I’ve almost finished my 1st year and here’s what I learned, do a pre trip, keep your wheels on the road,stay in your lane, stay outta the ditches, stay off of cars, stay on bridges, don’t speed , don’t be in a hurry for nothing, watch out for the other asshole on the road, always maintain a safe following distance plus 1 truck length, never never never drive tired and never drive like a dumb ass

How did you stay accident free and incident free
@GreatCDLTraining
@GreatCDLTraining 7 жыл бұрын
From Glenn: I was accident free and incident free simply by taking my time on the road and at truck stops. Most of the incidents/accidents you will see will happen at the truck stops. Most common accidents/incidents happen while backing. If you are at a truck stop or delivering somewhere where be sure to always get out and look. If there is any doubt in your mind about distance or an object behind you or anything, take the 7 seconds to get out and look. That 7 seconds will save you more time than you will ever know!!!

I'm an 18 vet and i will tell u how to stay accident and incident free. First of all, take yr time, don't let dispatchers or anyone rush u never, always pretrip every single day, if something needs to be repairs get it fixed before driving it, always plan ahead, and pray everyday.Expecially for d.o.t lol that they won't go to writing tickets and things lol. And make safe everyday driving your practice. Own it. Challenge yourself to be a lil safer the next day. If u do those than 100 to none u will be ok

who you working for now? I'm with C.R.England and I have fulfilled my contract with them. I actually plan on doing that golden year then venturing out. I'm from Seattle,WA. looking for a company there that will give me the miles and home time. got any suggestions? I checked out a few like swift, Marten and knight but the only one that would do a dedicated was swift. I feel like I would be taking a step backwards. gonna check out heartland. they want one year experience. by the way congratulations. God bless you in your career.

Michael, Thank you for the kind words and encouragement. I now work for B&M Transport as an independent contractor. It's a local company where I live and it's working out great. What I did was I found a guy who owns his own trucks and got hired to drive by him. He is leased to the company. Now I no longer get paid by the mile, it's all by the load. Long story short, it's a lot more money. I'm actually learning what I need to know to purchase my own truck and put myself in the same position that my boss is in. As far as home time, I'm home 1-2 days during the week and every weekend. When you look to change companies double check on the home time and the pay. Start looking at local companies, preferably the smaller companies. Those are the ones that generally have you home more often and allow you to make the most money. Only switch if it works for you! If you can, go ahead and just stick to finishing that golden year because as long as you keep that MVR and CSA clean, "YOU WRITE YOUR OWN TICKET!" Congratulations on completing your contract and drive safe. - Glenn

Iodotoluene What company did you work for? I've been hearing around $500 a week in training. You can't pay your bills, clothing etc with $50 or $100 a week. If they are in high demand for drivers they won't get anyone working for them if they are paying that low.

when you were driving in snow did you ever slide back down hill or how about mountain driving is it as scary as it looks
@GreatCDLTraining
@GreatCDLTraining 8 жыл бұрын
The snow is not the problem. Its the slush and ice that becomes the problem. I have never slid back downhill, but I have had to downshift going downhill in Colorado on ice before. That was on highway 70. Remember the brake gets you in trouble on ice. The key is to downshift as much as possible and take it slow.
