Yea thats what I was thinking, no way a battery thats been sitting years would still turn the engine over and the gas would almost certainly be bad. Cosmetically the tractor also looked too nice to have been sitting that long. My guess would be one year tops.

Fun video! This might have sat for a year or two tops. I bought a 52 Ford 8N that sat in a shed not running for at least 5-6 years and the old battery was leaking acid (I brought a new battery), points needed filed, and starting fluid needed to be sprayed into the carb. Even then, only one cylinder would fire at a time until they all finally fired. After about 20 minutes she was purring, but it took a bit more work initially. I love seeing these old tractors given new life. :)

I wish you could have been with my brother and I when we retrieved a DB30-D from a shed in Cliffe, North Yorkshire. I should really say, "The remains of a 30-D". It was the "Crop Master" style tractor complete with horseshoe scuttle panel and bench seat. Anyway, this shed was to say the least, fragile, and we had weakened the structure by hacking out the old "Botry Bush" that had grown through the tractor's steering gear and out through the tiled roof of the shed (it was a brick built shed). I was 'Muggins' on the dead tractor inside the shed, my brother was sitting pretty on his "Super Crop Master" outside the shed. As he pulled forward, my tractor lurched sideways as one wheel was stuck. It broke free, but now put my tractor on the wrong trajectory! - I was heading straight for the sun (cue Thunderbirds music). As we moved forward, I tried my best to haul the steering wheel round to get back on course. The tractor's front end emerged from the shed, but that lurch had put the left rear wheel onto a collision course with the shed's door frame (more Thunderbirds music), and as the tractor came out through the opening, it pulled out the remains of the door frame. As it did so, there was nothing left to support the wooden lintel over the doorway. It collapsed onto the ground, followed by the brick gable. Now, with nothing to support it, the roof first sagged, then fell in, followed by the side walls. Now, I didn't really dare to look, but as we pulled forward, there was a definite rumble of falling bricks, and a cloud of dust and crap which enveloped the tractors. As the dust settled, I looked back to see a pile of rubble, and a great deal of ivy where the shed used to be. - Just think "Laurel & Hardy" - You won't be far off! We apologised to the shed's owner, for the destruction, and he gave us back a tenner off the price we'd paid for the tractor and said "That's alright, you've just saved me £50 on the demolition. . All I have to do now is shovel it up"! Ah, a Sunday afternoon in the summer of 1981 - Happy days.
@DanielleWhite4 жыл бұрын
When you towed it out I had a moment of envisioning that moldboard meeting the radiator of the other tractor. Mostly because my brother and father managed that trick once - had a AC D17 diesel that had a bad electrical system so had to be coast/pull started. My brother stalled it on level ground. My father, in his usual hurry, decides to pull start it with the AC 180 but doesn't take the large round bale fork off that first. My brother wasn't quite fast enough on the clutch and brakes when the D17 fired up. The point did, at least, stop just short of the fan.

I will suggest to connect up jumper cables with Positive First and Negative last, as Negative is usually a body ground. The Positive is just one point and it could accidentally touch the wrong contact and short something out. Just a suggestion, it's what I was taught and I always do positive to positive then negative to negative. (When jumping a car at least) and trust me you will definitely know if you've connected them backwards, I did that once and it sounded like I was welding with 2 car batteries lmao

this tractor was between ford, and massey. fergusons are rare because there wasn't a lot of time between the two. ferguson invented the three point hitch, and everyone wanted to use it. ford helped him perfect it, and massey reaped the rewards. allis, case and international bought rights to use. every tractor has it now. some have modified it for quick change, but almost 100 years later, it is still two arms, and a center link.
