Nice to see some love for High Tide!I was Head of A&R at Liberty/United Artists from 1970 to 1977.I signed High Tide in 1969 when i was Label Manager and the group was managed by my oldest friend after moving to London.Tony Hill the singer/guitarist was from Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and was previously a member of the legendary Missunderstood.Simon House the violin player later played in The Third Ear Band and was a member of Hawkwind whom i signed in 1970.We thought at the time this was the heaviest album released up to that time!Second album also worth hearing.Paul Whitehead designed the cover(did Early Genesis covers)from front cover image i found in an antique book.Tony is no longer with us.Simon very much is! As is my still great friend the manager Wayne Bardell. You can read more about these days in my 2023 book"Happy Trails"(unashamed plug)

I was born in 1967. I had never heard of Love and Arthur Lee until around the 1990s. Read that Forever Changes was one of the greatest albums ever produced. I got it and got hooked immediately. Arthur Lee was an overlooked genius . Was friends with Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix and was a poet and LSD songwriting original. Saw him with my late sister on the 2003 tour at Town Hall NYC. Great finds once again, Sorin! I would love to find a clean mono copy as you did of the “Sgt. Pepper” album! I have heard it said that “You haven’t heard Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band until you’ve heard the Mono version”! Too bad about that disappointing trip to look at 200 Bert Kampfert, Billy Vaughn, Lawrence Welk, John Gary, Al Hirt, Jim Nabors and Montavani albums! Just guessing on those, but that’s the usual “stuff” that we run into when searching for grails! Walter

The thing with the mono/stereo debate is that differences are really noticeable in some cases, especially if your ears are so use to hearing one version in particular. I managed to grab a mono copy of Pink Floyd's "Piper At The Gates..." album years ago, and after having listened to the stereo version for so long, the subtle differences popped out straight away. It's kind of like the sounds you know are etched in your brain, and then suddenly it's like.. "what was that?" Got a couple of World Of Oz singles, including a nice Italian piccy sleeve of the "Willow's Harp" 45.

Nice one on the High Tide....its a great heavy record for sure. You need their 2nd lp as well obviously. I like both of the Glass Prism LPs. Check out the hip hop group People Under The Stairs - Blowin' Wax track. They sample A Dream Within A Dream and it works beautifully. Definitely pick up their 2nd lp as well (also sampled by the classic hip hop group The Beatnuts in the early 90s). I still need a clean Born To Be Wild, just don't see it here in the UK. Forever Changes is in my top 5 records of all time. I bought my first copy in the early 90s (early 70s press), then a late 60s press and just this year finally a UK OG mono. So a 30+ year wait for an original but I'd still prefer to get a US stereo OG. I don't think I have another 30 years left in me though 😄. Some great other buys as well Sorin. Cheers Nige

Check out his routine on YT where he cuts up two copies of Thin Lizzy Johnny The Fox whilst rapping over the top, totally unique. Anyway, B&TB is choc full of psych samples and he uses some strings off Little Boy Blues to great effect. I can absolutely guarantee the LP will knock your socks off Sorin!
