Not a paramotor pilot here, just curious, why is it difficult? Is it the cold or is it that your limbs get numb/hurt from the harness/seat? I do long distance motorcycling from time to time and when my fuel is running low, I thank whichever God for that gas station stop lol

I’ve never flown a para glider but have made my living flying fixed and rotor wings for the past 39 years. When you landed at the EDE airport I thought to myself how familiar it looked as you walked up the steps of the old base building. I immediately knew where you landed. I flew UPS contract freight from 1989 to 1993 from RDU to EDE to MQI 6 days a week. I watched the sunrise hundreds of mornings over Roanoke island and the outer banks. I still live in eastern NC and fly out of RDU. Always wanted to try one of those things. I’m enjoying watching your channel. Safe flying.

Desperately needs to have a removable fuel tank. That is a MUST HAVE!!! Also, to save space and weight. Plan your flights and you're landing spots to refuel. Then premeasure your oil in tiny disposable containers so you can dump and go and fill the tank without having to think about anything. You won't have to bring that large jug of oil or the mixing bottle. When fueling, add the oil to the tank first, then adding fuel will mix it properly. When planning, have a primary landing/refueling spot and an alternate.
@MarkHuneycutt
@MarkHuneycutt 9 ай бұрын
Removable fuel tank is nice in theory for certain situations. The Parajet Maverick large frame has a removable tank. Weakening fuel connections by continuously removing it would concern me overtime. I do plan a primary fuel stop but due to the nature of how fast and affected by wind we are, I have to have multiple options and a lot of oil in case weather forecasts are wrong. I could definitely add oil first but I do it after to have an accurate ratio to whatever I pump in the tank. These fuel tank markings are fairly inaccurate. Getting ratio slightly wrong probably isn't a big deal, though, if I aim for a 50:1 estimate then dump oil in first. If I don't add enough oil, then I'm getting closer to my usual 66:1. If I add too much, it's probably okay but could foul plugs and decrease fuel efficiency.

@@MarkHuneycutt Eventually it will happen. Head scratcher why I don’t see more folks doing this. You know anyone who hops from lakes to landing strips on some sort of amphibious ultralight? I imagine that would increase options for cross country travel. Trick would be having an engine that would burn regular gas or just carry oil mix I guess. I’m not to knowledgeable on those details but slowly learning. Seems like your journey across NC was about equal or slightly less than time it would take to drive. Very cool! Happy New Year man

I'm new to paramotoring but had a couple questions from this video: 1. Isn't it dangerous to fly around airports? Do you have to alert the airport you are coming into its airspace/landing? Are you using some sort of radio/app to help with being aware of airplanes potentially at your elevation/in your area? 2. Landing on private land seems odd. Doesn't that somehow make them liable for you? Have you been in trouble for trespassing/had any confrontations/issues with this?
@MarkHuneycutt
@MarkHuneycutt 6 ай бұрын
1. There is heightened risk due to air traffic. You don't have to alert the airport unless it's a Class B, C, D, E to the surface airport, which you need permission for anyway, not just an alert. Flightradar24 allows you to see other aircraft around you that are pushing out an ADS-B signal. 2. It's definitely a risk and trespassing. If I get hurt on someone's land, I'm not going to sue nor would my family. It was my fault. The people that sue for getting hurt on other people's land have no morals. I've had no issues and I only do it on XC flights. I don't really like to do it.

@@MarkHuneycutt Some of that makes sense it's a long time in the saddle so to speak; ever consider the Icarus race? As you're still young I'd love to try it it takes some hanging it out there for sure, I may believe you've seen Tucker Gotts account of his race on KZbin. Pretty tight airspace and some high passes. But it be fun best if it were a buddy system he ran fuel bladders which I believe were water bottles but the body functions part would be a bit rough on could 1 perhaps but the other well you know. It looks kind of cool to do multiple days and set up rural airports and out away from tight quarters fuel refills at gas stations it be interesting for sure, you certainly have the aviation and paramotor experience but to do it? You'd kind of race car your paramotor engine and it be ready for an overhaul or half way there in what is it 5 days of dawn to dusk go as far as you can. But I admire your life mission more than that guy definitely his speech and swearing has really gone downhill of recent , perhaps bad friends corrupt good morals who know young me without a knowledge of our Father & His Son wise men still seek Him.
