Actually harldan with 25% xp and 10% xp draught got 10 to 70 in less than 3 hrs by questing, altho he also has full heirlooms and lots of consumables, but riding ur dragon isn't necessarily faster and ofc theres the gear question when u get to 70.

@@kerkertrandov459 and harldan is a speed runner which means he has picked apart every little thing to reach that number. To reach that number we have to know the routes, the class, and all steps inside and out. It's possible but most don't have that in depth knowldge until 20+ chars. It's a good route but I recently tried it and there is a lot of competition for kills so it's heavily camped slowing things down. We can still do it, I tried it expecting me to take 9-12 hours which I am ok with, char is currently parked in garrison building rest xp and I am running 2-3 times his pace which I expected for a first run. I am not a speed runner and I have no drive to hit his level of experience and I am fine with that.

I just did this. Uldum was HUGE. keep in mind that it's also a double zone. If you talk to the bronze dragon, it resets to the older, unexplored zone. I also used darkmoon fair buff.

Yeah but if N'zoth is active at the time you do it, you are going to get shot out of the sky by those void worms. That they added to those zones to prevent flying as much.

just did this on my own earthen character without any preparation whatsoever and got from lvl 10 to 70 in 5:15 hours. felt really quick when having some netflix on a second monitor. changed up the route a little bit (for the worse, i feel like). great video!

Not for the challenge part, but you can exit immediately with a few different methods/toys. I'd personally recommend Critter Hand Cannon > Fractured Necrolyte Skull gets you to Outland Shadowmoon Valley instantly. My initial thoughts are to go Monk. Get some quick exploration XP to lvl 11, use Zen Pilgrimage. Ta da Pandaria! But turn around, go into a portal, you're in your city, choose a chromie time just to be sure, and from there follow this guide, mostly, I'd recommend. TBC and WotLK really do have a lot of exploration points that reward XP but aren't *on the map*. Monk has the added benefit of free rested XP if you don't care about challenge, and bonus routes via Pandaria.

Follow up... just hit 70 on my Earthen, and this was super fun. Even if there are other faster ways of levelling, none of them can be done as passively as this. I did most of this during lunch breaks and long conf calls where I was just listening, and it's a low friction way to get the levelling done. I've always enjoyed the Candy Buckets XP run for the same reason, but this was great. They are missing a HUGE opportunity to LEAN INTO this world tour option. Thanks Again!

This was awesome, thanks for putting this together; I had a great time doing this! I casually did this over 2 days (half paying attention, half not) and did it around 8 hours played with no real focus. I didn't do it for the challenge, but more of an alternate leveling path since retail leveling is "wonky" to me (prefer the classic leveling journey). Two things that I noticed were: 1) Some zones don't allow you to fly high, you must fly low to get credit (ex: EPL, South Barrens, & Gorgrond). 2) Sometimes crossing zone boundaries, you don't get credit for discovery in the first few seconds or so (might contribute to server lag as stated in the video). Otherwise, this was awesome and will probably do it again on a new Earthen.

Made an earthen for the heritage set since I have all the others already got to level 25 and got bored, so just started flying around like this to see how much xp I would get, ended up leveling super quick so I leveled all the way up to 70 (because I couldnt go to Dornogal for my heritage set at 50. Works quite well, tried it on my end, had a newly created earthen who was already in Kul Tiras - did a short tour of that and then went to Northrend, Eastern Kingdoms and ended in Silithus with lvl 70 and ready to jump into War Within. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! I created a new Earthen and used a level 60 boost that I've had for I can't remember how long. And then it hit me: the only place I could go and level, would be Dragonflight. AGAIN... Don't get me wrong, I actually loved the expansion, but by now I know pretty much all the quests and instances by heart and I really didn't feel like doing it all over again. So your suggestion came like a godsend. It did have a few odd hickups for me though: a humongous section of the map was already filled out for me, such as all of Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor and Outlands, and oddly a part of Taldrassus as well. Chromie time seemed to make no difference on any of the areas, all I got was peanuts XP. The only thing that worked for me was taking the portal to Boralus and zigzag over Kul'Tiras (gained 4 levels just from that), then to Valdrakken. There I got zero XP for anything I 'discovered' in Taldrassus (it did say on my screen that I had discovered an area, but no XP was given), but 1 got a full level in Waking Shores, Oh'naran Plains and the Southern blue zone whose name I can never remember. So that got me almost at 68. Then I got about 1/3 of a level in Forbidden Reach, where I did fly over new areas, but no XP was added. I ended up doing the last 1.5 levels purely on mining and the odd raft/climb/fly through/collect/kill weeklies. Took me a bit more than half an hour, but I'll take anything over question in DF for the umptieth time! So thank you!

No exp bonuses affect exploration exp (other than earthen racial) sadly. This can be done as soon as you unlock earthen ^.^

There's a slight oversight with follower dungeons right now, where the some of the dragonflight dungeons drop you on skull level mobs. Meaning you get maximum exp per mob, all of them die eventually, because your boys scale differently. but they drop no loot, and basically oneshot you if you're not careful. And definitely not as fast as this. This method though- golden. AND it doesn't require other people.

so just to point this out, though it'd probably slow progress.. you can get to pandaria without using the mage tower portal as long as you can get to draenor. you can use the blue campfire on the small pillar island off the north east coast of gorgrond. sit in chair, click campfire, teleport to timeless isle. though since you cant fly in the timeless isle and you'd be under water and dismounted, it would probably kill momentum to have to swim out and up to the surface where you'd ground mount or swim to the flight path and take said flight path to the nearest one in jade forest you have access to. but you *can* do it if you wanted to. lol

Thanks for doin' all the heavy liftin' on this. Recently back into the game and tried this out today as a break from grinding ilvl. Very pleasant, but I was much slower due to me makin' some silly mistakes as well as several deaths from flying too close to things I shouldn't. At the point of posting this I'm lvl 60 at around 5.5 hours of just listening to music and watching movies. I can easily shave off an 1.5-2hrs just by better movement. Prob never gunna hit sub 3.5 hrs though XD. Calmest leveling experience ever.

Great idea! Wintergrasp was PVP so I skipped it and/or I missed some other areas because I was only 22.5 after finishing Twilight Highlands. Luckily, I'm playing a mage so I bought all the portals and was able to go to Boralus without the quests to fill in a couple levels. (They do cost though so you'll need to send a couple hundred gold from another toon if you want to do it that way).

Yeah it takes some practice. The exploration exp is based off key areas. My hest advice is to look at your mimimap, when the name of the area changes do some circles until you get a discovery.

brilliant! A few lessons. 1. This still works beyond 70, just don't go into the war within. I was getting 2900 XP for areas in ungoro, southern barens 2. let go of your OCD, if u cant hit a area and your back and forth, move on. 3. Fly low. you are almost always more likely to get the discovery the lower you are. 4. Outland will only give you ~9 levels. make sure you wait till 61-62 5. don't rely on the standard map and revealing 'the fog of war'. there are hundreds of extra area's inside this. get an addon!! 6. when it comes to the achievements, they are account wide. You might already have it from a different toon, so you wont get the ding again when u complete a zone. see point 1. (you can get the achievement ding as soon as you enter a zone because you did all the rest on a different toon)

Well thanks for pointing this out. I very roughly followed your guidelines and indeed this works very well. It's boring, but it's fast! I'm really slow and I mucked up many times trying to find my way to certain zones. I also made breakfast, did multiple loads of clothes washing and still got to 70 in about 8 hours. I reckon I wasted 3 hours with all of the above so somewhere between 5-6 hours of actual exploration time. Happy with that. Good luck all!! *Update* Levelled another one in 5-6 hours so that's about my limit but still happy. Got 2 new 70's I wouldn't have had if I didn't come across this

Not sure if this is consistent for everyone, but I noticed a seemingly random delay of up to 5 seconds before an area will get discovered while skyriding, whereas in steady flight areas would always get discovered within a second. Steady flight moves a lot slower, but it was actually significantly faster to use in locations with a lot of discovery points close together, like Suramar City.

How beneficial are the treasures in Gorgrond? That used to be a hotspot for leveling chunks. Also, Why Hunter? Could another class be more beneficial? Maybe mage for teleporting and shaving off minutes? Or is the flying around allowing time enough for the hearthstone to always be ready?

The biggest reason i chose hunter was for consistency. Like i said originally this was a follow up video that turned into a speed run lol. But yeah mage is probably the best. Maybe paladin if crusader aura works on skyriding. As for Gorgrond I have no idea. The only chests i have used before were the BFA chests. Which are pretty good. Might speed things up a bit if you are going for pure speed. ^.^ As for Explorathon... i like that. I'll add it to the list of options!

You can keep going until 71 in the Timewalking areas, and they still give you the same amount of XP per exploration. 70-71 seems like a bit more XP jump, so it does take a bit longer (maybe 40% more time) than 69-70, but it's still pretty quick and easy. You can even keep going for about a minute into 71 until Chromie kicks you out of the timestream.

I saw the previous video which is probably the reason why I thought to "level" by exploring while queuing dungeons on Earthen. I didn't realize the passive, just found it surprising how much xp I was getting from exploring. I didn't do it too much, but in one 5m queue noticed getting a level from exploring towards the end I thought this is pretty sick. In the end I was thrown into bad 15m dungeon and just quit it, knowing I could get the last level to 70 faster by exploring! Pretty crazy passive, might see how far I get by just exploring full TWW too.

For shadowlands you can grab engineering and use wormhole to skip around. going there at all before level 60 prevents you from using fate skip later though :(

Rogue is the 1 class where ure handicapping yourself hard by not being a night elf, at least if ure serious about pvp or m+/raiding. The free extra vanish on 2 min cd is way too OP, it lets u enter stealth.

The next fastest leveling will be timewalking but they have weird restrictions now so you'll wanna check the in game calendar to see what the level limits are. I'll be using that for the 70-80 jaunt for all the alts I prepped with the prelaunch event. Iirc the highest level limit for em is 30 now? But that's legit just a guess.

Just levelled an Earthen Pally in starting gear to 70 using this method. I took a different route and found that Pandaria was a good finishing zone with Bulk xp. Took me just under 4 hours but I had a break and just chilled. Thanks for the vid.

Your mileage might vary, but I found Twilight Highlands to be very valuable. Subzones don't always award EXP, but almost everything you explore gives EXP and there are some very dense clusters of subzones. The Dunwald Ruins in the south have several locations that all count for full exploration EXP.

If you choose Dragonflight timewalking, that black scale item you get teleports you to your capital pretty quickly. Just abandon the quest when you're in the capital and it'll auto give it to again allowing you essentially have a quick teleport back when you want to switch zones

Currently doing this, level 28 while writing at a total /played of exactly 2 hours and 30 minutes. Some things that I have observed: First, I only have one toon (my main) at level 80, so I have a 5% exp boost to all alts. That being said, I've scoured every square inch of the zones listed in the 10-20 section, as well as all of Mount Hyjal and I'm struggling to keep up level-wise. I've had to explore several surrounding zones, and took the long flight to Uldum from Orgrimmar to try to get a little more of a boost. From what I've seen, the amount of exp I'm getting doing this honestly isn't bad. Second, I had to switch to steady flight after level 20 because flying through zones too fast just wasn't counting with the game as being explored. Even then I find myself needing to stop whenever I see the "Discovered: X" text and wait for it to register (especially with small buildings and areas). Yes, 320% flying speed is a drag and will slow things down, but otherwise the constant backtracking would end up doing the same. It does make it a little more AFK though, which is nice. Third, I couldn't skip any of the starter zone quests. The doors just wouldn't open or let me open them. Not a problem for me as I'm not following the same rules as you, but this might have changed since your video was made... TL;DR: This method is working great, albeit a bit slower for me (and maybe you too if you try it). If you aren't trying to speedrun the levelling process and just want to level-up an alt really quickly, definitely worth your time! And don't be afraid to stray a little from the path for some bonus exp here and there if you need to. EDIT: Completed the challenge with a total /played of 7 hours and 14 minutes, a little over 7 minutes per level on average (I got a little distracted at points). Fastest level was 50-51, 1 minute and 45 seconds exactly. I feel like if I did this a second time (which I might, as I have a feeling it may not be viable for too long...) I could easily shave an hour off, perhaps even more.

Fastest I ever leveled was 1 - 70 in 6½ hours. Did that in this last event. 1-30 sucked, the memories event was not designed for a lvl 10 but you could do it. However, once I hit 30, I was doing a level every 6½ minutes, at 40 it was about every 4 minutes, then at 50... 3½ minutes, and once I hit 60, I was doing a level every 90 seconds.

@@Taima you can do this on any race. Earthen get 200% bonus exploration XP. So it goes much easier with them.

One thing i found is when a new area flashes on screen, i tilt up til that registers as discovered then continue on. I was missing some areas early on because i was just flyijng straight and narrow watching the map. Knowing the questlines helped too, since i could follow the course i remembered from questing each xpac and get to areas that had alot of discoveries in a compact bunch.

I managed to do it in 2 hours 29 min, abusing toys for travel and skipping introductions with a bit of death abuse for GY using addons to know spawn points. Though trying to go beyond, I only got 72 with Dragonflight and The War Within exploration. Now I'm just waiting for non-combat world quests with gear rewards so I can actually do something at this point lol, all entirely without interacting with NPCs.

There are ways around the intro scenarios. If you have leveled a character prior to this one and made them learn engineering and unlock the wormholes - you can teleport into the shadowlands, Pandaria or places in bfa and fly around the zones for XP. I have done it many times to get into the zones and skip intro scenarios. Some wormholes only require engineering 1 so all you’d have to do is make them learn engineering 1 to use the toys and boom! Can be in Shadowlands zones. And you can skip the maw intro scenario and get right into oribos! And I’m sure it’s faster if you compound mage on top of that. With the teleports. Hope this helps with your leveling time strats! Might be fun to play around with. :)

I went at a much leisurely pace getting an Earthen to 70. All told, it took me a total of 10 hours 11 minutes 51 seconds. And that's with being afk a handful of times. I hope they don't nerf Wide-Eyed Wonder. I love it as it is.

I did something similar back in Vanilla/TBC, i jumped under SW and then jump in to a open pixel underneath, then "fall" down till u hit a river on the map or a sea. got lvl 10 in a few mins. that was fkn awesome sht back then!

I tried following this route, the issue I encountered was in the 20-30 range. I was Horde and thus did Mt. Hyjal and Uldum but after clearing all the subzones I was only 26. It left me 4 levels short. The only thing I didn't do in your route in WotLK was WG. I had to go back to WotLK for 26-30.

You wanted to be 25-26 at the end of hyjal and uldum! Its not bad to be higher but you were right on track without the extra stuff ^.^ When i mentioned the levels of draenor zones that was the zone level not the level *you* should be at. I probably could have worded it better. 😅

I have 1 max level character. Meaning I dont have the extra exp achievement. My route was similar but instead I'd do the entirety of east azeroth till i reach 41~ and I needed a little more to reach 70 so I did a 2 dungeons. Char 1: 5h26m Char 2: 4h51m - No dungeons this time, learned that discovering places is kinda laggy at times. Couple of circles might be neccesary.
