. In the notes it says he's weak to thrust attacks so i picked up my mohgwyn spear and guess what? he fkin MIKIRI COUNTERED me so don't ever try going that route it's a trap. His armor is immune to all damage types and reflects every single spell and incantation. After all these months i finally managed to find a way to damage him. See the spot on his helm where his face is shown the only way to damage him is to shoot lightning arrows made of placidusaxx scales. But that only takes you in his phase 1. In phase 2 he turns into a titan and destroys the whole cave leaving you no room to escape so it's literally impossible to beat this guy. Let's hope in a future dlc we could finally find a weapon that can slay this god

I woke up today tired from a long night of work, and having doubts about the future. I haven’t had an easy life, and stuck in a dead end job with no promotion in sight I’ve started to feel hopeless about my lot in life moving forward. I was just about to once again sink into my own thoughts of inadequacy and hopelessness when I saw this video in my recommended feed. We’ve all seen Ongbal doing his best to defeat every boss in Elden Ring, even showcasing his immense talent by doing certain bosses without armor or taking any damage. Sure, some of them were less impressive due to how easy the bosses were (Melania and Elden Beast to name a few), but still he marched on in his quest for success. Still, despite his tenacity, I always thought his journey to become the true Elden Lord was hopeless. While some of the easier bosses might’ve been bested by Ongbal, I saw the elephant in the room that all Elden Ring “pros” refused to address. Scattered in The Lands Between are eldritch horrors and creatures that defy imagination and strike fear in all who are foolish enough to face them; however, the true horror has always been Soldier of Godrick. I remember on my first play through the sheer incredulity I felt coming across such a monstrous figure. With his towering 6’ frame, and that lustrous armor glistening despite the darkness of the cave he crawls out of, truly this boss broke the mold. I’ve seen the best players of the game too scared to post their run-ins with this behemoth, as they all cowered from his difficulty. I’d truly given up hope on anybody beating this monstrous boss, and laughed as the supposed pros tried to hide their inability to defeat Soldier of Godrick by posting videos of flashy boss fights without taking damage. Just like my job I thought there was no way to reach true success, a blade hanging above their necks they could never truly escape, as this insurmountable mountain of a man defended the title of true Elden Lord for years to come. I’d given up hope entirely until watching this video. Despite Ongbal being felled in the end, I was beyond shocked that somebody could fight Soldier of Godrick to such a close match. True, he still had 20% of his health left, but for the first time I saw the insurmountable obstacle cracking under Ongbal’s relentless pursuit towards success. Despite the insurmountable challenge, Ongbal never has given up; fighting in the shadows while others have cowered away, I can’t begin to imagine how many hours he has spent being ruthlessly torn apart and spit back out by Soldier of Godrick, only to stand right back up and challenge him again. Perhaps this boss, this last stalwart champion will forever remain undefeated. We are humans after all, struggling in life to run from our inevitable demise. But Ongbal has shown me that he’s never given up hope. Ongbal has stared into the abyss, and when the abyss stared back, remained unfaltering in his endless battle against fate. Soldier of Godrick may not be defeated in my lifetime, and perhaps not my children’s either. I’m sure Ongbal himself has probably accepted that he may be defeated in the end as well, but he marches on regardless, firm in his resolve. And I find myself wanting to do the same. Despite the endless monotony of my job, despite the inability I still see in finding my place in this vast world, I’ve found a new resolve to never give up in the face of failure. Perhaps I’ll be defeated by life as well, perhaps I’ll never get that promotion or find a higher meaning to my life, but at least I’ll have tried. Never give up and continue marching on. You may never accomplish your end goal, but through your failures you will at the very least have overcome your past self and improve beyond the self imposed limits you were chained by. And who knows, just like the Soldier of Godrick might one day be felled, perhaps you too can succeed against impossible odds.

It's only fitting for Soldier of Godrick to be such a difficult boss. Lesser bosses give you pithy "remembrances" and "runes" - if you can defeat the Soldier, you earn Strength. The tutorial exists to instruct the player, and the Soldier's lesson is "give up". Edit: sorry, I didn't mean to suggest I have personally defeated Soldier of Godrick. My knowledge of the boss reward is something I learned from dataminers.
