This talk is a train wreck of a talk. It essentially boils down to thought control and the main point is to think Celestial, and that is problematic because that is a theoretical idea that we don't know exists and this thought process could cause irreparable damage to certain relationships, especially the section where he mentions about not associating with those who have lost their doubt. And what's funny is that all of my associates who are members praise it as one of the best talks in recent memory. Yikes...

Most people see it as a miracle he spoke. I see it as he couldn't miss any opportunity to be seen as a speaker of God. He knows his time is short and can't fathom not being seen and heard. Did anyone else notice his tongue seemed thick? Meaning, maybe his pain meds hadn't worn off

Thnx bro for this comparison. When i heard Nelson's talk it scared me, because i knew My parents were also watching the conference at their Home. It scared me and pissed me off because i knew that because of this idiot i was going to lose them. It is so bizarre to really hear and see them doing this.

Well said. I agree completely. I was a young teen in England when I met a returned missionary, went to California, married in the temple still a teenager, had 4 beautiful babies in less than 5 years. I am free now, no longer go to church and try to live the best I can with kindness every day. One of my children still goes to church here back in England, I support her, she loves it and I love the small Mormon community here although I no longer go. My 3 sons are all successful, happy, well educated and kind young American men who no longer believe. Sadly their father had cancer and was gone too soon, but my returned missionary was a drug addict that I divorced when the children were young. I then supported them alone, went back to school and have a master’s in nursing as my children’s father spent years in prison. Life is hard but beautiful, live today and fill the day with joy and kindness to share, how many complete families are perfect enough to attain an unknown goal? Think for yourself and love those around you. Have a happy day everyone. Thank you Ubermormon. Would love to see more videos🌟🇬🇧🇺🇸

There was this discussion that I was watching between I think Bill Reel and Jacob Hansen (although it could have been someone else) where Bill asked Jacob is he would be happy to have his own daughters live and work in the Joseph Smith household. Or if president Nelson said that it was time to bring back Polygamy, would he be OK with following the prophets under those circumstances. Jacob’s (or whoever it was) said that they would definitely need to pray on it and receive his own confirmation before he could make a decision. I think about that conversation a lot. It’s almost as if there’s nothing that we won’t rationalize, and the leaders appear to be banking on that. I’ve seen in the early church, wherever somebody took issue with some goings on - the leaders would implore the people to pray about it themselves. It’s either implicit or explicitly meaning - pray about it until you are comfortable doing as you’re told.

I think that was Bill and Jacob. Sad that members permitted to trust their own thoughts unless they already align with what the church approves. Jacob would most likely be praying for the strength to let it happen. Sad.

It's a tangent, but brain activity could continue while hearts aren't pumping. I think the bigger problem with NDEs is that 1) they are largely contradictory 2) they seem to depend on each person's religious background and preexisting expectations 3) they are unverifiable anyways.

Thank you for this! I think you pointing out special pleading is spot on. Having been a TBM, this is exactly how I used to think - "yeah, those imposters sound similar to us, but that is just Satan imitating God's Truth to lead away the Elect". Also, the supernatural/postmortality interpretations of the near death experience phenomenon have been widely criticized and perfectly good naturalistic explanations exist. The naturalistic explanations of phenomena are always superior to supernatural explanations. If history of science can teach us a fundamental observation, it is that the body of phenomena once considered supernatural is shrinking with the passage of time 🙂.

@@ubermormon9611 Don’t be sorry, I really appreciated this video. I had always assumed that the manipulative aspects of the church were just an inherent part of religion. Even growing up as an active member, I never had that much faith. Mormon teachings being entirely false doesn’t completely shatter my worldview. My frustration comes from seeing the manipulative tactics used to indoctrinate people. I’m unsure of what to attribute to my frustrations. It’s hard to believe that Joseph Smith was honest and of sound mind in the creation of the church. However, I don’t know if the sequential prophets are acting intentionally manipulative or if they are genuine believers who are just continuing the cycle of manipulation without even realizing it.

Nelson sounds very desperate. Not having your marriage valid in the next life doesn't mean you won't get to see and be with your family. Ask yourself: who or what is going to stop you? If you are going to apply that passage he quoted from Section 132, then you ought to universally apply it, not just to marriage, but to all performances, vows, expectations, etc. Section 132 has a very dicey history. It came out long after Joseph was dead. It contains doctrine that contradicts all other scripture. Joseph Smith did not follow the precepts of Section 132. After Joseph died, the church authorities falsified parts of his journal. You can see this in the Joseph Smith Papers. If they falsified his journal, they could and would have also falsified his revelations. The church is teaching false doctrine when it says you get to choose which of three kingdoms you will end up in, in the last judgment. The degrees of glory are successive states that we go through, just like is portrayed in the temple. In other words, Jacob's ladder only goes from one place to another place. It doesn't branch out. Jacob's ladder progresses through the degrees of glory. A careful reading of Sections 76 and 88 show this. "Exaltation" is not salvation on steroids. There is only one definition of salvation.

Let’s take an exacting look at what Truth Really is. In its purest form Truth can’t be attacked, discredited, debated or even explained. Truth is nothing more and nothing less than what it is….which just is. (Remember, I Am is the name of God) Truth is Truth and so is everything “else.” How could it be otherwise? It can’t. Once this is seen, the question of whether or not a church is True becomes obsolete and completely absurd.

Which eternal mother for the podcaster, for yourself and for me? In the realms of celestial polygamy, the God of Mormon theology presides, not unlike the barbarians of yore, over a harem of women. This celestial court, an echo of primal urges, seems intent on a Darwinian mission: to propagate the divine lineage into future generations. It conjures an image of a pantheon, not of singular divinity, but of a multitude of heavenly consort mothers. Among these celestial consorts, one wonders which might claim the honor or burden of being the primary goddess mother of you, your neighbor, or even your earthly siblings. Are we all celestial half-brothers and half-sisters?

@@VAATAUSILI4139 I'm not entirely sure you're having fun with me or I'm having fun with you. Maybe this is all parody and we are having fun together. In the labyrinthine corridors of Mormon theology, lurks a celestial character most enigmatic, most elusive - the Goddess Mother, or should we say, mothers? This divine entity, or entities, shrouded in celestial mystery, is akin to an ecclesiastical Waldo, ever-present but perpetually hidden from view. She is there, they insist, but not for your eyes, ears, or especially, your prayers. Now, one must appreciate the cosmic irony here. In a religion that boasts of direct revelation and additional scripture, the Heavenly Mother(s) remain a theological afterthought, cloaked in divine obscurity. It's as if Joseph Smith, in his revelatory zest, overlooked a footnote that read: "P.S. There are divine women of strength and intellect too." The Mormon Heavenly Mother, barred from the podium, absent from the scriptures, is the ultimate embodiment of the church’s views on womanhood. Here is a goddess who embodies the quintessential virtues of Mormon femininity: silence, invisibility, and a celestial breeding program that would make a Victorian blush. She is not to be prayed to, spoken of, or acknowledged in any meaningful ecclesiastical role, save for her contribution to an eternal polygamous arrangement. Ah, the joys of celestial polygamy - where women are not just hidden, but multiplied and then amassed in divine harems. This divine maternal figure, ostensibly equal in glory and power, is conveniently tucked away from any narrative that might place her on an equal footing with her male counterparts. It's almost as if the Mormon God attended the same gender seminars as the Catholic Church, concluding that divine representation is a strictly male bastion. In the grand cosmic scheme, where gods and planets are as common as Brigham Young's progeny, the Heavenly Mother is the ultimate paradox - omnipresent in theory, yet conspicuously absent in doctrine. She's there, somewhere, behind the veil of celestial patriarchy, whispering, "Here I am, not that you'd know it." So, to the devout and curious, I say, good luck praying to this hidden goddess. Perhaps in the echoes of your unanswered prayers, you might just hear the faint chuckle of Mormonism's best-kept secret - a goddess who exists but doesn't, reigns but doesn't rule, and is revered but never revealed. In the grand pantheon of religious oddities, the Mormon Heavenly Mother truly takes the celestial cake, without any of the icing.

Hey friend, a lot of this was stuff I would have expected to hear from other channels-I found the first half to contain many scarecrows and misunderstandings of the broader picture. In particular the claims of NDEs and when they start/stop. While you discuss the structure of the claim and its veracity you overlook one of the key components in what is happening. In a way it’s tied to how you discussed determining the “feeling” of the time of the experience, there is a difference between physical time and states of exotic phenomenal time which are still valid structures of time and the qualia of the experience, but there is a difficult explanatory barrier here. The language of such events is tricky to parse. In regards to free and moral agency, it’s a bit of an old hat argument; every Exmo makes the same one. It’s too bad Bernard et al are correct though. Nelson is off-putting and his linguistic is trash, so the comparison is workable, but Nelson’s message, while still divisive, is more clear and less culty than the shown counterpart. If they’re going to keep multiplying the earth some division is not only inevitable, but necessary.

I find your thoughts and your understanding lacking. Sure I understand the need to determine one’s own destination by their connection with God and that is it. How can one come up with an assumption that those that are close to God are going on to mislead others? Do we just turn away from ancient scripture and think we can gain personal inspiration of what is truth and what is not true? You may think that the words of some is just a manipulation for others to follow but I ask to what end? To become a disbeliever, or perhaps to gain an higher understanding than God? Sorry but none of your thoughts give anything except quandry and having others believe or manipulated into thinking you know what you are talking about and that you speak truth? Sorry but your theories are absolutely nonsensical and it is only when you have truth witnessed to you personally from God , that any of us can find a concrete foundation on anything! If this life is all we have them s conversation never existed, b cause eventually there will be nothing one around to remember it. Nothing anyone does will ever exist. Once death occurs there is nothingness. Eventually the earth will not even exist and the human experience will be as if it never happened. However, if you look at the power of of Christ's body after He was resurrected we begin to understand why we must be mortal prior to becoming immortal. Christ appeared in the middle of a closed room after He was resurrected. They thought He was a spirit. He assured them He was flesh and bones. Romans 6 :9 says Christ will never die again. If we had a body that could pass through walls could a prison hold you? No. Laws would be useless. If we were immortal from birth we wouldn't listen to anyone, not even God. Because God loves us He made us mortal prior to becoming immortal, so we can learn from our mistakes. And Jesus paid for our mistakes if we learn from them.
