With respect, I would have to agree. The problem will be that when you do get someone romantic and special in your life, you can't fly her out to Paris as anything special. When you are in the dating phase, you have to keep the demarcation lines very clear. If what you want to do with your female friend is something typically done for intimate partners, you DON'T DO IT. And for your last birthday, where did she fly you to???
