Wow Laura, this video is exactly what I needed! Your minimalist approach to vlogging gear is so inspiring, especially for someone like me who's just starting out. I love how you break down your choices and explain the "why" behind each piece of equipment. The Sony A7C II sounds amazing - that stabilization must be a game-changer for your vlogs! Those VRU lenses are definitely going on my wishlist. It's great to know there are affordable options that still deliver quality. And thanks for the tip about the Nisi mist filter - I've always wondered how you get that dreamy, cinematic look in your videos! Can't wait to see your upcoming video on camera bags. As someone who also wants to travel light but carry all the essentials, I'm sure it'll be super helpful. Keep up the fantastic content, Laura! Your passion for photography and vlogging really shines through. Greetings from USA! 🌟📸

When you mentioned being safe as a woman, it brought me to a memory of 11 years ago here in Canada. I was in the Canadian Rockies on a “photo” walk near Maligne lake. There were a few other people/couples around. I passed this lady doing what I assumed was the same as I, but when we passed she had an odd look on her face. I stopped and stepped to the side of the trail. Sure enough two young men came along going the woman’s direction at a brisk walk. For some reason it seemed odd so I followed. When I rounded a bend she was sitting on a rest bench and those two fellows were standing nearly over her and she was clearly not comfortable. I just walked up and said hey honey, there you are. Stood between her and the guys and asked her who her friends were. They immediately booked it. I stepped back to give her space and asked if she was ok, she said no and was nervous. I said if she would like a walking partner back to the parking lot I would be happy to join her and to make her more comfortable I would walk ahead of her a few paces until we arrived. She agreed. When we got there she thanked me and scooted to her car and drove away. No one, female or male, should have to feel unsafe. It’s sad.

Loving your adventures in Bali. Get the DJI Mini 4 Pro. I recently upgraded from the Mini 2. The camera is a big improvement over the Mini 2 which was really good. You will love it. I appreciate the crash avoidance sensors and living in the US, it has built in remote ID which is required.

Thank you! I'm so glad to know that you enjoy my solo adventures. 🥰 I can't wait to get the DJI Mini 4 Pro! So happy to find out that you're happy with it. I also want that obstacle avoidance, it helps so much! Mostly with the drone anxiety I get every time I fly. 😄

I now us the A7CR for all my work which is a mini A7R5. Such an under rated camera. I sold all my Canon gear including an R5 and have never looked back. There are a couple of items i would like improved, but nothing i cant work around. Photographed street, landscape, motorsport and astro. Pair it with sony GM and G lenses and it is a winning combination.

Similar bag of tricks as yours, but I chose the Sony ZV-E1 as my second camera with a Sony 20mm f1.8 G lens for playful picks. Includes S-Cinetone, Slog 3 up to 4K120. Hope that is geeky enough for you. Happy with the results so far cause I can set up in GM lens as required. Camera chip aligns with FX3/ FX6 and Sony A7R5.

That’s a lovely accent you got there… New Jersey? Jokes aside, I used to crave big stuff; big hi-fi system, big computers and big cameras. The latter years, I just want smaller stuff that can do almost the same. Going from Canon 1Ds to Sony Alpha-900 to a Nikon D600, but want a small Sony camera.

Hi Laura! Great video as usual, I'm curious as to why you went with the A7C2 instead of the A7CR considering that the A7CR would have the same sensor as the A7R5?
@Cthames123Ай бұрын
It makes sense to me. First, there is a price difference with the A7CR being $500 usd more expensive. Another compelling reason could be variation. With her new 33MP A7C ii she’ll have a camera with a sensor that does return a “distinctive look”. She already has a 61MP A7RV, and if she keeps the 24MP A7C, it’ll be 3 cameras that return slightly different looks. The A7CR has the exact same sensor as the A7RV, and in many regards may feel the same as something she already has. Another idea is how she plans to use it-vlogging. The A7cii has the better stabilization over the A7C, which is what she was after in the first place. I think $2200 for a A7Cii is way over kill for vlogging but perhaps the A7CR is way out of bounds ridiculous.
@luciadiane6682Ай бұрын
Great video and always so generous with information how to get a better image. 😌 Your drone shots are fantastic. How did you learn to fly it? Did u teach yourself or did u take a course? Also, is getting certification to fly a drone required? I think I will have drone anxiety too, they are not cheap and losing it, would be funny and disappointing at the same time. 😢😂 I recently retired and I’m thinking of moving to Portugal next year and I want to learn to be proficient to fly a drone by then. Thank u for being so open. 😊

@Cthames123Ай бұрын
Thanks for the video! These things don’t just make themselves. I’m not a professional, (I just like to shoot). I was looking at the 20mm, f2.8, from Tamron for the attractive price, great focal length for vlogging, and it has a really good minimum focus distance for taking close up near macro shots. At the price I guess no one should expect a masterpiece but I was put off by the crazy barrel distortion I saw in some of the reviews, and while it is compact, not teeny tiny. I was thinking about another smaller sized 20mm , f2.8 from Viltrox. Samyang/Rokonon also has a 20mm f2.8 with minimum barrel distortion. Did you by any chance consider these lenses?
@firpofutbolАй бұрын
Instead of two separate Viltrox lenses (20mm and 40mm), why not just get a Tamron 20-40mm f2.8? Still a very lightweight lens. Also the Insta360 X4 is wayyyyy better than the X3, you should upgrade it.

It seems like a TON of overkill for Vlogging. Have to checked out the DJI Osmo Pocket 3? I am a Sony Shooter as well and while the P3 shoots M-Log vs S-Log it does almost everything my Sony's do and its so much easier to travel with.
@Cthames123Ай бұрын
I’m with you on purchasing a $2200 camera if it’s just to vlog with. The pocket 3 gives rock solid stabilization, more compact easy handling, and has a 1in sensor returning great low light & dynamic range, and at $500 just to vlog, its way less than an A7Cii. The argument for the A7Cii; however; is very strong if you want to vlog and take photos. Also it fits in with the breadth of lens options and utilization of ones existing investment.

and this video in the guest room is shot with which Sony? 7R V? and with which lenses? I ask because you show it in front of the screen, so it's probably different equipment :D

The whole video was shot with the Sony A7CII, I mentioned it at the beginning of the video. 🥰 And the lens I used is the Sony 24-70mm f2.8 GMII The only thing recorded with the Sony A7RV was the footage of the SonyA7CII to show how it looks with the small lens on. 😊

I really like your channel and content. Sony A7Cii actually has more of a crop in 4k60 (1.5) then the A7C (1.2). Personally as a Sony content creator I see no reason to upgrade to full frame until hybrid cameras have 4K 60 with no crop but for professional photographers and videographers in this niche I see how they might want to. Always really enjoy the framing and look of your videos id love to see a video about your camera angles and shot list and framing. Everyone talks about cameras.
@Jen-ur4utАй бұрын
Everyone talks about cameras because (for better or worse) they're the most watched photography video$$.
@LauraBCАй бұрын
Thank you so much! 😍 The Sony A7C doesn't record 4K in 60fps, just in 1080p. Reason why it has less of a crop than the Sony A7CII that it records in 4K. I personally prefer to record 4K with a crop than in 1080 without a crop. But everyone is different. I choose full frame any day. There is a huge difference in ISO sensitivity. You can work in very low light conditions and still get incredible quality with full frame. But again, everyone has their own preferences. 🥰 Thank you for sharing yours with everyone. :) And thanks so much! I'm glad you enjoy the framing of my videos! I actually have over 190 videos on my channel and less than a dozen talk about gear. 😄 Many of them talk about framing, composition, lighting, how to record yourself etc. You can browse through all those videos here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/foHHp3V3e7t7frc

I don't think you're following my channel for long... 😅 I have over 190 videos on my channel and less than a dozen talk about gear. 😄 Plus if they're the most watched, it's because it does help to have opinions on gear from professional photographers. Everyone goes to KZbin to watch reviews. Me included when I want to buy something new, and they help immensely. 😍
@Cthames123Ай бұрын
I have the A7C and love it except I to wish it had better video stabilization. The free option which I learned to use that saved me the cost of buying a brand new camera is to use Catalyst Browse to stabilize handheld video footage in post. This beats spending all this money on the newest camera to get better, still not perfect, video stabilization in camera. If getting this for low shutter speed photography yes full speed ahead, but Even A7RV handheld video footage, (which has really good in camera stabilization), could still benefit from a run through catalyst browse. If you end up using catalyst browse anyway, doesn’t that undercut the reasons to buy a camera for the better video stabilization?

Awesome setup, that A7C is a tiny beast and that 20mm f/2.8 lens is so affordable! No matter how good iPhone camera software gets with its tiny sensor.... nothing beats the look of full frame with heaps of dynamic range.
