This makes me want to cry... I lost my Budgie years ago when my ex opened the window after work one day. The rent house we lived in did not have any screens on the windows. I looked for her for months, I posted lost ads with her photo on every site I could and made fliers with her pic and posted them all over the city. She was close in color to the light/pastel looking budgie you have so quite recognizable and very beautiful with the sweetest personality. I was completely sick over the whole thing. Worried about her starving to death. We never found her. I always hoped that someone found her and just kept her because she was so pretty because that would have been better than her starving. I still think about her from time to time. We only recently decided to get another Budgie as it took years to even want to try again I was so upset about the thought of what she must have gone through. It makes me happy to see that there are people out there willing to rescue a lost Budgie in need. Anyone that thinks they should be let go in the wild or left alone if they "escape" is extremely ill informed. They will and do starve to death as they are not used to foraging and most do not know how to survive in the wild. The ones raised for generations as pets have lost the skills needed for survival. Not to mention that unless they are lost in the right climate they will freeze to death. they are not made to endure cooler climates.

Poor little bird. If it wasint abandoned, I really hope the owner finds you. If i lived in the area id have loved to have adopted her if she needs a home. Good luck with the little flicka. I found a budgie and I tried to keep her. But it turned out she had never been trained at all, and she basically hated humans. She screamed loudly and chased and bit my two other birds and upset them all the time. I couldn’t train her at all, impossible. I trained my 2 other birds to step up and come to me and to go into their cages when I needed them to so I could leave the house or, heck, go to the bathroom. But after a month I realized she wasn’t going to be tamed, she was basically a wild bird in my house screaming loudly, biting my other birds, attacking them, just hating humans, and untamable. Sometimes you shouldn’t shame or pressure people into keeping an animal that would be better off in a different situation. If everyone is upset and stressed out and the bird is unhappy, it’s best to find a better situation for yourself and the bird. Which is what I have to do

She has white around her nostrils and the cere is light blue which means female. Females can have light blue ceres with white around the nostrils, very light blue to white Ceres, tan Ceres and dark brown when in breeding mode.

Thank you for saving this bird. It’s crazy how many people in the comments have just so happened to have lost a budgie! People need to be more careful with their windows, not let their birds get out. Did you know there is also a trend in recent years of people making viral videos on Tik Tok of themselves “freeing” their budgies? It’s terrible. I suspect a lot of these birds people keep finding are some of these TikTok budgies. I kind of wish chain pet stores would stop selling them so cheap for this reason

What a lucky bird being found by a sincere bird lover! If she will present a challenge to your flock, you shouldn't keep her. Your flock is your primary concern regarding safety. With your contacts, I think you would be able to locate a good home for her. Whatever you decide, keep us informed! Also how is that little baby you were feeding? Reminds me how I was out walking last year and saw 2 parrots on the ground at a puddle of water. I thought, omg, escaped pets. Turns out, nope, quaker parrots in Houston are here in some quantity and seem to do well in this climate. The two I saw were very far from where they are normally spotted though. Several people were gathered around trying to figure out how to help them "get back to their owners". Then they flew happily off. One thing I noticed is there were a few blackbirds and crows on the ground with them, and there was no aggressive behavior. So the local birds seem to get along with them.

Another lucky budgie to be found by you. It was just in a nick of time before a storm and cold. I don’t think she would have made it for another night without you and your husband. God bless the both of you for all you do! Budgies are so addictive. You certainly have a dilemma there. If No one claims her, do you think by letting her have her own cage but let her play with the flock be ok? Or you think the 9 males will still be distracted and disruptive to the flock?

I remember when I was a child (and had a completely tamed pet budgie) my neighbour knocked on our door with a budgie on his head. This poor budgie landed on his car when he came home from work and jumped on his head when he got out of the car. He knew we had a budgie and thought maybe it was ours. This bird was tame. We said "no" it wasn't ours but we would take it if noone claimed him. No one did (so sad) but our neighbour went and got a cage and kept him. This budgie had a good life because our neighbour decided to keep and love him. Not one person came to claim him. Sad...

Years ago a budgie came into my yard and I put a cage with millet out and the budgie went right in. No one in the neighbor claimed him. He remained in our house for years and brought us a lot of joy. Me and my parrots, Amazon, Caique, Cockatoos and I enjoy your videos.

Sadly sometimes they are let go. I have heard stories of them being let go. My sister works at a vet and was told that someone let all his Lovebird's loose as he could not be bothered to find them homes.

She will be put to sleep if you hand her over to the institution, it is honestly a lot easier to just find her a good home. You know the requirements to keep birds, Ontario is a big city you will find someone quickly! Just make sure to ask for a small donation (10$) to scare bad owners away, you can return them the money in the end or donate it to an institution, in my experience people looking for "freebies" or impulse buyers are not responsible keepers. If they are not willing to provide that amount then they are not serious about the animal either. P.S - We have been serving as a private bird (and occasionally cat) shelter for abused animals for a couple of years now. Much luck and thank you for your service and for being such an excellent bird mom 🐦

She is a gorgeous girl! She has a healthy cere, a lot of females have these growth on the cere but she hasn't. And her color is wonderful. I am not qualified enough to tell you what to do with her but with nine males... I don't know. Even if she gets along with all of them and they do not start to fight, she might mate and lay eggs... Do what you think is the best for her. :)

For a start I do live in Australia. (Adelaide). My canary at the time Neil, kept tweeting at me. We could hear a finch PEEP PEEPS Then yes we saw it. Sitting under Neil’s cage catching spill over seed. Now much to Neil’s dislike I propped up the cage door. Well Sir Edmond Hillary popped into the cage had a feed Made a friend and gained a family. We lost one of our budgies last year in early spring. We were so heart broken. She flew out the door as we were leaving for work and was missing for 3 long days. It got so cold one night that I never thought she would make it. I posted every day on Facebook that she was missing and I showed pictures of her. Well, she was found 3 miles away at a friend of mine on Facebook and he caught her! She was in one of his trees and he said he knew he would only have one chance to grab her or she would fly away. He had her in a box and posted on social media that he had found someones pet bird. My friend messaged me and said that she thought this was my Dolly Girl. Sure enough, it was! I was so tickled. We went right out to get her. The local newspaper did a story on her and how we got her back after 3 days. I have 3 budgies and I love your channel. Please keep this bird. She needs you.

I also found a budgie in London UK 2 years ago, was almost evening and he was on the pavement by the bus stop. I outstretched my hand and he hopped on my finger. Luckily I had a big cage with finches at home and he was happy to go there. I would not give a bird up once I found it. I don't care about ethics or rubbish rules. If they lost it, they were not good enough to have it and I know my birds lived over 10 years so they will be happy here.

You should always look for the owners. It's the same if one of your birds accidentally got away, wouldn't you want the bird back? My Lovebird flew out the door a few years ago and fortunately he came right back to me, however I would be so grateful if someone else found him and brought him back to me.

Hi from Australia. We found a green boy budgie on top of a wall being attacked by a magpie. We rescued him, and no one claimed him so we kept him for many years. He bought us lots of joy, and we discovered a love of birds, and now have 2 new budgies and a cockatiel. Your video was so inspiring and so good to watch your determination to rescue your budgie, what a lucky bird. Love of Pets no I wish we did! We live near the coast in the south west of Australia. Budgies prefer more desert like conditions further north. Pretty Boy that we rescued was quite tame and clearly a pet. We had him for a couple of years and he was quiet and never used the toys and ladders we put in his cage (very large flight cage kept inside). Then we got a girl budgie and omg he changed overnight! He became noisy and so active and bonded with Priscilla immediately, It was like he was waiting for her...lol. I guess he must have been with other budgies, they are social animals and we wished we’d got him a companion years ago. So cute ☺️ Sadly they both passed last year.

Only a vet should clip wings to prevent cruel mutilation. Thank you for helping this dear little lost budgie. Use a light cotton blanket to throw over escaped bird next time. Only you can decide what to do. Don't rely on the opinions of strangers in this instant. This is a beautiful helpless living creature ever so tiny. Normally lives in huge flocks of green clouds. Your other birds probably would love her company and she them.

Many years ago, a friend of mine caught an escaped budgie. She gave it to me to look after while we tried to find it’s owner, but no one ever came forward. He ended up living with us for many years and was a wonderful bird. We named him Jerry.

I still have her and I always listen to the birds outside to make sure there are no pets birds that got loose as there are so many that got loose from open windows and doors. I saw on a local lost and found bird group that there are over 100 budgies that got loose 😮
