You are right. Most Kenyans have never been to the upper part of the country because that place is so remote. The majority of people live in southern part of the country because urban areas and cities developed along the old railway line from Mombasa to Kisumu and Kampala through Nairobi. To make it worse, the Northern part of the country is the driest and with poor infrastructure. But I think that all this is about to change because of the ongoing road constructions in this remote part of Kenya.

I flew all over Uganda with MAF in 1999 doing Y2K work for the Danish Embassy. LIke you flying into really remote airstrips - almost all were gravel, and in the centre of towns. We carried a generator with us due to potential power cuts at the destination. Do the MAF pilots still perform a prayer before take-off? Was a bit worrying the first time I heard it. Great organisation though.
