This guy threatened me online in a video game. He told me to give him my address so he could come beat me up. I told him the city and gave him my phone number and told him to call me when he got into town. That way he couldnt wuss out and say that he showed up but I wasnt home. He called me a few moments later to confirm the number was real. We had a good conversation. We met up later that week. It was fun.

Not a online friend but more , ”started out as friends and ended up having feelings for eachother” thing . Welp , we had been talking for 5 years and 1 1/2 romanticly . We agreed to finally meet as he had just started his education an hour away from my town - in my country (he was from Holland) . Im waiting at the train station and I see him starting to walk up to me , looking up from his phone and we making eye contact . Then , he makes a ”Ugh no” kinda face and just turns around - just when I was about to walk up to him . I just stood there all confused and wondering if it wasnt him , then realizing No I was talking to him on his way there . So he probably saw me from a distance and then read what I sent , walked up to me and when close - figured I wasnt good looking up close and just bolted outta there . Later that day I just wanted an answer and asked him about it , ”You looked different and sorry but youre not my type” . Sure I was heartbroken and felt like shit , but Im happy he sorted himself out of my life for me . Really want those 5 years back though . (We knew what we looked like btw)

Thank you all for the nice comments , This happend in August last year and I don’t really think about it too much anymore but It did set me back with my confidence again (childhood bullying sucks) and Ive just learned to take everything with a grain of salt . Sure it was absolutely horrible at the time and thinking about it makes me mad , but Im glad that he atleast did it *BEFORE* a relationship had molded . That wouldve been a bigger hit to the gut I think , so really - Im just glad he got rid of himself for me 👏🏻

I had a similar "horror" story with a guy I met online. So, I was in a big group chat, and it was with a bunch of people who plays games in Oklahoma and Texas. I wasn't super close with a lot of them, nothing more than like calls on discord while we played. Well eventually this guy invites me to a gun show outside of Dallas and it's mid summer, and I wanted to take a drive for the day, so I headed over the 4 hour drive to Dallas. Something to note about this guy is that he was a bit too personal and talked about hugging people a lot (guy had no disabilities, was just kinda touchy). Well, I get there, and he immediately hugs me (I don't really mind, I knew it was coming) but that's not the horror part. He also knew my boyfriend (long distance, been together for years tho), and during the gun show, my phone had died. He took this opportunity to message my boyfriend saying that I was leaving him, and would rather spend the day with him. Me having no clue about this, I continued to hang out for the day. Eventually I get back to my car after a few hours to find that my boyfriend had blocked me, and I had no clue why. I didn't think too much of it, as it could have been a misclick or a friend of his messing with him. I get home after the 4 hour drive to see a ton of messages my boyfriend had left me about the guy. I immediately confronted him about my boyfriend, and the guy tried to comfort me saying if I was upset I could drive back and stay at his place so I wouldn't have to be alone. Blocked him pretty quick, and found a way to explain it to my boyfriend. Boyfriend messaged him again to see if it was true, blocked the guy, and we spent the next day talking about how horrible that was. The guy still wants to date me and will make me feel guilty about "leaving him". 2/10 experience: I got a sweet medieval flail at the gun show that I have hanging on my wall, so the trip wasn't a waste.

I met my boyfriend on World of Warcraft. I had joined the guild he was in and there was a large world pvp battle going on between the servers largest rival faction guilds. I asked in chat "who wants to go duck the Alliance up with me?". We became fast friends from that point on and continued to be for many years before we got together romantically. We have been a couple for two and a half years now and I can't imagine life without him :) He is my very best friend. Meeting him in person for the first time was a wonderful experience, I was nervous at first, but we had talked openly about it and how we would meet and it was like it always had been between us. Don't be afraid to meet your friends, just be careful and have a backup plan in case things do go south!

Pretty much the same deal here. One of my friends is getting married later this year and he invited the main group of friends (8+) and their families to the wedding. A portion of the main group have already met twice over the years. But I think the wedding is going to be the first one I go to? I missed the meetup that was scheduled just a week ago bc of money. Met my best mate on MW2 10 years ago. We live on opposite sides of the country and I’m poor, so I can’t really afford to buy a plane ticket and take time off work to see him, but I did once. When we first met it was during the “clown” thing in 2016 so on the first day, within hours of me meeting this man, he proposes we should go clown hunting in the empty woods and I should walk in front. I was a bit suspicious, but I trusted him. We just ended up exploring the woods a bit. After that we spent the week hanging out, partying, and getting wasted. He’s still my best friend even though we’ve only met once. We game together all the time and I’ve now gamed with a lot of his real life friends. They’re all chill and very accepting of me, and have all offered to chip in a bit to get me to fly back over for another visit.

Also not a Horrorstory: When i was like 13 years old i watched many let's play's and stuff. And there was this youtuber i'd watch very often and i kinda had a crush on him. One day he stopped uploading. Every now and then i would check if he uploaded something. He wouldn't upload anything for years. A bit more than a year ago i broke up with my ex who used to manipulate me and also was mentally unstable. Not long after that i got very ill, couldn't leave my bed, had fevers and lost much weight. I didn't go school anymore. I went to so many doctors and nobody knew what was wrong. My Parents told me i was just simulating and needed a psychologist. Until one day after a certain blood test, i was finally diagnosed with EBV and chronic Lyme disease. Everything changed after that day, and I spent much time at home alone. At one point, i didn't want to live anymore, because the disease had taken away so much from me. I remember one day, i was thinking of that youtuber again i watched as a kid. I looked up his page and found out he was now streaming on twitch. I was really happy and started watching him again. He'd sometimes play with his viewers and that's how we met. After that we talked almost every day and it really made me feel better and when i spent time with him, i forgot the disease and everything negative. A few months later, my parents were planning to do a city trip and it happened to be the city he lived in. So we finally met in person and got together shortly after that. It's been more than a year since that day and I am enjoying my life again. He is the most loving and caring person i know and I'm glad I found him again after all that time. I starting chatting to this guy on a Facebook group after realising we had the same taste in music. I was 16 at the time and he was a year older. We chatted on messager for about a week, then moved on to Skype. We video-chatted for the best part of a year and there were no problems. We both stated early on that we liked each other and talked about jobs, university and family life. I knew his mother was on benefits because she couldn’t walk very well and he had two cats. I’m not a cat person but I said I liked them. After about 18 months he asked if it was okay to meet and I said yes. The day arrived and he hopped off the train and immediately I knew it wasn’t going to work out. All he wore were band t-shirts and ratty jeans, even though I told him we were going to a fancy restaurant that night, and most of all he smelled of cat pee. Like, overwhelmingly. And it was after talking to him in person it was apparent that he didn’t seem very motivated to do anything, he just wanted to lay in bed with me and watch movies. I managed to get through the next three days and as soon as he was on the train home I broke up with him. Older me always regrets not waiting until he got home to do this but I didn’t want to lead him on. We’re still friends on Facebook and he seems to be doing okay.

Back in the early (ish) days on IMVU I had a few good friends that I'd rp with and one of them was really close to me. We stuck together for years and talked every time we logged in but it wasn't until I finished secondary school (aged 16) that he started hinting about meeting up. He had told me he lived in the Netherlands and I lived in England so I said there wasn't really no way that we could meet (I'm scared of flying, I get travel sick on long journeys and I was a 16 y/o about to go into college with hardly any money.) He seemed to relent and we kept talking but he started digging for information and me, being a naive idiot, told him the shire the town I lived in was located in. I was in my first year of college and came home to be told that a man with a moteorcycle and a beard had asked if her daughter was in when my Mum had answered the door (my friend was always bragging about riding motorbikes.) My Mum asked which one (I have two sisters) and that threw the man off track causing him to leave. My Mum said he looked like he was in his late forties. I logged on to talk to my friend (not thinking it had been him) and he wouldn't answer me and stopped talking to me altogether over the following months. I found out through mutual friends that he'd told them he'd travelled to see me but that I was an older woman and after that he'd started talking to a new girl - I'm not sure how old she was. What gets me is if he was in his late forties when I was in my first year of college (16 y/o) I would have been around twelve when we started talking and though he never asked for pictures he did talk suggestively to me and he also told everyone he was the same age as me. I dread to think what would have happened if I'd been home.

I was friends with this girl for years. Not in any kind of romantic way (at least on my end), and eventually after some really horrid life experiences, I decided to move to where she lived, literally across the country. She was moving out of her place into a new apartment with another person, who I had become friends with. So, I made plans, got my plane ticket, and moved down. Less than a month later, the new friend and I move out because my old friend turned out to be a paranoid schizophrenic, who had lied to me so much that Im genuinely uncertain if we had ever spoken without her lying about something. She threatened to kill me in several ways, and when we moved out, tried to get us to move back in by threatening to call the police and accuse us of theft of her things. Thankfully, she didnt do that, and we havent spoken in a long time. Part of me really hopes that she got the help she needed, because she had these moments of genuine goodness, but her mental health was so bad that it just destroyed her life around her. I ended up marrying the new friend, and have been happily married for 5 years.

Okay so here's a happy story: Six months ago i put a poll on my Instagram story asking who wants to join an lgbtq+ groupchat where we could spam gay memes and talk etc. This one girl i've never talked to before wants to join, and so i add her to the group. She turned out to be simply amazing and cheerful, and wasn't faking depression like most of the people i've met on the internet in the past. She was genuine, kind, sweet and always thought about others and never offended anyone. We started talking outside the groupchat, and i eventually developed a crush on her. After three months, i told her i liked her, and just when i was ready to jump out a window because of what i had done, she said that she liked me too. We then started dating, and video chatted a lot. Then, she said that she was coming into my town with her sister and her sister's friend. It was fourth of July, the day stranger things third season came out, and Americans were celebrating their independence. Good day. I woke up at 5:34 because i was so excited. When i finally saw her standing at the train station, and she sees me, we can't help but run to hug eachother. best hug ever. We spent ten hours in total just talking and also hugging a lot. Literally three seconds after she left, i broke down crying. She also cried. We both cried, in different locations. That day and her amazing company keeps me alive when my anxiety is stabbing me. She's simply amazing, and i love her more than anything.

What's going on?" and, basically, he told me he wanted to pay me money to have sex with him. he knew i was a lesbian, he was one of the first people to know after i figured that out in early high school, and he'd supported me through it. stunned and internally disgusted, i politely declined and told him it was fine, and he accepted that, but then he asked for pictures for money instead. gave me a $ rate per pic and everything. i was horrified at this point, i said no, and he kept asking, saying he'd just "always wondered what i looked like." that honestly made it feel like i never knew the guy. he always had these intentions. a day before he started his trip to my state, i told him i had a family emergency and wouldn't be home to hang out. after that conversation, i removed and blocked him on all social media. he never tried to contact me again. /shrug

Saw this cake from Portal and left a comment saying I loved that game and a joke about flirting with cake cos he'd put hearts as a border to the picture. This turned into a conversation and, eventually, a relationship. We sent pics, he looks like a serial killer in his and I looked fat in mine (still do). We met six months later. He was chubbier than I first thought, is chubbier still now! (It's cute. It's my bear belly. :3) We've been together ten years and I remember the day we physically met perfectly because it means a lot. So there you go, my one meeting. A nice story instead of horror.
