i’m obsessed with love, theoretically. literally don’t know what to do with myself now that i’ve finished it. loved how the plot wasn’t what i was expecting. loved the relationship between elsie and jack and i loved jack and elsie as well. it made me feel so much 😍

Love, Theoretically is definitely my fave of Ali Hazelwood's so far!! It was so gentle. Obsessed.

I think it’s totally valid to skip authors/books in list videos! It’s nice of you to think to give the books a chance but if you have a pretty decent inkling that you’re not going to like it it’s probably best to skip it. I love hearing you talk about any book (whether it’s one you like or not) but you don’t need to suffer through books for our/the video’s sake :’)

I stopped reading Ali Hazelwood because of how similar all her books are but I love that you like her books. It sounds like Love Theoretically shows that she’s growing a little but I don’t think it’s enough to get me to pick it up. Your review solidified that for me lol

I agree. If I read a new author - either new or new to me - and I really like their book, I don't necessarily want to read the same type of story with the same type of characters again and again. It doesn't keep my interest. That's why I'm not the biggest fan of romances with multiple sequels, featuring a huge friend group or siblings. Unless the author can shake it up some way, to me, it just gets boring.

The problem that's plaguing Ali hazelwood's writing and that has become too noticeable to me is the heavy reliance on miscommunication and misunderstandings, I can't count the times the mcs are constantly interrupted which leads to more misunderstandings and assumptions and jumping to conclusions like how are these supposedly "smart" adults? It's a poor plot device and it's tired and overused, so frustrating and takes much of the fun of the story

I didn't like Funny You Should Ask but almost picked up Once More With Feeling earlier today because the synopsis was so cute. After seeing your review, I'm so glad I didn't because the reasons you list for not enjoying the book are the same things I didn't like in Sussman's last book. I don't think she's the author for me either

This vlog just confirms that I will trust Chandler’s book reviews above all else. I had the exact same thoughts about Unfortunately Yours and I feel like the concise way you review or discuss books helps me truly decide whether I want to give them a read or not. Which is why I’m going to give Ali Hazelwood ONE MORE TRY since I’ve been determined to be her silent sworn enemy, as I have so far despised all of her books lol

You should read done and dusted by Lyla Sage. It's a small town, cowboy romance with a brothers bestfriend trope (I know not your fave) but the FMC is a professional horse rider. Super good and short on KU!!!

I enjoyed Unfortunately yours a lot, but I agree with everything you said in the video, it was TOO instalovely, at some point when they are already expressing feelings for each other or they admit it to themselves or something, someone mentions that it has been a certain number of days since their fake marriage. I was like what?? but I still gave it 4.5 stars lmao I love Tessa Bailey's books

Something I've discovered when reading books sometimes, especially when reading books written by the same author, is that I think of how highly I think of a book kind of like it's a line which can dip and/or spike up or down[ on some kinda graph/chart or something with how much I did or didn't like it being indicated on a scale from bottom to top but also stretching from left to right in accordance with how much I liked it going from the start all the way along to finish of the book] all depending on whether or not there are certain things or moments or scenes that I like more or less than others... And will personally rate a book higher on the liked/enjoyed scale oftentimes based more on how much I liked it overall than on whether or not its highest highs were higher than some other book's highest high moment(s). If that makes any sense?. Like even if there were certain things about a particular book which I liked so much more than I liked anything else about a different book, I will still rate the other/different book higher than I rated that one particular book, *IF* I somehow liked or enjoyed the majority of that particular book somewhat less than I liked or enjoyed the majority of that other/different book even despite that one particular book having those few things or moments which I liked a lot more than I enjoyed even the highest highs of the other/different book. Because I personally consider that not so much liking or enjoying the book, so much as I just really liked or enjoyed those few particular moments or scenes or other elements of the one particular book. But that's just me; and I can totally understand why someone else might do the opposite, because even if it wasn't the whole entire book overall, those particular super high moments or things/elements about that one particular book might stand-out or stick in mind a bit more memorably in the long-run or something while the other/different book may end up being a bit more forgettable in general even in spite of having been theoretically an overall less enjoyed experience. Rating books truly can be tough sometimes, especially when thinking of them in comparison to each other rather than as completely independent/unrelated entities! ^-^

I totally agree with this. I’ve thought about it since I played a couple of games some years ago, where game A had higher highs for me but also lower lows, while game B was steadily enjoyable the whole way through. The highs weren’t as high but the lows weren’t as low either so ultimately the overall experience was better.

Glad to know once more with feeling isn’t worth my time😂 just read funny you should ask and was SO disappointed. Like you were saying with this one, I just felt like there was so much potential that wasn’t explored. the storytelling itself was interesting to me but the romance was basically non-existent they barely interacted with each other and neither of them really had any growth to overcome the inherent issues in their relationship which was such a let down. Felt like I just kept waiting for something to happen in the relationship and then instead the book just ended.

I think it's fine to pass on authors you've already given a shot for list videos. I also think it's fine to DNF for list videos. I'm trying to do more DNFing in my own life. There are no prizes for grounding through a book you don't enjoy and plenty of other books out there that you might love.
