You should train bug testers good sir. As a former bug tester/technical standards analyst for a now defunct company (R.I.P. Midway), this is the kind of stuff that really seems to be lacking nowadays in the QA department, and has been for a long time. Most publicly traded companies can't spend the time testing like this, because they have to rush crap out to meet investors pocket needs. That's why Midway died, investors expecting returns forcing games out the door with less and less quality control.

Trying one or two methods sometimes worked, thing is, those solutions don’t work all the time. He might have to try 8 times one day and 2 times the next…

Since launch, I've had the issue where randomly I won't be able to ready up. I can click it and my friends in the lobby see me ready up, but it does not happen on my screen. If I click and leave it like that, they get into a game and I don't. I always have to leave the lobby and rejoin to fix it. It even happens when I'm by myself in a lobby and I have to return to main menu and go back to fix it.

Oddly enough, there are occurances I've had, (A few times) where the whole squad goes into a slow-motion limbo. Everyone moves in slow-motion, and it lasts for a good few minutes. Seems to have only happened in Arenas also. Could be the server, could be that particular game, but it's happened at least a half dozen times in my experience. Very weird.

At least it lets you in the game even if it is glitchy. Overwatch wouldn't let me play since it forced me to pair my battlenet account. No issue for years, now after a single update it won't even load into the game.

Theory: What if the new information on the friends tab (Which shows your friends if you're in a duos, arenas, ranked games, how many squads are left, e.t.c.) is stressing your side of the game as it tries to relay that information over to as many friends as you have? It seems silly, but if most players have been facing this issue after the takeover event where it was introduced, then It may be possible.

for those whos game freezes and crashes in the same rig that you used to play flawlessly , make a cfg file where u can mouse scroll to uncap your capped fps . then cap your fps to 30 and just scroll your mouse once after you get in a game to uncap that capped 30 fps , and the game runs just as good as new. recently my game was using 100% cpu and 3% gpu for some reason , and it was crashing over and over even in lobby my cpu usage was 100% , this actually fixed it.

You on xbox too? Because same for me. That studder every 10 seconds was fucking terrible. At least with the banner crashes you load back in (rare instances you won't I haven't like 2/100) and if you run with a premade you can have them change their banners. It seemed to have clear up a few days, but I think people started to realize the exploit that could be done if your teammate completely disconnects and gives you loss forgiveness. For that reason it seems people are intentionally keeping the banners equipped.

I think that sometimes it is also server related, I have 0 friends added and occasionally I get thrown into a slow-mo server where im just stuttering, can’t even walk, you stim as octane and are barely even moving, etc or sometimes it only does it late game specifically in world’s edge but it never happens in Olympus or King’s Canyon only in Early or Late Game circles in World’s Edge... late game if you cut the map into 4 sections it specifically only happens in the. North West Corner of World’s Edge when the final ring circles are over there near skyhook or the place with the bridges that raise

@@LunaTulpa poorly optimized code can do all sorts of whack stuff. I’m not saying the code is poorly optimized but…. I’m not saying it isn’t either. I have almost 1k hours in this game, I love it, but I haven’t been able to play on 2-3 days because I’m literally getting code snaked out of everything and my ping goes wild. It’s the only online game I play that does it. I checked in Phasmophobia, Hunt showdown, and split gate. All three ran 100% normal, no lag, 0% packet loss, 50-60ping 10-20mbps up/down (multiple people in home it varies ) but always been able to play apex until about 3 days ago

The error code was not like any id seen before because it was a windows error and not an in game produced one. Haven’t received that one in 3 days or so but ever sense haven’t been able to play it. Tried repairing files and reinstalling game

Ever since the rampart town take over, my Xbox 1 and my friends Xbox 1 crashes on the banner screen when it shows your team, we have unequaled any anamations on our banner, but our friend who uses the Xbox X does not have this problem, we live within a few miles of each other, and the crashing every 2 games has really ruined apex season 10 for me, they said it would be fixed 3 weeks ago, but it feels like apex is forcing us to buy the new Xbox and PlayStation. On ps you can go into your share settings and switch off all notifications. This will stop the game sending your game progress to either public or friends.

I have a theory, it might have something to do with the flyers in king's canyon. So an interesting thing that respawn did with the flyers is when you shoot them and get the deathbox they're carrying, the deathbox owner is one of your friends. I believe that this info is still received from your friends list despite what map you're on. So it constantly uploads that friends list no matter what and doesn't check for what map you're currently on. I'm in no way a developer but it sounds like something that could be a thing.

I'm on a slow bandwidth it's nice to know there's a reason for the MASSIVE ping spikes of 2500+ during the match, that 3MB literally takes 5-10 seconds and if there's a team in the area I'm either dead or useless to my team in that timeframe. Hopefully a fix comes soon

Meanwhile Respawn made Apex for a platform that was not Steam. And then later they had to add it to steam and integrate it with their social platform etc. lots of stuff there that could have gone wrong

This makes sense as your account needs to keep track of all of your friends, therefore it needs to at least ping them or get a ping. Depending on how often these pings do happen to check if a friend is online you will have a bigger impact.

Unbelievable! This actually fixed the start-up lag I had every time whenever I started the game! It would go away and as soon as I for example chose a different game mode, the lag returned and stayed again for another couple of seconds. So like you said, I deleted SOME of my Steam friends and after I had restarted Apex, there was literally no start-up lag or delay anywhere; everything was smooth in an instant! Thank you so much for figuring this out! Let's hope this is a long-term fix. Because of the lag I had I actually had quit the game, but thank to this fix I can enjoy Apex again with my friends! I was longing to come back to the game! Thank you so much!♥ UPDATE: I restarted Apex again, just to check but the lag was somehow back :/ I really wonder what causes it because it helped the first time :(

Hi, 1 Year later, season 16 and I am experiencing this issue now. Just got a new PS5 and Apex has just become completely unplayable. The exact same issue as yours, I have a low ping, but then it suddenly spikes to 300 and then drops again, sometimes it's always low ping and then I get the red symbols for Latency, Congestion, Packet Loss, and Prediction Error. One - two at a time, and sometimes I get All at the same time, opponents in front of me literally teleporting. It's so frustrating!

I had the exact same issue and deleting all my friends actually helped. Which sucks because this is a team based game and when you run across someone you play well with you can't even friend them so you can invite them in the future anymore. Bravo Respawn, bravo....

There a 50% chance that I freeze when the game transfers from your squad banners to champion banners, and when I exit the game when it says “connected to lobby”. If it freezes before the game I have to reload it and the game continues with me afk just landing where ever my team lands and standing there until my game reloads. :(

Hello everybody, after trying so many things I finally found the solution to fix my stuttering problems. After I deactivated IPv6 I had no more problems. 1. Close Apex. 2. Go to control panel -> Network Settings -> Adapter Configuration. I'm german so I'm not sure if the translation is right. This is the path in german: Systemsteuerung\Netzwerk und Internet\Netzwerkverbindungen 3. Rightclick on the Adapter of your Internet Connection (mine is called "Ethernet") and deactivate "Internet Protocol, Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)". I hope that helps most of you. Please let me know if it helped you :-)

Got an interesting test for you. Turn off the overlay if in Steam or in EA's version of it. Run the test again, if it clears it up, it could be an overlay cache issue, which the number of friends you have will bog it down, as well as the general cache for the videos you consume. They have really bad memory management in this regard.

As a man with next to no game design experience, but some code experience, I am totally qualified to offer my probably wrong explanation for this! As the friends network is run on a separate server than the game itself, whenever an update happens to the friends network, the game server stutters as it attempts to beam information to all your friends on your friends network, and the game server waits for a response before attempting a new event, resulting in a stutter. The red of the graph is you sending updates to both the game server and the friends server, with a corresponding green (download) response. Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

Unfortunate. My Apex journey started on late February of this year, but now I have uninstalled the game and ended my journey about a month ago. I mean most issues have bugfixes if you look them up online. I was having a problem with loading taking forever and I found out all I had to do was flush my dns. Also you clearly don't hate a game if you play it, otherwise you just wouldn't play the game.

Here my theory you know how since the rampart update they added the feture were when you look at your friends you can see how many squads are left and how long the games are? Maybe when trying to connect to all those games it reduses the connection between your own game? But in no coder soo

Quite close, as merchant said that he had over 400 friends added. The game is basically relaying the game info to 400 friends simultaneously, causing insane lag.

My lag is horrible I'm on console and it always says its my wifi when its clearly not. I'll randomly freeze in place and it'll just crash its unplayable at this point.

Like let's say you are given the chance to bugfix a new ui change to the friends screen, is your first question "what happens if I add 500+ friends to this account?" Give the devs some slack man, learn how programming works.

wow, u saved my life. i was actually going crazy over this. I have over 800 friends on steam. Imagine my pain. i just migrated to origin again, deleted all my friends and the game is another one. I've been playing like this since it released on steam. And i wonder why im getting worse over time..........

hmm, i did some thinking about the logic of what may be causing this. now none of this information is really statistically based on anything, but it's just based off of the info we currently have notice in the recent updates, the friends list is far more detailed and expressive compared to before. now it displays the amount of players in a queue, how long they've played, or what placement the team currently is. in my logic i feel like this may be responsible as obviously shown; more friends = more increased latency and stuttering. in my understanding, this is because apex relies on the client for updates to update the information displayed in the friends list like i said earlier. which is why it's sending it in large quantities and spikes, those are updates being sent from the server (assumption). i do recall apex doing this prior to the update but never at such a scale because there wasn't much to send to the server so it didn't lag. BUT it was noticed at a point where if you had over 500 friends it would make a noticeable difference in latency compared to 0 friends. sorry for the paragraphs, hope you read this TGM! please feel free to leave any feedback!

I don't have a lot of friends on origins, maybe 7 or 8, but I'm experiencing the exact same lag since rampart event. The game is literally unplayable. Btw, I play on New-York server usually as it is my default server with a ping anywhere between 20 and 30, and since the rampart event, New York is not even my default server anymore, because now it has a ping of 70ish. I live in Montreal, Canada, which is a 6 hours car ride to NY, and now my default server is... South-Carolina... a 17 hours car ride... with a ping of 50ish. How is that even possible?

PS5: Apex constantly freezes up leaving you unable to shoot or move. Then you’re likely dead. It isn’t stuttering but instead full blown freezing. Everyone seems to be having this same issue on PS5 but I’m not sure how to fix it. Tried changing to 5GHz which helped with download speed but ping still spikes all over and freezes up. Tried changing network settings and prioritized PS5 - didn’t work. Tried changing servers - didn’t work Tried uninstalling and reinstalling - didn’t work. Tried renewing game licenses - didn’t work Tried making a new account with no friends just now - didn’t work. Tried playing Apex on both external hard drive and internal - made no difference I never had any issues on PS4 but ever since swapping to PS5, it’s terrible. I’m slowly running out of options but quickly starting to give up on Apex. Any last ideas?

It's either clogged friends list or FPS capping or not capping (I have to cap at 60 FPS or else it stutters horrible even if the game wants to sit at 200 FPS, my friend needs to UNCAP his FPS or else he has stuttering) those are the 2 main reasons for stuttering as far as I know

this problem is very common in games in general, i remember in fortnite it was a big issue, i had 2 accounts and could never figure out why my alt had better fps, then i read a similar article in the fortnite reddit and all my problems went away.

Hey, Y'all. I have the same issue, and I fixed it without deleting all the friends. Mine solution is Task Manager > Details > Right-click on Steam > Set affinity > Check CPU 0-4 but uncheck others. It solves most of the lagging in my apex games. I assume this problem might be related to the driver issues of the graphic card.

So like im playing the cycle frontier and apex legends and in the cycle the lobby where you walk around is always super laggy especially when opening a menu none of my friends have super stutters like i do and the only thing we have different is that i have 200+ friends and they have like 10 maybe this is the issue i have if so this would be brilliant

Wait, this could be 100% true. Yesterday I made another account to test something and noticed the first game that I joined was sooooo smooth in comparison to my games on my "main" account and I though that it could be something in the files or the videoconfig but now makes some sense as that account being new for instance has no friends or else. Hope devs check this. Great job!

I have the exact same problem. I have an 8 year old hard drive. Every open world game does this for me. I started apex legends because it wasn't as bad. You need to put apex legends on an SSD. My hard drive is 95% full and 8 years old. Sometimes apex is unplayable but once everything loads it's all good until the next game.

Wouldn't be surprised if the info of in-game friends and their matches is being sent to you, while you are in-game yourself. And your client might be sending/receiving it individually, rather than sending it to a main server. With a lot of people in your friends list, this can stack up quite fast if each person is handled on their own.

Honestly didn't even think about mentioning this to anyone. But basically all of my friends had a similar issue with too many friends and lag issues and when they cleaned up there friends list it dropped. It doesn't have to be 0 friends. A few pages in apex would still be fine. Edit: I'm on console personally. So this issue is most likely something to do with how they code the friend list.

I wonder if it’s because the game auto updates and checks the status of friends to see if they’re online, present or offline. And as more and more friends are added, those request add up to a point of intense stuttering. It would be interesting to test different account levels. Like an account with 0 friends, 100 friends, 500 friends, 1000+

Hey! I fixed my lag by opening my 41 apex packs (I literally do not care what's in them lol) and it is literally night and day. I had no EA friends to begin with, so it's not coincidence either. Hope this helps someone with my extremely specific problem!
