Hey Sorin! Welcome to the world of the annual VC Vinyl Tag LoL! The Vinyl Tag was my first video almost 7 yrs ago now Man I’m old! Glad to see your take on these questions. That July find is outstanding! One of the first psych adjacent LPs I ever bought was in high school when I picked up an early press of Jimi Hendrix Are You Experienced? I was so drawn to the cover and then I was completely blown away by the music within! Wow how did I forget Rush Neil Peart on drums?!? He had one of the coolest drum kits I’ve ever seen! Ya know how some guys put together these huge drum sets and only use like half of it? Well NP utilized every piece and he’s magnificent! That Moving Pictures album was one of my go to albums also back in high school. I remember hearing Tom Sawyer on our college radio station all the time back then. And Witch Hunt always freaked me out Haha! Matt Sands is an awesome guy! He’s part of the VC in my area around St Louis He lives just a bit on the Illinois side and I’ve been to his RS a couple times You may want to send him some positive vibes as he had another super bad health issue recently with an Aortic Aneurysm or dissection It’s his 2nd Some of us pitched in and got him a record cleaner Yeah keep him in your thoughts and prayers! Loved your tag vid Sorin! ✌️👽

Thank you! Haha. I plan to do one every year now. Jimi is in my top 5 favorite artsists for sure. Neil was certainly out of this world. I had the great chance of seeing rush live, unfortunately I was 7-8 and I can't remember most of it! I love Matt Sands, I'd love to visit his store one day. Positive vibes have been sent! Hi Sorin. 👋 I like Parliament too, I remember dancing at the Disco to their hit song Flashlight. It was released in late 1977 , so it will no doubt be on that record you have. I love the Doors as well , my favorite song by them is Touch Me from 1968 / 69. It would give me goosebumps in a good way when I would hear it coming out of the radio then. The Who are so good , their first single Can't Explain from 1964 is one i loved when i heard it in my childhood. There is a cool video of the Who performing the song in black and white on youtube. Great archival clip with young Mods dancing to it. I agree with you on the Beatles . 😊😊😊😊 . You are a musician , what instrument do you play ? I liked the early part of the 1980s for music. Especially what was coming out of the UK. Bands such as Aztec Camera , Simple Minds , Heaven 17 , Bauhaus , The Associates, to name a few. I like She's a Rainbow from the Rolling Stones. I'm looking forward to seeing the movie A complete Unknown , it starts here in New Zealand this week. Yes Bob Dylan is certainly a mysterious man. Good video hearing you talk about your likes. From Carl.

I believe Flashlight is on their next album, but I have that one as well! Touch me and I can't explain are great songs! I play Guitar, Drums, Bass, and very little bit of a keyboard haha. Just wanted to add that I saw Dillon run through the same questions about favorite bands and favorite labels and the question regarding if you found a bag of weed. I’m with you on the favorite band question! My favorite label would be the RCA Victor label (1954-64). As far as the weed question, I don’t do that and I would probably throw it away! But the related album might be the Beatles “White Album”. Keep rockin’ on! Walter

Another great video, Sorin! You showed some awesome picks such as Pink Floyd and Fraction as well as July, even though I have never heard the latter two at any time in my 62 years! I do know they’re rare, though! I love pretty much all of music by The Doors, with the exception of “The End”; I find that track very disturbing! I never listen to it. Interesting to see your fave choices! The Doors are my fave band too. Have you listened to the post-Morrison albums? Patchy, but they do have a few decent songs on 'em. Can't go wrong with the Reprise label. The 'Prunes, West Coast Pop Art..., and Nancy Sinatra!! Mentioning Matt, did you see his latest upload? He's had some pretty bad health issues, but seems to be on the mend, fingers crossed.

Sorin - I love to see a young person “nerding out” just like I did at the same age - these are great years as you discover new bands, genres and eras. You will eventually become an old nerd like me and rediscover bands and listen to the gems you missed “back in the day” or even better didn’t like, but do now. Enjoy. If you don’t have “12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus” by Spirit - just get it. In fact I am going to listen to it now with my OG copy on the yellow Epic label.

"The World is a Ghetto" was a smash hit, all over Top 40 radio in late 1972-73 (the main way we used to hear music before we bought it). The album reached #1 on the Billboard album charts and by the end of 1973 had outsold Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book". (The music biz magazine "Cash Box" had it at #4 for the whole year, after "Dark Side," Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" and Seals & Croft's "Summer Breeze.") There was a shorter AM radio "single" edit of the title track, which was more than ten minutes long on the album -- and free-format FM stations even played the jazzy 13-minute-plus "City Country City." I envy you getting to discover this record now!

Hey man. New year, new finds. That Foxx lp is interesting for sure, it takes many spins to click. The Paupers other lp is better, in my opinion, but that one's opener is crazy good. They should of made it the last track. That Legend cover reminds me the two Orpheus lps, which look crazy psychedelic but doesn't measure up musically. Map City is a great label. Neon is solid find, Paramount is another great label. That Plus lp is another one that has to grow on you; the cover appears to have a dark, occult influence, but doesn't fully match the music. I have been looking for that Skid Row, can't land one. Kudos! Revolver is probably my favorite Beatles record as well. Great start to the new year. Peace.

A fine selection there to end off 2024 Sorin. That's a result on the Pretty Things. I can see that record and sleeve looks really clean. My sleeve annoyingly has some damp residue on the reverse although otherwise looks great but it does bug me. I agree that Tangerine Dream is better than Faintly Blowing but as I have an OG FB but not TD it still ticks the box for top UK psych classic in my world 🙂. I bet in the future you'll end up owning a OG for CA Quintet. The copies held in the hands of the older collectors will leave their collection, whether that's through funding their retirements or the more depressing final outcome! The question is will there be a market of younger collectors willing to pay 4 figures or will the majority of collectors in 2040 not care about such records and you'll be able to pay 3 figures for an OG. Result on the VU as well. Always been difficult to find in the UK sadly. Cheers Nige

Hi 👋 I remember the pop group the Box Tops , especially their hit song from 1967 Neon Rainbow. I like the lyrics of it and i would be preparing myself for school back then and the song would come on the kitchen radio. I would go off to school with the song buzzing around in my head. I had the pleasure of seeing Miles Davis in concert here in New Zealand back in the 1980s. He was in his sixties in age at the time. I was in my twenties, I'm in my mid sixties now.
