As someone who lives on Balmung, I will point out that more experienced RPers are adept at identifying other experienced RPers, and I'm assuming you didn't put anything in your search info, so you'd only get whispers from... well, probably either the desperate, the inexperienced, or the creepy... or just people giving out sincere compliments to passersby. Some people will also just shotgun the same whispers to everyone until they get a bite, so it's kind of RNG of when you run into those people (like the guy who sent the moon code).

I think for accurate results you'd need a wider set of sample sizes, doing this with a few more character templates a few more times over a span of days to eliminate the odd outlier. It's still an interesting study, though.

@@triplebub there are a lot of uncreative players race design wise. Lala's are just cute head pats are a must. Thighlander get that same type of bias without trying. Viera takes a little effort in design, but ppl will be all over you in no time the base race gear is probably the sexiest next to Thighlander Hempen gear. Cats rely on energy to stand out from there on its a spiral. Femroe are rare, so it's a race to get one before they are taken. Midlander have to try to look like Thighlanders is the best bet. Elezen are like Roe, but players have types so you will get sniped more so than widespread attention.

Are you kidding me cat girls literally have so many facial variations from pupils, teeth, facial markings, eyebrows, tails, earrings etc. I see alot of unique kitty girls when people properly customize. Dragon girls on the other hand are all tiniest setting and are usually 1 of 2 faces.

Then alot of the games customization to make things easier are locked behind quests like dye and hairstyles. Even if you are experienced starting from scratch without the luxuries of customization can be difficult.

I switched to FemRoe after finishing 6.0. I did an NG+ run through ShB and EW for a friend of mine, and I originally was going to go Thighlander when I fanta'd. On a whim, I looked through the FemRoes, and landed on a Hellsguard that I just fell in love with. Haven't looked back since!

As an female Au Ra I honestly find myself being left alone a lot. That being said I’m not going to Balmung Quicksands so that could have something to do with it. Even so I very rarely get spoken to. I’m not surprised we are second place tho…I’ve heard…stories….

Female Au Ra are also the easiest races to have a lot of gender differentiation. There's a lot of femboy "Female" Au Ras. It's much harder to make femboys on other races. Male Viera is also the only male race I have thought were female at first, then at closer look, they're male. So if your Au Ra looks like a boy, that may be why you're left alone...

I played midlander for a while, and I think the reason why they're not that popular is the simplest, there's nothing striking about them, no matter how few of them there are. I also didn't get any attention or tells as bun girl- the race that got me the most interactions (only headpats and compliments, nothing creepy) is lalafell hahaha

Well middies are the box standard human race of other games so while they're not necessarily the "default" option (I'd give that to catgirls in FF14), they probably catch some strays because of that. Thighlanders at least counteract that by looking like they could crush watermelons even without mods.

I made a temporary highlander alt before changing my femroe (permanent alt) to another race because i was sick of the height issues when doing player housing. This was a test run. I was doing the first few quests and i had a player eyeball me in central shroud and send me panting and gasping noises like they were suffering from high temperatures.

i remember going to the QS late night (NA Eastern Standard Time). We were trying to get our bun boi friend a date. The group of us were a mix of miqote, highlander, au ra, and myself a midlander. I happened to be the first to get properly hit on in under 5 minutes. There are a lot of people who will give nice short conversation praising looks and glamour. Although, proper "ahem" hits could be a different story.

The Quicksand on Balmung specifically is a particular hotspot for people looking for certain types of rp, because like a certain inn in another game on a specific server, it is real close to a starting point for new characters, additionally, it is the most open of the taverns in the starting cities, giving ample space for people to spread out into little clusters. Balmung is also the main legacy server on what is commonly known as the rp data center, Crystal. So for those reasons, it probably originally was a bit of an RP hotspot in the early days, when it became a hotspot for certain types of rp, i have no idea. But it is now infamous for it to the point that people from every NA dc comes and visits to either rp there or just take a look at the degeneracy going on.

If you're in Ul'Dah the vendor is on the path on the way to the elevator for the airship port also if you're in Balmung I'm not sure you can count it as a fair test because Balmung is the red light district of FF XIV xD

For me it's definitely Miqo'te = Hrothgar > Viera > Au Ra > the rest when it comes to the ladies. N-not that I personally RP or anything! That's just what I've played as or the races of my retainers! And yeah, I'm curious to see how the male races fare for tells, especially with all the "upheavals" as some RPers I know put it when it came to seeking out their type. (Viera impacted the soft boy Miqo'te population, Hrothgar did a number on Roegadyn when it came to bears.)

years ago on my miqo i went to balmung quicksands because i was telling a friend about it and he didnt believe me. we were there for maybe 10 minutes and i got like 4 separate tells asking for erp. ...actually i got multiple tells on my home server for the first few years and would still have screenshots of some of the creepier ones had my HDD not died last year. rip i switched to hrothgal in DT and have gotten tells about my outfits multiple times, but nothing creepy like when i first started playing ff14 on miqo. but i also dont really go looking for rp or anything (honestly never have).

I'm kind of scared of balmung Uldah -- been there three times on my Duskwight elezen , Xaela au ra, and Veena VIera boys for things like hunt trains, and each time got propositioned before i could teleport out of the aetheryte plaza and offered a job at a brothel for two of them. Being aroace I tend to lean toward male characters to avoid horny attention from strangers. But because of that, I'm kind of interested in what the results are for male characters.
