Respect to Yowana and the slugs for putting that work in

The Vongo is the most returned shoe at the store I work at. Now that they've taken the post out of the 860 and added the EVA film like the Vongo has, I don't see any reason New Balance needs to continue the Vongo line.

Agreed - other than the softer upper, the 860 felt so much better in every way. Lighter, easier to run in and more fun

agree. nothing special. actually is a step back from Vongo v5, and it’s too low at the back meaning the foot sits too high on the shoe. i returned it.

This is exactly the video I was looking for. I need a stability shoe and 860 is my next shoe. Thank you!

Appreciate the stability shoe highlights! To your point, definitely more of a niche category for runners, but def worth looking into. I ran a half marathon recently in the NB Supercomp Elite V4's, and while smashing those faster paces felt smooth, I did develop considerable ankle and achilles pain in the last couple miles (due to some overpronation). You can say my feet are in need of a decent stability shoe atm 😅 Vongo is a miss, but the 860 looks to be a solid contender. Thanks for the timely insight and reviews!

Dude I‘ve watched this year Western States 100 over the KZbin livestream and I‘m so inspired by this incredible performances from Jim and Katie 😍😭 The finish where I cried the most was the finish of second and third men 🔥🔥🔥 I was so amazed because they finished 16 seconds apart from each other 🙇♂️🙏 They‘re all real stouts in my eyes because they worked so hard on the road what led them to that startline 😃😃😃😃

I’d love to see a comparison between the 860 and the More v5, which supposedly has some stability elements. Related: “Inherent stability” should be tossed into the bin of meaningless buzzwords. There’s nothing “inherent” about giant sidewalls added to increase stability. Sidewalls, guard rails, wide base, medial post - they’re all extrinsic!
@supwell3 ай бұрын
That's a great comparison idea. Also I talked about the inherent stability in my video going up tonight - surprising spoiler alert but I'm pro-inherent stability as a phrase 😂

I had to return the Vongo v5. It was one of the most uncomfortable shoes I've ever worn. I think the v5 was a bit different than the v6 in that it had a very firm medial post.

I overpronate slightly but never ran in stability shoes until I tried out the Vongo V6. Hated it after .15 miles and immediately returned them. Got the 1080v13 instead. 50 miles it and loving it.

Loved the Vongo V5. I’m a heavy runner and got them to 350 miles and I was happy with that. I tried the Vongo V6 and they were decent up until mile 180. After that my feet (notible my left foot) was just aching during the runs. Disappointing but now rocking the Novablast 🙏✅
@mlg19963 ай бұрын
Thanks for reviewing the Vongo. My thoughts, 1080 neutral price/ quality/feel➡Vongo; 880 ➡860. If you look closely, 860 and 880 have the same similarities, front, top, outsole, eyelets, just as the 1080 has to the Vongo. What about the More v5?

Does the 860 have a forgiving fit? I really like how the rebel fits. Is it comparable?

Hey there I’m looking for I new shoe I have the sl2 as my main daily trainer and I love it but my novablast three are pretty much dead so I need another daily shoe but I’m also increasing in mileage and I’m needing a long run shoe. I was thinking about picking up the prime X strung 2 and seeing if it could be used for both otherwise I am open to buying up two shoes respective to their own category just wondering your thoughts
@fredriksvard26033 ай бұрын
Exact same situation, sl2 and dead nb3 (after shockingly few miles). I'm thinking - sl2 and similar shoes for long and recovery runs too. I'm done with mushy marshmallow shoes. I have a pair of vongo but i don't use them. They're not even soft, i don't see the point.
@zr7gaming2563 ай бұрын
@@fredriksvard2603 right everyone is saying how they can get 400 miles out of nb3 and I only got 250-300 and I’m a “light runner” 5”11 145-150 lbs although I am a high force producing runner
@zr7gaming2563 ай бұрын
@@fredriksvard2603 rn I’m thinking about the new balance rebel but I don’t know how durable that will be and for long runs I’m considering Boston 12, saucony sinister speed 3 and 4

Hey I saw your other note about looking for a long run shoe. I would highly recommend the triumph 21 - I had the 20 and it was my favorite non plated shoe for long runs. 21 is same midsole - they are super versatile and durable shoes and would be great to pair with SL2

Absolutely loving the content as a pronator and heel striker! I watch or listen to your videos during my runs or gym sessions, when I’m puttin’ in the work! How do these shoes compare to Propel V5? Maybe do a comparison video between stability shoes. I’m a heavier runner and run 10:00-8:00 pace/mile, my long runs are 15-20k, which one would you recommend?
@supwell3 ай бұрын
Propel felt a lot softer and bouncier. Vongo has a denser more supportive foam and will likely be a better choice if you're nursing any foot/leg injuries. Even though the ride wasn't the best/most exciting out of the box, the Vongo felt protective and comfortable
@supwell3 ай бұрын
Also for your second question I would suggest the 860! It's a nice combination of stability and fun. I did a 21 mile long run in it and it was great

What would you say is better for someone walking and standing more? Or using in gym. The 860 or the vongo?
@supwell3 ай бұрын
For gym I'd go 860. It feels more nimble and connected - also better stability for any lateral movement. Vongo might be a little more cushioned for walking but so far I prefer the 860 overall - feels like the package comes together better
@carlito24uk3 ай бұрын
@@supwell thank you for reply. I saw another reviewer say that the 860 might make you supinate which I am a bit worried about. I am flat footed and pronate slightly but do sometimes twist ankle if I supinate slightly.

Hurricane is a lot softer and more cushioned. The 860 is peppier/faster and more versatile. If you're going for comfort get the hurricane and if you want a do-it-all shoe for speed and long runs as well as daily miles get the 860

As my favorite shoe reviewer, I had an idea for beating the other reviewers to the punch on a major line … check out the Anta’s from China. I have the C202 5GT, the C202 5GT Pro and the C10 Pro. They can compete with anything you’ve reviewed at the high end daily and racing class (I have tried everything including Evo Pro 1)… they only weight 229g, 204g and 213g in US size 11. The C10 Pro is tougher to get your hands on but I got it from Poizon. C10 is like getting the Cielo X1 design but at the weight of the Asics Metaspeed Edge Paris.
