You actually have to love the fact that at the final showdown in the undergound of alabasta croc and luffy literally said "Screw devil fruits we throwin hands from now on" it got so gritty and violent from that point on it was bloody dirty grimy everything and i love every second of it

Crocodile was fr very cold and calculating throughout the entire thing bro the part where vivi reached the tower to put out the bombs rope that was finna ignite just for it to actually have a ticking time bomb in store too is the highest level of hater energy I could ever possibly imagine 😭
@LOCKIN16219 сағат бұрын
Crocodile was hands on the definition of "If you want something done right, you've gotta do it yourself" everything about him felt so real and unbelievably sinister and your 100% about the No backstory that's what makes him so mysterious and almost alien it's to a point where we still find him a mystery to this day he is such a great villain notice how when the previous one piece villians before they were sorta slightly stressing out or a slight bit of panic would come when their plans were going to rubbish crocodile never had that instance ever really says alot btw bro was legit the King Von of alabasta

CROCODILE STANS, CROCODILE MERCHANTS ASSEMBLE This was the very arc where the stakes felt alot moee grandiose than ever a LITERAL country was on the line here

The first hints of Zoros racism showing.. "Make the grandline great again" Karoo might just be a war hero cuz the guts he was showing was insane i knew youd like karoo since 🦆, watching him covering vivi while getting trampled really did it for me alot Crocos debut and entire sthick was awesome Warlord/Mob Boss/Assassin/ Genocidal Influencer/ Businessman/Aura Radiator.. what more can you ask for with a package such as this there was not 1 time where crocs had a silly or goofy moment hes just so good man it moves me

IT'S HERE RAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH The editing here is so good honestly guiezao really outdid himself ima be so real you saying "We are back with some more One Piece" Honestly put a smile on my face heavily and I don't know why this arc was fantastic everything before than building up to alabasta was masterful work with a gradual steady build up of events like Lougetown, smoker tashigi, Ingram, the baroque works island, drum island etc alot of time was put there Crocodile was absolutely magnificent there was 0 Goofiness, Games with him as say for wapol he was just straight standing on business for breakfast, lunch and dinner with desert afterwards he was genuinely terrifying how you are currently in his habitat which being sand so he has endless possibilities on what he can do croc is one of 7 warlords for a reason stern and red alert 24/7

Oh yeah forgot to say just going on to mention Crocodile literally had no time to rest at all between all of those fights btw he was worn out while luffy had prep and rest to recharge croc had non of that and was still giving luffy hell while winning

Alabasta was honestly great I genuinely love the fact that crocodile drills through your head that his not an east blue villain if that dude wants business done he will get it done like crocodile literally beat luffy 3 times it goes to show how dangerous of a threat he actually is

Trust me, death is fragile in this series, a lot of characters can just survive some brutal "killings", but, when a major character dies, it, hits, HARD. Overall a majority of deaths happen in flashbacks, when a flashback shows a lovable character that you haven't seen yet, they gonna die in a brutal way.
@shotguncale913211 сағат бұрын
I agree. I know a common complaint about the series is Oda's use of fake out deaths but I view it as him saving deaths (outside of flashbacks) for impactful moments, which makes sense as this is still a series that is meant to be read by kids and young adults. I know it's a bit of a cop out but there is some truth to the idea that getting your dreams crushed is worse than death in a world built on dreams.

Impel Down shows why it's worth it to not kill characters. That is how One Piece is as a story unlike JJK that kills too many characters but again, different people prefer different stories altough One Piece is The pinnacle of fiction in this era.

One piece will always subvert your expectations because he really is a good writer, listening to his editors. He got some great advice and it really helped him write. Good backstory for everybody. I’m really excited to watch you go through the story. It’s very good and heart breaking sometimes.

Yeah the first couple of mini arcs in this saga Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak and Little Garden are seen as some of the more meh arcs in the story because they are fairly short, but they do a lot of important ground work for the rest of the saga and even beyond when it comes to worldbuilding and setup. But they still offer some great moments.

Love the video man! I mentioned this in a reply as well but I think its worth repeating, Oda not killing characters when they look like they should die is an ass pull but it also helps to keep the story from getting too dark for a manga aimed at kids. You'll see it more as you go through the next two sagas but Oda doesn't shy away from adult themes, he just saves deaths for important moments and emphasis. When villains like Arlong and Crocodile survive their ass beatings, they still get their ambitions and dreams crushed by Luffy, which is a pretty severe fate in a world built on dreams.

Man, I love Arabasta. One of my fave arcs (nostalgia takes part of the blame for that). And about Vivi just screaming her lungs out at the end, I've seen this complain a lot of times, but it's not that deep. She tried everything she could before. Starting years before, when she infiltrated Baroque Works trying to leak the plans, and then in Arabasta, sending messages to the king, trying to blow up the palace, revealing the truth to Koza, stopping the cannon on the clock tower... she just was exhausted and desperate at that point, that the only thing she could do was screaming trying to reach her people to stop. I personally think it was perfect, and very humanlike. I could feel the impotence and the desperation in his face.

Death in One Piece are a thing, but some people HAD to die and didn't. It's a problem for sure. Also, One piece is better enjoyed in memory. You'll look back to this arc and notice a lot of things in the future.

Damn I loved watching this video. The way you describe your reactions and thoughts on your OP journey is bar for bar the same exact kind of emotions I was feeling especially with the story of Hiriluk and Chopper, OOOUGH the way you talked about it brought me back to when I was first watching it. One thing about the strawhats is that yes Luffy and Zoro are cool, stand on big business and get it done, but it’s great to have characters who aren’t strong because it’s their pride and compassion that is the reason that they’re part of the crew. I feel like attributing their strengths with regular conventions like skill and power will only get you to like a certain archetype. For example, with Vivi, her only goal was to stop the fighting by putting herself in between the crossfire, but you can’t expect her to put her arms up and fight the people she wishes to protect so she does everything to avoid casualties even if her actions are completely overlooked. That commitment to her goals, even if it’s hopeless, preserves her convictions and her pride as a princess and I think that makes her strong. I bring this up because I’m already seeing some things that will come up sooner or later in the story regarding strength and I can’t wait to see how you react to it!

I can't wait to hear your opinion on Nico Robin, she's one of my favorite characters in the entire series. Also the next arc is amazing, I think it reflects One Piece at its best: Perhaps Oda's best artistic peak, so many interesting characters introduced, lore elements (I think volume 25 is one of the best volumes of the series), character interactions, some of Luffy's best moments, Robin's development over multiple arcs, world building, diversity of themes,side characters and emotional pay-off. A lot of these things are a testament to how Oda has evolved as a writer over the years. Sadly a lot of people dislike Skypea, partly due to the anime's inability to have consistent pacing, so it would be interesting to have a fresh and non-biased opinion from a manga reader, whether it's positive or negative.
