I have a LP studio, i have an American Standard strat, I love them both. You gotta pick the tool for the job though. In my case, It depends on my mood. I love my PRS but it's honestly the one I play the least (Custom 24). It's amazing, great sound, amazing quality, but it just doesn't make me smile quite as much as my old Silvertone. It's one of the three guitars my dad left me when he passed last year. He always kept that 1445, a 1947 Martin Acoustic, and an old micro fret guitar next to his recliner. He swore old instruments will always sound better than new ones. That's in the ear of the listener but for feel, I understand what he meant.

Used for the price of a new LP Standard (sadly, that economy is gone!). it's ridiculously good. Everything I ever heard in my head for vintage LP sound (not the modern 80's LP sound)... Like a Tele with some extra girth. Open, airy neck tone with a woody character (NOT wooly). Biting Bridge with sparkly clean, growls when you dirt it up. And a spanky middle position that's really an overlooked gem of toney goodness. Great fit and finish, great fretwork, nut, and stays in tune just like my AmStd Tele. None of the 'infamous' tuning issues -- because it's bang-on set up from the nut to the bridge, as it should be (and need to be, as the design isn't forgiving of deviant setup). Jazz to Zep, it's all in there with everything in between. Cured my lust for an LP with zero regrets or disappointment after a lukewarm relationship with an LP Studio/Tribute model.

I love the double cutaway with easy access to the 22nd fret ... I once played a LP as well as a Strat ... and also a 1955 ES-125 thin hollow single cutaway ... but I can play all perfectly on the 335.

Yeah, back in '09 I think it was, Gibson started a "female/old people guitar" (which of course they didn't brand it like that), but the commercial was "exactly the same Gibson you love, exactly same sound you love, less than half the weight". And it was a woman guitarist, the one who played for Jaggedy Ann, who took part in it. So it was quite clear that it was a guitar to be easy on the back and highly weight relieved.

You're so true on that extra piece of wood, I keep telling that to everyone and people look at me like being crazy. They can't hear the difference. I do believe that part of the LP body and switch routing resonation actually make LP tone so special, fat and murky. They do fade, just slowly. My SG from 2017 has faded a bit. The part where my arm rests is fading and the back of the neck is fading. I got a dark cherry burst sg standard and the back of the neck was more or less black when I got it new. Now it's a burgundy red where I've been playing it. I've got two; they're called "Classics." LP Standard level of binding, "60s Slim Taper Neck," one is all mahogany, the other a "normal" maple cap, but I swapped the stock pickups for the 57 Classic and 57 Classic Plus that went into the "Historic" reissue guitars. (They're *exact* replicas of the original PAF humbuckers.) And yes, the standard Gibson LP neck, aka "the baseball bat," is not nearly as comfortable to play.
