14:40 With every guitar you should reduce string tension to almost slack before attempting to adjust either the bridge height or saddle positions. Bridge components are often made of Brass and will prematurely wear and/or damage the threads if moved under string tension. Love this GOTM, wish Gibson would do something like this again.
@RideAcrossTheRiver13 сағат бұрын
Are you saying to get strings to slack for adjustments of .001 inch? How is action to be set 3/64" treble and 5/64" bass on a loose, flopping string?

The ES175 and ES295 are my dream guitars. I love that Florentine cutaway. I own an ES175 copy (that is absolutely awesome for the price my wife paid for it) and an ES Les Paul Hollow Body with the F holes. I actually just got a Bigsby for my ES 175 copy, some locking tuners, a roller bridge and some vintage voiced Alnico 5 pickups. Looking forward to upgrading it.

Love those Florentine cuts, and appreciated all the detail about the Bigsby and the “snakebite”. Looks great w/o the pick guard, but I guess the proper thing is to have it on 🫣. Nice to do the side by side with the Mary Ford too!

There’s one Gibson Hollow body id love to have in my collection. It would be an ES-295. Just something about it that looks so vintage, but looks so cool. But for a single cut size, it looks cool as well. Add the F holes, and you got a really cool LP size 295.

Noticing all the variances, even though they're of the Gibson brand, I wondered how the thing would sound. I gotta say, these are some fantastic, classic tones coming from this one. It really sounds sweet to me. Note on the body - that finish is such that you really can't see the blemishes on it, unless you're really getting up close and personal with it.

Interesting that this has a licensed Bigsby rather than a patented version (i.e the latter being more expensive variant) however online images appear to show that they were all fitted with the licensed version so it hasn't been swapped out by someone looking for a quick (but small) profit

@Trogly: There is math to estimate the total number of guitars based on a sample of the serial numbers. Interestingly the origin of this branch of Mathematics lies in WW2, where the British and Americans were able to produce pretty close estimates of German tank production based on the serial numbers of parts in captured tanks.

Best thing you can do with a bigsby is swap the string bar for a string through one. It’s reversible and makes it actually playable.

When archtops with Venetian cutaways tend to have wider or more bulbous horns, it just feels wrong to say the normal Les Pauls narrow horn is Venetian just feels wrong. Size wise it is closer to Florentine but without being as pointy. There should be a designation in between, if there isn’t already. And if anybody knows of one, please comment on this and let me know.

Could you or somebody explain the scale measurement to me? That tape measure is weird in that it has inches at the top and half inches at the bottom. So it looks like what you're measuring is 24 and 3/4 half inches. Explain please.
@aluminati991813 сағат бұрын
Hi. Good question, and you’re not the first one to ask. It’s a special measuring tape with full inches and inches at 1/2 scale. This way you can quickly measure scale length by just taking a measurement at 12th fret, using the 1/2 scaled inches numbers. I’ve never seen it other than in Trog’s vids. 😅
