Literally everyone says this; a bunch of people like it, and it gets treated like fact. I would put a car sitting under grass in Florida for 10 years and would love to compare it to a car in a northern state that is actively used in salty conditions for half that amount of time. Modern cars with undercoating and a metal floor "ABSORB WATER FROM THE GRASS AND DIRT" this is just an amazing, but really stupid comment that is nothing more than someones imagination at work. Yes a car will get sun destroyed and will definitely rot out eventually but it will start so wherever the water COLLECTS, not on the bottom.

@@Samcrac 100% correct, water alone really just is not a problem for modern galvanised steel - it needs an electrolyte to eat the galvanization rapidly to start the rust - but sadly people don't science much so don't understand how galvanized steel works to prevent rust. I live in NZ, it rains like fuck here all the time to the point where my wife's car (which is the one that gets parked outside) is wet probably 70%+ of the year - it's a 19 year old Toyota that's been living outside for the last 14 years. Not even a tiny patch of rust on it. Now of course eventually the gavanization will give out, but with just rain water, it'll no doubt last for many decades to come. Of course they don't salt the roads here ever either, even further down the island where it does snow regularly they just use grit and scrapers.

I had 2 Soarers back in the day - a 1991 4.0 1UZ-FE I bought in 2001 - and a 1996 3.0 2JZ-GE I bought in 2005. Loved them both. First one got written off when some dumb asshole drove through a stop sign as I was driving past and spun me into oncoming traffic. The second one I sold with 260,000km on the clock plus whatever it had wound back from Japan, 9 years & 180,000km of those with me - still running like new, everything working perfectly. Awesome cars. I expect if they haven't already, they will start to gain value in coming years.

@@Hand_Banana Nah, I live in NZ so there are loads of people running used import businesses as there are no restrictions here. The first one (the 4 litre) I picked up at an auction house, the second one I bought at a small dealership. I do know people who have imported them though, they usually just get dedicated businesses in Japan to do all the work, and the car just shows up eventually - it doesn't sound like it is all that difficult - but if you are in the USA there are probably more hoops to jump through.

The mark up that importers resell here is nuts, in 2004 I bought a 92 R32 GTS-4 for $1500. They sell from an importer here for 20k + haha I could never justify paying that.

You guys gotta understand it’s part of the schtick and he openly admits to only knowing so much about certain cars. He plays more shady than he is. It’s really just so people like you will go, “wow. Wtf? This guy is nuts. Who knows what’s going on with these cars? “. Well, you’re right, who knows, but Alex has enough experience and already knows more about those cars than Sam does before he even gets there. He knows what to look for, and say even if that M6(?) has a hole in the bell housing, bit deal, I’m sure the cam a d cranks position sensors are confused as hell (I really mean the ECM, but those are the causes most likely.) , and I know the Mercedes W112 and W113 had cam sensors con the front of the heads, but generally Crank Position Sensors are on the back of the block down low. Sam all but stated that it was a gunshot hole. Picture a pissed off spouse, walking out and shooting their spouse’s prized possession. but not leaving an obvious hole through the hood. The recipient most likely didn’t know immediately what was the cause, cause who in the hell would look for a hole in the bell housing, and I’m sure it was more obscured by various covers, hoses, whatever, insulation, and the trigger person probably is still smiling ear to ear. They recipient could potentially accuse the other of such a deed, but I’ll bet that was the gamble in itself, they doubted the recipient would have the ….ummmm, fortitude, to do anything about it, lest they unleash the beast. The dealer told them it’d be $20,000 to fix it, insurance may have declared it done, who knows. But at least it’s status would legally have to be revealed to Alex, as in if had been totaled or whatnot. I’ll bet Sam would have taken $6 or 7$K, I’ll bet he paid $5k, and Alex could spend maybe less than $5k, maybe as much as $10k but I doubt it, and he’d have a $17,000 M6 worth,…..?! I have no earthly idea. Depending on documented history, if all clear, could be $30k? But I don’t care about Beemers. Just an interesting case where a discerning gear head could do well. (?). The revenge gunshot story sticks like that cow shit to your shoes, so run with it. Ever been around a rich “couple” where one or both isn’t or aren’t so, ……..ummm, fidelity driven? That M6 is a result. Seen it a million times. Well ok, just this time. But cow shit is very, very sticky. If a cow patty sticks to one of those tires with very low inner fender clearance, it can tear up some platic held on with push fasteners pretty quickly. It’s like half ass concrete if it dries on a tire that’s been turned a little with the patty getting sun. Ask me how I know this. Ok. It has locked up a front wheel on my old Crown Vic which was pushing the tire on slick morning dew grass until it hit dry dirt road, then BAM, that cow leaving almost knocked the front edge of the rocker panel molding completely off. JB Weld to the rescue. I live in very, very, similar land, about a few hours north, by my judgement of that property. Take the Jag, the Audi, steal them from Sam, let him make a grand or two on each, call it a day, that’s good biz, leave the M6. That things ugly and an answer to a question no one ever asked BMW. Ever. “Hey,could you build a useless “SUV”, with lousy rear headroom,few of the attributes of an SUV, a pathetically high CG, which is an affront to BMW core values, make it heavier than necessary to keep the bean counters happy, rip-off impulse buying non-enthusiasts who think they’ll have a unique Beemer, disregard quality control, always blame the customer, but buy back THAT CAR! Yeah, right. What waste of a good drivetrain. To put it in that tub of lard that looks like Mr. Bangle kicked an X5 in the ass really hard just as a prank, before blowing into the exhaust pipe u til it looked bloated and lazy. Yep. I did it. All of that. Don’t get me started.

I don't think the engine I have in mine was released on your side of the pond - a dirty diesel. 3000cc V6, bi-turbo, 275bho & 600nm torque. being a diesel, is simple and inexpensive to tune, mine makes 325bhg and 700nm - that torque is about the maximum the trans will take. 45mpg on a steady drive too.
