Reminds me of a company I used to work for. When I first started, it felt like a family. By the time I left it was a tense nose to the grindstone atmosphere. I found the environment hard to work in. There was a lot of turnover.

Yeah being required to expel effort to earn a paycheck is really tyrannical.

I worked in a big team in a big corporation. I am a young Gen X. Boomers were laid off. Cheaper Millennials showed up. Amazing how fast the culture changed within 4-5 years. Less formal conference room meetings and more virtual meetings all from our cubicles. My pension went away, but I now get paternal time off benefits (At age 40...LOL!).

This is so powerful! very well put. We believe his saying came from Lou Holt... We didn't bring you here to be like you. We brought you here to be like us. This is part of our onboarding presentation

On the list of people that other people can't stand is door-to-door solar salesmen.

Hang on is this guy selling Solar panels at high interest rates to starry eyed homeowners? The same stuff Dave rants about.

Probably. There's probably the occasional customer that buys with cash.

Dave is just trying to help this guy with his leadership. He won't talk to people who invest in gold, payday loaners or whole life salesmen.

I think dave should talk this in western countries leaders too who face immigrants who want to change the country cultures and rules..

It's distressing to think employers feel it is their place to be in charge of thinking and feeling, not just work behavior. You can't work at this job unless you laugh with the boss and drink from a glass with a propaganda message on it. . . what a world. Of course, it's also the case that we have a company here that really creates almost nothing, so that's modern America, too. I guess you have to force your employees to go to pep rallies when they don't feel they are doing productive, useful, or creative actual work. Busywork jobs need to have distractions.
