Sorin - I love to see a young person “nerding out” just like I did at the same age - these are great years as you discover new bands, genres and eras. You will eventually become an old nerd like me and rediscover bands and listen to the gems you missed “back in the day” or even better didn’t like, but do now. Enjoy. If you don’t have “12 Dreams of Dr Sardonicus” by Spirit - just get it. In fact I am going to listen to it now with my OG copy on the yellow Epic label.

Hi 👋 again. I was thinking back to the past and particularly the 1970s soul / funk and disco of the time. Three groups came to mind that i thought I'd mention to you. They are Average White Band , Ohio Players , and Heatwave. I like their music , and they are worth buying if you haven't already .

Hi 👋 nothing oddball about the group War. I like their music , especially the songs Summer from 1976 , and Low Rider from 1975. I was digging them in my teens in the 1970s.

I meant sort of oddball of the group that I would show haha. But yes 100% agree, fantastic songs, and great records. I need more! We played low rider as a stadium cheer at our high school football games! ✌☮

"The World is a Ghetto" was a smash hit, all over Top 40 radio in late 1972-73 (the main way we used to hear music before we bought it). The album reached #1 on the Billboard album charts and by the end of 1973 had outsold Pink Floyd's "Dark Side of the Moon" and Stevie Wonder's "Talking Book". (The music biz magazine "Cash Box" had it at #4 for the whole year, after "Dark Side," Led Zeppelin's "Houses of the Holy" and Seals & Croft's "Summer Breeze.") There was a shorter AM radio "single" edit of the title track, which was more than ten minutes long on the album -- and free-format FM stations even played the jazzy 13-minute-plus "City Country City." I envy you getting to discover this record now!

That Paupers record is fairly common here in Canada, however it’s always trashed for some reason. I still haven’t found a cheap clean copy. I picked up that Neon record a couple of years ago and I like it as well. I haven’t heard that Skid Row before (I’ll have to stream it) but your enthusiasm makes me interested in hearing it. Congrats on that Plus record. I’ve had that on my want list for many years now. Looks super clean too! Revolver is definitely my favourite Beatles record by far. Great pickups!!!

I see it pretty often here as well, although not at a price point I want to pay. Skid Row is great! Let me know what you think! The plus record has a weird long surface mark that doesn't affect the play at all, sounds fantastic! The middle period is definitely my favorite Beatles! Thanks for watching ✌☮

Holy smokes! That connection with your grandma and your mom's uncle to V.O.A. is amazing. And yes! Tomorrow Never Knows is the best. I have the Revolver box that was reissued a few years ago and they have demos and alternate takes. There is one version of Tomorrow that is my favorite alt-track I've ever heard.

It was super cool to learn about it after I had bought the records! I listened to the Revolver box set when it came out, but its been a while. I've got to go listen to all the different versions. Thanks for watching ✌☮

Yeah, Herman's Hermits!! Top draw U.K. psych!😵‍💫The Paupers album is very so-so. Did you get the insert with it? Legend went on to Vertigo Records, so folks go after 'em simply for that reason. War were cool!

Nice post, very cool with your family history with the Voice of America. I finally snagged one of my own Voice of America collection (affordable 😉) from Dillion on Whatnot (since I live in PA) A nice Soul album / band called The True Reflection. Noble Records is on my Road Trip hit list 🙂

Great finds again! The Paupers Ellis is super inconsistent but has some great tracks 🔥Never heard of Fargo record Picked up a copy of the Blue Jays record but didn’t click with me Cool family connection to VOA! Watched some of Nobles VOA auctions but man were people over paying $$$ Apparently there’s a bunch of those records in Virginia thrift stores 😂 Probably the lower value stuff. Skid Row with Gary Moore ? He rips! Cool Revolver copy wonder how many times I’ve listened to that album? Take care Brian ☮️

Agree on The Paupers! The Blue Jays one is decent, definitely need to listen some more. I can imagine people were dropping some cash on those, I've never been on a whatnot auction, I feel like I'd never win haha. I've probably listened to Revolver thousands of times. Thanks for watching ✌☮

Hey man. New year, new finds. That Foxx lp is interesting for sure, it takes many spins to click. The Paupers other lp is better, in my opinion, but that one's opener is crazy good. They should of made it the last track. That Legend cover reminds me the two Orpheus lps, which look crazy psychedelic but doesn't measure up musically. Map City is a great label. Neon is solid find, Paramount is another great label. That Plus lp is another one that has to grow on you; the cover appears to have a dark, occult influence, but doesn't fully match the music. I have been looking for that Skid Row, can't land one. Kudos! Revolver is probably my favorite Beatles record as well. Great start to the new year. Peace.
