Love the prayer at the beginning. I do the same before my flights. Man I grew up north of you in good ol’ Meadville.

Ask one of the major parts of my checklist! I either do it in the plane, or on the way to the airport, but prayer is a must. And I think I remember Meadville. Anyway, be well.

Awesome to see this video. I used to fly a 172 into Allegheny County and also 9G1 before it closed down. For me a 5-hour flight with one fuel stop at Chattanooga. I made this flight probably 50 times.

This has to be your best yet. Flying to see your mom is just so beautiful. Times like these when I miss my parents and grandparents so much. So many family members and friends that I would have loved to share this journey with have passed on. Makes me cry not having our daughter with me now to do this. Hope you got video of your mom's expression when you drove up :)

Hey Marty, this is such a beautiful comment. You are absolutely correct, it was such an amazing experience to completely surprise my mom after having flown myself out from Philadelphia to Pittsburgh. She was absolutely floored. The thing that I find beautiful about your message, is it reminds me not to wait to do things. People will be gone, and I don't want to miss any opportunity to share this Aviation journey with as many of my family members as possible. Take care brother, I hope we get to do some flying shortly. Have a great weekend!

@RusscanFLY

Yep this was the longest so far. I believe it was 224 nautical miles if I'm not mistaken. For me, I just wanted to make sure that I had all my flying over the mountain issues dealt with. It was definitely a clear day, but it was a little windy, so I had to make sure I plan for any potential mechanical turbulence. Anyway, thanks for the positive feedback, and the support over the many months. It's been greatly appreciated.

Congratulations! This is so cool! Yeah; it's often confusing trying to figure out who to call for flight following, especially when you're in the vicinity of an approach control. Who has jurisdiction over you may depend on what altitude your'e flying. I've been flying a cross-country, and then decide to shift up or down 2000 feet for clouds or winds or something, which then forced the controller to have to pass me off because I'd swapped from one juristiction to another.
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! It was definitely such a thrill to fly home to see my mama. I really agree with your observations about flight following. Until I read your comment, I didn't think about the fact that maybe my altitude was also an issue. Definitely something I'm going to pay more attention to as I continue to fly further and further. Take care, and thank you for the support.

When I departed from Wheeling Ohio airport to Doylestown on my first plane. Each mountain you're flying over was scattered clouds and I was cloud surfing the whole way. It was fun. Fly Safe! What's your longest nonstop flight you done so far?
@RusscanFLY
@RusscanFLY Жыл бұрын
That sounds like that was a lot of fun. I would say, since that's my first time over a lot of those mountains, it would definitely be a little nerve-racking. My flight from Doylestown dyl, to Pittsburgh AGC, is my furthest flight so far. I believe it was $22 nautical miles. It definitely took a little longer too because I had a nice stiff head one going west. Fly well!

Work on your initial call-ups. Also, you didn’t say the current atis, and should have, the controller didn’t ask for it, and he should have. It’s good you weren’t looking for the golfer, he hasn’t been at the airport for a long time,lol. FYI, Apart from golfing, he was an accomplished pilot and owned many Citation jets, the last one was a C750, all with the tail number N1AP. It’s still kept at LBE.
