It's my first ever 'story based' and I'm so glad it is, it is unironically considered one of the best written stories oat apparently. Very cool, 9/10, 10/10 if we include the later seasons because it explains so much

About learning how to fight, I think it can be explained that he didn't have time to? I can't remember from the top of my head, but i think the only significant timeskip in the show was 2 months between the end of his first week at the mansion and the start of the royal selection. Maybe he could have done better, but considering that he had a day job that he also neaded to learn, reading lessons, history study and some time to destress? I think picking up on specific combat skills with how little time he had is forgivable unles he is willing to work to the bone. And despite how hard working he is, he is still human. Still, I don't remember if there were any details in the nowel, but I believe he at least continued doing general fitness exercises. After the timeskip, during whale and sloth fights, he is more physically fit than a normal human should be, with even trapping and killing one of the fingers in the failed loop all on his own after running and dodging around a bunch. Well, at least it is my interpretation of the first season combat ability without touching some spoilers.

Great video! Btw the details about the magic, spirits, structure of basically everything, and details about how some of their strategies worked in fights are all in the light novels and often skipped/only alluded to in the anime. But the breaktime episode chibi shorts sometimes add these things in where the main series can't. For example one of them explains how clocks their tell time, it's divided into fire earth water and wind with day and night separated under solar and lunar corresponding to light and dark magic as well, and so the affinities correspond to the colour changes. The thing is you might think it's irrelevant...but the spirits also look different based on affinity and in the novels I think the clocks are actually basing it on the density of mana types or something. Which then has loads of lore implications and connects with other things, like how the weather barely changes in one place or country but differs by region so maybe countries have affinities to an extent and something about the mana differences determines their weather, there are supposed to be great sporits in each and they happen to have different affinities(Puck took over from Melaquera for fire which is more temperature control there so that's Lugunica covered but there's Zarestia in Kararagi who's a light affinity great spirit, another is earth, another is I actually don't know but in Gusteko and Beatrice like Puck doesn't fit in as some regular great spirit fulfilling a role but is dark. ...The lore is mostly like this, throw away facts which don't get much exposition at all but you can logically connect to figure out how things work and understand other unexplained parts as well. I SWEAR I'm not overthinking this there's a character with an ability referencing Schrödinger's cat and quantum mechanics using the(I mean others might fit but mainly) Copenhagen interpretation, there's a Plato's symposium reference from Priscilla in a big moment, and cutting any lines from the novels can make these things hard to understand lol. Fortunately the series stands without them just fine! But yeah, watch the breaktime episodes for some extra things including lore.

I’d say the reason he hasn’t learned to fight is because Arc 3 (second half of season 1) and 4 (season 2) happen in like, the span of a few weeks. And most of Arc 3 as you know he spent denying there was anything wrong with him, before it culminating in his choice to begin changing himself. Then after that it was just go go go. So basically he hasn’t tried to learn how to fight because there was literally no time to do so.

If you are in season 2, Subaru has been in this world for 1 month or more ( 2 month in his point of view ) so not a lot of time for training. Evenmore at this time, he is just some guy who want to have a good time with people. It doesn't consider, entering into active danger, for instance there is story of what he do between the arc 2 and the arc 3. And he Mostly do butler stuff, it's really some slice of live adventure with some time important stuff that we will learn or be shown in the main track.

The thing is the entire events of season 1 and 2 happened in just 2 months, yes 2 months since his arrival, he will train and get stronger for season 3 due to 1 year time skip but you’ll have to endure a bit. But I think him being weak is part of the charm.

Yo I just started watching it and i ltierally cant even stop watching it and I NEVER like animes that make me pay attenton or use my brain.. huge shout out to him not having nose bleeds over girls even tho he do still go girl crazy the plot is literally so fire i can forgive it (and i dropped animes over cringe stuff like that in the past)

Subaru has no talent, simple as that. The re zero world is RNG based, either you are born with talent or you have some special ability like a divine protection that carries you. Also, RBD restart Subaru's body and muscle memory, so he can't get strong through looping since any advancement would be gone when he restarts.
