Nothing beats the Swedish cinnamon bun! I have really enjoyed them on my trip so far and plan on a few more for fika before I leave! I have been having such a lovely time that I don’t want to leave. Great fun vlog Miro-as always 😊

Exactly! Some say that it's a bit dry...but then again, some people have no taste :D Glad to hear that you're taking some time to enjoy fika properly! And yeah I guess it's a bit addictive to see all the cool places when traveling eh? I know the feeling! ;D Thank you, and cheers!

It's a lovely place to visit - my first time there was with my 6 month old daughter, she got her first teddy bear there! Doesn't seem to have changed, and she is almost 45 now! Thanks for posting this video - brings back some lovely memories :)

Early next year I'll be going through Denmark. I'm going to ride Flixbus from the Netherlands to Sweden. My grandma was an upright Svenska Kvinna. When I was a kid, I really had to mind her.

Looks like such a lovely place to visit, and it's pretty cool that they've got some actual viking era artifacts at that museum, definitely not something I would expect to find in California! And briefly touching back on cinnamon rolls, I'm not sure if you've been to Ikea in the states but I have some bad news for you 😅 Hope you have a nice week! I look forward to your next video
@ThreeStarVagabond
@ThreeStarVagabond 4 ай бұрын
Noooo! They've defiled even IKEA! :D But yeah I was actually pleasantly surprised by a lot of things in Solvang. Hm... Now that you mention it, I completely forgot to visit an IKEA in the US! That would also have been a lot of fun...

I’m glad to see the Swedish influence in the USA Danish town? That just sounds weird, but then again it is California. I’ve only known cinnamon rolls to have icing on them until I had one in Sweden and the Swedish one was actually much better. I do have one question do the danish people make fun of the Swedish. Fun and interesting video, stay safe till next time.
@ThreeStarVagabond

Thank you! And happy to hear that you like the Swedish cinnamon rolls :D But oh absolutely - the Danish poke a lot of fun at the Swedes. And the Norwegians too. (A common Norwegian football chant is "we can buy all of Sweden if we want"). So, it's definitely not just one-way...
@Soundbrigade
@Soundbrigade 4 ай бұрын
TSV gave a good answer to that question, but on some occasions, often related to sport events we are true enemies, like the soccer game between Sweden and Denmark or a Sweden/Norwegian skiing competition. Else we are like siblings, the Oresund connection (bridge/tunnel) has brought Swedes and Danes closer with Swedes enjoying the food and beer in Denmark and Danes enjoying the forrests and hills in Sweden. The same goes for Norwegians coming to Sweden to buy alcohol and candies which are MUCH cheaper in Sweden, while Swedes enjoy the dramatic landscapes in Norway. I must point out that we have a fourth sibling - the Finns and though many of them speak a completely different language we still see them as family members. Many years ago Swedish TV aired a comedy series called Mosebacke Monarchy where the Helmer Bryd’s Eminent Five Quartet played the Norgesången (the Norway Song), roasting Norway and the Norwegians. Well, it didn’t take long before our neighbors replied …

Never visited Solvang but did have cinnamon rolls at a Danish café in the Bavarian town of Levenworth in the Washington alps. That was one of the most peculiar places we’ve ever visited.

I can imagine! I really loved this visit because of the weird almost-Danish feeling, and I also had a lot of fun in Kingsburg (a "Swedish" town)

Indeed, Leavenworth is a very strange place, and, unlike Solvang, has no European roots. Beautiful nature but the town is extremely kitschy.

A really fun video, but we do need to address this cinnamon bun issue. Somebody needs to be brave enough to not put the icing on, and explain to customers that the pearl sugar is the authentic way. I'll bet that the correct cinnamon bun with pearl sugar will catch on.

I agree about cinnamon buns vs. cinnamon rolls. I've eaten my share of cinnamon rolls, but over time, they seemed to get covered in MORE icing and just...well, you shouldn't crunch sugar when eating an otherwise nice pastry! But Solvang seems like it has its charms...even if, as you put it, it's like a dream made real vs. a genuine recreation.
@ThreeStarVagabond
@ThreeStarVagabond 4 ай бұрын
Yeah, to me the icing is ironically enough not the icing on the cake. But I guess that I can be a bit extreme in that way. I love cupcakes without any frosting at all, for example. Solvang really is a pretty place, so I'm happy I visited. But if I were hoping for something more genuine I think I would have been disappointed!

That town is clearly a below par imitation of Denmark. Parts of it looks more Bavarian than Danish. 5:30 - "Ris à la mande" is pronounced more or less like "rissalamang". 7:22 - Lots of Wasa knækbrød sold in Denmark. Not sure if there even are any Danish brands.🤔 8:22 - Pancakes & Tuborg? WTF? 😂 Must be meant for a drunken night on the town?
@ThreeStarVagabond

Haha yeah! There were a lot of Belgian waffle places all over town for some reason! And oh. Haha, I've never heard anyone pronounce it but there you go. Well, why would you make knäcke when you have rugbröd right? That's bloody delicious... Haha! I wish I had filmed it - I just saw a sign when walking past, and I thought I'd return to it later. I swear it was Tuborg and aebleskiver :D
