If the Virgin Islands count since they are territories, then the Easternmost location of the US should be the Marshall Islands. They are on the Easternmost edge of the Eastern Hemisphere.

You are missing the point my man. And you are being aggressively literal. It IS the easternmost point of the CONTINENTAL United States as well as the Easternmost point of the 50 states of America. The Virgin Islands are a US territory. I suppose that semantics would call for the sign to state “The Easternmost point in the continental United States” but it is the easternmost point that any American can get into a car and travel to from any of 49 out of the 50 United States (excluding Hawaii for obvious reasons). Basically… you must understand the meaning of the declaration and are arguing semantics.
