This just goes to show that God is concerned with even the smallest details of our lives. Just about 2 nights ago, I asked God for braces cause my teeth are a mess (which is not fun cause I love to smile and laugh), and now I come across this video! Once I've saved up, I will DEFINITELY be consulting Dr Ngema. I love that she is black and female cause I do believe that if you're having a cosmetic medical procedure it's best to work with someone whose from the same cultural/racial background as you as culture informs beauty standards. I almost went with an older white orthodontist many years ago and he wanted to pretty much change the structure of my face. THANK GOD my mom could not afford him. Thank you LOADS for sharing this, please pray for me to get my braces soon.

Im starting my journey in a few days! I'm nervous but also can't wait. I was wondering for the facial change was that just a by product of the braces? Or was changing your face shape intentionally part of your treatment plan? A big reason why Im doing this is primarily for that. My ortho mentioned it was a by product, which she had commented that Im gonna see a real improvement in my profile. So that made me happy. But I was just curious if anybody actually asked their ortho about it.

I’ve just had mine installed to actually fix the structure of my face. It became asymmetrical after I chewed on one side of my mouth for a year. I can’t wait to see the changes. It’s exciting 😃.

I'm 22 years old but I wasn't insecure about my teeth until my late teens because my mom and cousin pointed out that they were a little skew. I had them for exactly a year (removed them last June). I'm genuinely content with my smile now 🙂 Oh and my retainer is similar to Invisilign but I only wear them at night.

Getting mine tomorrow. I'm not insecure about my teeth at all but my dentists have always recommended that I get them to fix my overjet (aka overbite) but my mom could not afford it and our medical aid would not cover all the costs. I just got braces back in May and my teeth were very bad and majority were hidden. Within a space of these 5 months my teeth are all straight and perfect. I’m currently just fixing my bite now because I had an underbite. I’m so happy with my new smile because I used to be so insecure. I’ve never been so happier with my smile like rn. My ortho did mention that my bite is almost there and that by Feb 2023 my braces will be off😭🙏🏾I’m looking forward to that day shem but I will miss them

I have gaps both on my lower and upper teeth. I went to the dentist to get them done they were like oh no don’t put in u look beautiful ( i actually like my gaps specially the top part) but I noticed that as the time went by my gaps began getting wider. At the time the price for braces was £3500-£4000 and I had insurance at the time. I listen to everyone who was against my procedure. I honestly regret it. Last year went for a check up and the dentist is saying oh your gap got wider u need braces ASAP now the price is around £5000. Had I listen I would’ve gotten my teeth sorted.
