I found bankline!!

like many of you i have been having a hard time finding tarred bankline to use in my woodscraft projects. I tried looking on amazon but everything i found was not tarred but just plain black nylon cord that will not do for our uses. Then i found a source and that source is

they have #36 tarred bankline
#9 tarred bank line
#12 tarred bankline
and
#96 (big stuff!!) tarred line
they have them in small and large rolls so i wanted to share with my followers since it has become so hard to find in recent yrs.

I got myself about 200 feet of "Catahoula" No.21 twisted bank line I keep in the vehicle bag for anything that might pop up. My hardest decision was choosing twisted over braided line. I figure because it could be used for any role, I might want to be able to strip the line down to make it thinner. Braided is a little harder to do that. Once again, great video!

I've never had a problem buying bank line. I also order it out of Louisiana from a fish net supplier. They also carry braided tarred line. I like the bonded green because it does stay together an doesn't turn my fingers black an holds a knot just like the tarred. I'm almost 40 thousand knots into a net right now an with the tarred #18 from Nets an More. They have tarred line by the pound up to #120 . There line in made here in America.

I agree with you about the important uses of tarred bank line. Nothing else measures up. Bombproof Bushcraft has an excellent selection of tarred bank line, as well as other cordage, but their only shipping option is UPS for $50.00. Ouch. I can see why you bought a lot of it at once. Hey jerry! Shipping is not a profit center for me. The website calculates per piece shipping, which in 1-2 piece orders is about right. However on big multi piece orders it makes crazy shipping costs. I refund all shipping over and above the actual cost of the shipping when I process the order. Blackie Dave Canterbury's self reliance outfitters has it on their website as in stock also he carries number 6 and 36 (by memory!) other sizes i'm not certain on! also Jann's netcraft has a bonded nylon for net making that works halfway descent i haven't had many knots slip with that! keep that in mind if this source dries up that maybe an option til you find a new one! also if you can find any braided decoy anchor cord works pretty descent but it's made something like a paracord but with finer inner strands it holds knots good especially when wet! i'll tell ya though the best all around cord i've found is surplus bomb lanyard cord!!

They carry #6, #12, and #36. It's usually in stock. If Dave Canterbury is selling it you can take it to the bank that it will be legit, the quality will be unbeatable, his customer service people are first rate, he stands behind his products, and if at all possible he actively seeks out American Made suppliers. The downside is that he's usually not the cheapest guy in town. I've bought things from Madison at various gatherings and likewise I have nothing but good things to say about her and her products although I've not ordered anything from her online. Once again, you're buying from someone who is here in the Bushcraft Community and stands behind her stuff. You'll be in good shape buying from either one. ESPECIALLY when compared to someplace like Amazon where even if you do happen to get lucky and find the right stuff, it'll probably come from China.

Hey ahouser53! Shipping is not a profit center for me. The website calculates shipping per piece. Usually it is good on 1-2 piece orders. BUT on multi piece big orders it racks up shipping quickly. I refund all shipping cost over and above the actual cost of shipping. Shipping is usually between 10.00 low side and 20.00 high side as I use usps flat rate or regional boxes. Believe me I have no interest in taking hard earned money from folks for shipping. Hope this helps.

its the line used to make nets for ocean fishing also often used for the base line in trot lines

Blackie, that line is misrepresented. It claims to not unravel, but it will unravel because it is twisted and not braided. I personally think that twisted tarred line is superior to braided, since, for instance, # 36 line can be untwisted into 3 pieces of #12 line and you can't do that with braided. Braided line sells for a much higher price because it won't unravel, so this company is being deceptive and they are either getting a higher price for the line than they should by passing it off as having the characteristics of braided line, which it doesn't, or they are tricking their customers into thinking they are getting braided line at a really cheap price. I don't know what you paid for it , so I don't know which way they are deceiving their customers. I would also like to know how "tarred" the line is. Walmart sells "tarred" bank line that is mostly just "black" bank line. It isn't tacky at all. The good tarred bank line made by Catahoula Manufacturing has so much tar on it that the #60 and #96 line will make your pack smell like a freshly paved road. I found all of their sizes and styles on Amazon today (3/4/22), so I don't see why you would need to accept lesser quality from another company.

I buy it from my local Wal Mart. If they are out I can order online and get it shipped next day. Been a Tarred bank line user for many years. Although it has gotten harder to get but online at wal mart is best I have found .

i worked for walmart in sporting goods for 17yrs up untill last may we had it but then we changed and what we got it was not it was black but unraveld easy and would not hold a knot.. i had to take it back i am all stocked up now should have enough for a yr or so

At my area they still carried it and as it may not be the same as the Bombcraft excellent tarred bank line. I will check it out and see. i use #36 for 90% of my stuff the #9 is for whipping ropes and adding a grip to gear as well as drop fishing lines for survival kits the #12 is something i am trying out and the big #96 is when i want the power of 550 paracord but the long lasting durability of banklines that is the usual uses for me and i usualy buy big like this time and i will have enough line for the next 2 or 3 yrs of projects

i got burned on 4 seperate sites on line ( amazon among them ) they claimed it was tarred #36 bankline what i got was plain black nylon cord all of my local sites had dried up.. thus i was looking and found bombproof bushcraft had all the stuff i need and i know Madison so when i placed the order i knew she knew what i was looking for and she had exactly what i was wanting to buy there may be other sites on amazon / ebay but i dont know of any i was just wanting to share my find with the followers .. not trying to bad mouth anyone

Hey Kevin! Working on learning ins and outs of overseas shipping. I keep running into customs and duty issues. I have already replied to tons of comments on here regarding the shipping on my site. I refund shipping over and above the actual cost of shipping, my website calculates per piece shipping so multiple piece orders creates CRAZY high shipping. In the past I have had customs and duty fees that are crazy. So I’m trying to get into that a bit and figure out how to economically send overseas.
