On the subject of MK looking like the pinnacle of graphics: anyone who wasn't around at the time will need to understand that CRT displays really did a lot to hide the aliasing and compression artefacts, so all those digitised games did sort of look like you had an actual person standing there in the game world. The limited frames of animation were always a bit of a giveaway, but your brain would fill in a bunch of the missing details due to the more believable integration of the characters into the scene afforded by the slight bleed between the light given off by each coloured cell on the screen as the radiation beam drew the screen line by line at incredible speed. You'd also never really see fully drawn frames for their full length like you do on modern displays because once the last line was drawn the next frame would start from the top. This smoothed out the animations a bit because the transition between frames was almost like a vertical wipe - giving you a moment of the fully drawn frame and then a combination of the two frames growing line by line, then the fully rendered frame within the time it took for the display to draw those 2 frames individually. It was almost like there was another frame for every actual frame and it made the image look much more natural in motion, as well as allowing for you to see a significant amount of the next frame before it was finished, which is part of why some people praise CRT for its quicker response time. You've got to remember that this is the era where games like Myst and Riven: The Sequel to Myst were using similar tricks to create games that were considered fully photorealistic and the Wing Commander games from 3 onwards were having a lot of success with live action FMV cutscenes that made it feel like you were taking part in a big Hollywood movie, so it wasn't quite so crazy for Capcom to think that Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game: The Home Port would have been a big hit. We were also dumb kids and hadn't seen anything like it before and didn't have a reference point for the types of graphics and level of interactivity that we have now.

Man, I feel jmcrofts on parents not letting you play games. When I was a kid there was all sorts of games/movies/TV shows I wasn't allowed to play or watch. I've got 2 kids of my own these days and we have a much healthier stance on it. I get it, though. When I look back on it as a 41 year old man I realize I didn't know ANYTHING when I was their age. And if you ask my wife, I still don't.
@ajack13126 ай бұрын
Lol my parents were never like that about violent games, my dad literally bought me Soldier Of Fortune:Platinum Edition, Deus Ex and Max Payne for PC when I was 11-12. I'm partial to Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game: The Home Port For The Sony Playstation. I don't know if it's necessarily much better than the arcade or the Saturn port, but I love how convoluted and overly specific the name is (even if it's not official and is mostly the result of me taking the piss)
@GimpyDingo7 ай бұрын
The arcade and console versions are different with Capcom making the console versions as similar to SF2 gameplay as they could. While the arcade version was made by a 3rd party and Capcom told them they couldn't look at the source code of SF2 and to just watch/play SF2 and build the game based on what they learned. I do enjoy the arcade vetsion jank and crazy combos.

Can I just say it is absolutely great to see two guys play a fighting game and display not only incredible sportsmanship but genuinely enjoying the experience. Like, not too long ago, I didn't watch fighting game plays because it was always the most insecure, foul-mouthed, toxic a-holes, just being abusive to one another. Videos like this make the fighting game community feel like it's matured and is now actually enjoyable (as opposed to overtly hostile).

Sagat has an easy loop I wish Justin knew about. First he can hold down 3P for a few second to charge the eyepatch stun. Then after that he can Tiger Knee into st. HP several times. Depending on whether or not he's in the corner he can also do a jump Hk to jump HP chain. A few reps will do massive damage and there's probably a way to get an infinite out of it if you lab it for long enough.

@TheFancifulNorwegian7 ай бұрын
The console versions developed by Capcom feel a lot like Super Turbo. The original arcade version they're playing in this video was made by an outside developer in the U.S. and is mechanically very different from any other SF game. It also doesn't have EX Specials, though it does have things like throw escapes and an equivalent to Alpha Counters.
