I didn't know the custom settings were still in the game, neat. for those who don't know, these are the custom worlds generation settings that were removed in 1.13 because they were broken and the game crashed a lot in custom worlds. you could change every aspect of the world generation from ore rates to noise settings

the dummy dimension looks like a residual code that the devs forgot to delete and the bedrock roof spawn is the overworld anti-softlock forcing the player to go up as the world spawn should never have a solid block over the player

@@TreeBranchStudios if you go back to pre 1.13 and create a custom world, you can copy those settings into a datapack and turn it into a new dimension. really fun stuff like a dimension where all ores have 10x spawn rate but it's always night and sculk infested. kinda annoying to do but very fun where you understand what you are doing

you can create a custom dimension using custom world generation settings. yes you can make a custom world with sculk. you don't need to use the pre 1.13 game menu but it's a lot easier than writing it directly in the world gen file, you would still have to do in the file to control the newer stuff like biomes or hight limit

I recognize the dimensions. The “dummy” Demension is a customized superflat. The “caves” is the single biome caves setup, but idk why you started at the roof. The “floating islands” is the single biome floating islands setup.

These "dimensions" are just dimension types for datapacks. You can easily create a datapack with custom dimensions and biomes. You can access your custom dimensions using /execute as @s in your_dimension_name run tp ~ ~ ~. You can even change overworld settings using a datapack without any functions or minecraft code editing.

I'm gonna assume the dummy dimension is just that. A dummy to make it easier to add new ones if they want. You should try to see what the oldest version to have this dummy dimension is. If it's fairly recent (1.18,1.19) it may actually mean they are working on a new dimension.

"Floating island" and "cave" are actually just the names they used for the Nether and End Island world gens in the buffet world type. Kinda confusing initally, but it makes sense when you use it in-game

The dummy dimension seems to just be a lava pool dimension. The structures present in it just spawn because the game is treating it like the dimension you set it in, so it loads the same structures as it would in the normal version of the world.
