This one is a bit tricky to say for sure what it was a prototype of. The 2019 HP LP is likely the most correct answer, but this is the heel carve that was ultimately used on the Modern Either way - it is a beautiful finish that is a little bit milder than a typical Seafoam fade! 🟢My Website: www.troglysguitarshow.com 🔴Reverb: reverb.com/shop/troglys?_aid=growsumo&gs_partner=Trogly

What a great find. No fret nibs, are the frets the modern Cryo-Treated material?. BTW, I've a weakness for the Sea Foam / Surf Green colors, the way the flame catches the color is beautiful on this top.

This is a Prototype for my 2019 Standard. The bridge knob flips the side on the coil split but not the Tap. It is nice because you can move the tone closer to the bridge or neck or farther away from the bridge or neck with a coil split. Great tones.

I’m sure I’m in the minority but I’m a huge fan of richlite and wish it was offered more widely. It’s consistent in color, feels good, and is sustainable. 2:40

I wish they would bring it back for some crazy colored fretboards. Something like they have on the buckethead Les Paul’s but maybe all red or blue or something like that. To me that was always its main appeal.
@jeffm.2857 Жыл бұрын
@15:45 The "high pass filter" is dip switch #5 and is either on our off for all modes. Pulling up the bridge tone knob turns on the ability to change which coils are split/tapped, so it has to be used when either volume knob is also pulled up. It doesn't do much for tapped, but on split there is a subtle difference between then inner and outer coil of each pickup.
@ingos5233 Жыл бұрын
I think he confused this with the current LP Modern and former non-HP LP Standards (PCB with four Push-Poll-Pots but no DIP-Switches). Pulling the bridge tone knob there activates the "pure bypass" which connects the bridge PU directly to the output jack, making the sound much brighter.

That case is SWEET. I hope they come out with that again! Btw, I had a richlite GLP black beauty custom and I just loved it. The richlite is just pure black, zero imperfection, perfectly uniform, zero maintenance. I know it's not really highly coveted but I really loved that richlite fretboard! I should have never sold that guitar, but had to downsize for cash. Ugh I'll always miss it. Great video. A+++

@ericbgordon1575 Жыл бұрын
I've just had a thought. I think Gibson Epiphone coil splitting is flawed for a particular reason. Instead of Simply eliminating one of the two House of the pickup, they wind up actually choking the output of the one which is supposed to be on. That is something you don't get from other manufacturers that employee coil splitting in their H-H, H-S, H-S-S , S-H or H-S-H models. To clarify, a high-pass filter is frequently employed in synthesizers. It is used to circumvent high harmonics as you lower the cutoff frequency and emphasize low ones. It's opposite to the low pass filter more commonly featured in subtractive synthesis that permits all available harmonics to pass through when you open it all the way up but sidesteps the lower ones when you shut the cutoff frequency. I don't see it being of much use integrated into a guitar.
@AndrewAHayes Жыл бұрын
I never see true tapped pickups these days on production guitars which is a pity as you get the single coil sound but with none of the 50 cycle hum with tapped humbuckers, also the tapped high output single coils that were tapped to normal output levels were a favourite of mine, they were very popular in the '80s but usually custom wound.

I'm pretty sure the high pass filter is the same as what most of us call a treble bleed circuit. If so, you'll notice the treble doesn't drop off as you lower the volume knobs. Since you didn't play with the volume controls when trying the high pass filter, you didn't notice any difference. Set the volume on 5 and you'll likely hear the difference when the filter is engaged.

Gibsons are known for breaking on the neck right there, in my opinion it should be standard on ALL guitars just to try to stop that known problem with them.

That thing sounds great! I prefer the coil tap setting over the coil split-the tap sounds more like an actual single-coil rather than half a humbucker. 2019 was a "Short Model Year" for Gibson and was interrupted by the new lineup (introduced in Spring 2019 and then going forward through today). The 2019 Short Year Standard came in Sea Foam Green and Blueberry Burst. It had all the features of this one except the Rhino bump on the back of the neck, carved heal, and belly cut. Also, it came with a Rosewood Fretboard and not Richlite. This could almost be a prototype for both. Also, the new standards are either 50s Standards or 60s Standards so the 2019 Short Year Standards were the last just plain old Standards and they came in Seafoam Green!

i get the fact that epiphones are often better value but there are many products where the brand name is key. sort of like Harley Davidson. yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices yet many people who ride cruisers must have an HD. i would not buy a gibson clone like epiphone. i would not buy a squire strat or tele either. i was in a band where our rhythm guitarist primarily used a squire tele. heck, it played and sounded great. the only way i could tell it was not a fender was the name etched on the head stock. if i am going to get a more budget friendly guitar, i would get a cut and look that is unique to that brand. but to each his/her own.
