I've encountered many mainland Chinese who said that Malaysians speak the Mandarin language somewhat incorrectly. One of my Malaysian Hakka friends is a senior tour guide and even she had to "suffer" correction from the mainland Chinese tourists. But I think what happen is that the language had been adapted to the locality and developed slightly different style according to the locals. If we use the French language for example, there are words and expressions that the French people in France use that the French in Quebec, Canada don't or have replaced, albeit they come from the same ancestry. Then the are also words and expressions used in the French speaking Vietnam, French speaking Middle East, French speaking Africa, etc, that may not be used in France or Quebec, etc.
