Similar to what I try to convey at the end, something I've found interesting during this pandemic is how major cities (some with extremely high crime rates) have ceased arrests for non-violent crimes, and despite that, there hasn't been mass chaos or anarchy as some feared. And just to be reiterate, my commentary at the end is not about police officers, it's about the system

Out of state warrant. I am not a cop or criminal so I don't know how that works but it sounds like she was wanted in another state. I don't know if it's within their jurisdiction to arrest her unless they arrested her with the intent to then transfer her to wherever she was supposed to go. That being said, read the description as well -- due to the pandemic many major cities have stopped arresting people for non-violent crimes, which would define both of the "offenses" they committed.
@acedamace3501
@acedamace3501 3 жыл бұрын
@@voteZDLR warrents are valid no matter the state, they will transport you to the state of question. If the officer had heard her and decided to pull her up than she's getting arrested, and this guy since she told him and he said nothing could possibly be aiding and abetting. So ya, probably a db idea to post this
@voteZDLR
@voteZDLR 3 жыл бұрын
@@acedamace3501 Well I just looked it up and according to this article it says that extradition is expensive and states usually don't extradite for MINOR offenses, and it does sound like a minor offense. I really doubt they're going to criminally charge this guy with harboring a fugitive or something, again, the charges for her aren't that serious to begin with. I think if she said that she was wanted for murder or something more serious then he might have in that case quietly turned her in but as is she's in trouble for missing a court date because she was in a car accident which resulted in her being hospitalized. It will be an excused absence once she gets a chance to explain it. But in this case it's just such a minor offense committed on both of their parts I just seriously doubt they're going to Ted Bundy-style extradite over a missed court hearing.

I actually talked to a police officer about this... He explained to me that when an accident happens but the person has to go to the hospital, there's obviously still things that need to be addressed (insurance, what happens to the car, if there were other people involved, etc) ... so basically the ticket is so the person appears and sorts those things out (and depending on the situation, usually (hopefully) the judge would be lenient)

Legally, they shouldn’t be able to do that. If she had stayed, she could have died. There are so many things that could have gone wrong if she had stayed. If there is a law that prevents bystanders from being sewed if they try to help in a bad situation (I.e. wreck), there should be a law to prevent people from being given a ticket if they are medically required to be taken to the hospital. Hell, she had a head injury. You can’t use the information given by them since they are no longer in their correct frame of mind. They may not know who or what is going on at that moment. Any sympathy I did have for her being falsely ticketed has been erased by her not taking care of her shite in a timely manner. I’m wondering how that whole accident scene played out anyway. If she had a traumatic brain injury, how did she get to the hospital? Only thing I can think of was that it was a single car accident and she called someone to come get her. But, it’s surprising she was able to make a call with such a serious injury. Sounds like she should have called 911 if she made any calls.

Useful tip: if a police officer asks you if you know why you were pulled over, never try to guess. Perhaps not as relevant when dealing with a tail light issue, but if you're caught speeding, it makes it easier for them to write you a speeding ticket if you say, "Yeah, I was speeding."

A cop wouldn't have anyway to know who the passenger is pre-stop. Wouldn't need to know who the passenger is, either. Passengers don't need or have to provide ID during a traffic stop for moving violation. & on top of that, I've had a taxi I was riding in pulled over. I did not, nor was asked, about providing ID or license number(I had just got released from a psych ward for a TDO; I don't fully remember if I even had the physical license on me, off top of my head, if I had been asked for it, I likely would've refused & showed my psych release papers instead, it is Virginia, not a stop & frisk state).

He doesn’t have to ask for her id, what could have happened is that he asks her a few questions (age, name, birthday, and such), she messes up on one, he goes, “hey, your birthday and age don’t match, why did you lie to me?”, and he brings her in. You occasionally hear of people with warrants lying badly on simple questions and they end up getting busted.

@@is2fiddy3 well, here is the thing, not answering simple questions is considered suspicious for some police. You see, here is the thing about experienced police, they know how to work around the limits. Yeah, police aren’t supposed to search your car without a warrant, but, what is that I smell, is that weed? Well, guess I can keep you here and search your car now. You see, all of those laws that protect your rights have *s on them that let the police do what they deem necessary. Those are in place so that way police can arrest people trying to hide behind the law. However, those exceptions can be used by police to work around pesky things like warrants and limits on their power. Anyway, I think you get the idea, it is a lose-lose for her. If she doesn’t answer the questions properly, she will be suspicious and then the police officer looks on further and brings her in.

Wow ur blind. These few cases where they have found something more are the very very small percentage of the stops made. These stops are dangerous to the one being stopped and are more often than not just a way fir the cops to meet a quota. I've been a victim of police overreaching and setting individuals up for minor bullshit all because they were not able to find anything and they were denied thier requests to search the vehicle. Its funny how they then make anything they can to be able to get a way to search the vehicle. Being i usually carry a knife on me and have a bat or pipe under the seat of my truck for protection (I'm not a gun person but I do go into some places that are not always the safest so I like to have something incase and hope that it will help). The few times that the police have found a barely legit reason to force a search it ends up badly as I suddenly get accused of carrying a concealed weapon and that means that any tools that I have like axes Hatchett utility knifes razor blades bats pipes rebar ect that they can claim are weapons are suddenly the most dangerous things on earth and being I have sever back issues with 3 discs removed I can't pass several of the sobriety test as I have issues walking let alone all the rest of the bullshit and its likely that I have a handful of pain meds in the truck and not wanting to carry several different bottles for each of them and have my medical card for pot so it goes to me suddenly being a junkie drug user or dealer and now because of that the knife and another so called weapons are now a major up to life in prison multiple felony charges. Because of the way the laws are written they are now able to not only impound my truck but are allowed to use asset forfeiture rules that allow them to take any money I have on me my truck and everything I have in it my AND anything like my phone ect thats in my possession at the time. Being that asset forfeiture is not part or the criminal process and is civil it requires a different lawyer to represent you for that matter and being its civil if you are not able to afford a lawyer there is nothing that you can do as your not going to be able to have a court appointed lawyer as you do with criminal proceedings. So now this bullshit headlight out has cost me either thousands of dollars or I've likely lost alot of my stuff and anything that I was able to get back from them without a lawyer still going to require any impound towing and storage costs to be paid and whatever else they are not going to give me back if they don't keep everything and I lose it all. This happens regardless of if I am convicted or found not guilty of any crime. Infact this all happens before anything more than arraignment has been able to occur. They have 14 days in most states to have the hearing regarding forfeiture of anything that is involved in the case. Either you get a lawyer if you can afford one witch means that you can't get a court appointed lawyer to represent you in the criminal defense as the prosecution will argue that you paid for a lawyer to represent you in the forfeiture case so better have the 10s of thousands of dollars to fight both sides of this issue or you work out something with the prosecution to get as much of your stuff back and pay as little as you can work out with them to get your shit back. Usually means you are going to give them whatever cash you had on you and pay a bunch of towing and storage costs from the time you got arrested till the day you are able to pick ur stuff up and being they love playing games and making it hard for you to get things back your going to have to go to multiple places to get everything they took back from them. Being you have cut a deal with them to get your stuff back so you can keep working and living thats a done deal and you won't be able to change it even if your found not guilty case is dismissed ect. If you know anything about the legal system then you know that unless you have a way to pay a really good lawyer that you are not going to get away from any felony charge. A low priced or court appointed lawyer the best your going to do is a plea to something stupid or risk a trial on felony charges and hopefully you will be able to get a good jury that is not going to assume that you are a junkie dealer with weapons. Lol thats too much risk for anyone who has half a brain cell left and so they plea out to the bullshit reduced charge of whatever they can get it down to and spend more money to be able to he free and work still. So how are these things good for anyone but the police and the large amount of unaccountable money that they can spend on whatever they want to and not have to even let the public know that they have received or what they have done with it. So next time you are thinking its a good thing to have to go through the bullshit of one of these stops remember that it could very easily be you that gets taken for the ride and also when the local police tell you that they are broke and need more money then think about all of the money that they have that they don't have to tell you about or how much they have been able to sell all the shit they have takes from people who have been railroaded by the system and they were not able to fight both sides of the war so they had to give up alot of valuable stuff to be able to fight for thier freedom. The system is not what you think it is its designed to make sure that you have to have good amount of money to get away from it and if you don't have the money to buy your freedom from the system your only option is to fight for the best plea bargain you can get from them and move on. They make sure that the risks are too high for people to take with a court appointed lawyer. All lawyers have to do a certain amount of pro bono work as a court appointed lawyer. Most of the time they will use the court appointed cases as leverage to get thier paid clients more favorable outcomes. Its the reason why you can't get out of the system without having to pay in some way. Once you get wrapped up in bullshit you will not get away without some charge unless you can afford to pay a lawyer. Either way your going to have to spend a lot of time and money to get it done with

Its why you label me, someone who comes from a family with many law enforcement officers in it as well as someone who was the neighborhood watch leader and worked directly with local police to keep the neighborhood safe and secure for 10 years before I left that area and to this day still actively works with my local police to keep the area safe, a cop hater simply because I have personally been through and witnessed the bad officers and failed policies that are doing the people a disservice and drastically altering the lifes of our fellow people for no reason as well as exposing not only the officers and people directly involved in the situation but the general public to unsafe unnecessary dangers that are completely avoidable and honestly cause more harm than anything. Theres not enough good to outweigh the negatives by far and that means it's a failed way of doing it

Very cool passenger AND driver. I’m with you, to a point, about silly traffic violations. At some point even minor traffic violations need to be addressed or we can run “broken windows” scenarios. That’s just my opinion though.😁 Another great video, Eddie.✌️

You handled the initial stop like a pro man. Lights on, hands on the wheel, asking for the glove box. Good job bro. I get it about not wanting to bother with the whole warrant bullshit. It could have just been a whole, “hey, your headlight is out, get it fixed” kinda stop. I have been pulled over for the same. It happens. Most times they are cool about it because it can be a safety issue as well. If your driver side it out, someone may misjudge where the side of your car is if they are barely paying attention... But yeh... looking for drunk drivers is possible too. I’ll waste a couple minutes if maybe they catch a drunk driver. I have been a first responder also driving for Uber, but on the side only, to too many accidents involving drunk drivers. If wasting a few minutes of time for some people keeps someone else alive, I’ll take it. I still have dashcam footage from when on a ride, a drunk driver swerved on the highway, hit a minivan and sent it into the trees on the side of the highway. Both adults killed instantly, young teen with with legs broken, bones sticking out and a screaming baby in a car seat. That young teen was literally screaming to her parents through the pain of bleeding out from 2 broken legs. I prevented the kid from bleeding out and stabilized the fractures but she still lost both parents that night because of a drunk driver. And no, I’m not some billy badass medic. I’m just an ex army medic who is paranoid to the point I have basically a full Medic level medkit in my trunk at all times. I had to testify in court as well. Drunk driver was charged and convicted on 2 counts of murder and a few other charges. Their life is ruined, kids lives fucked up and 2 dead opposed to a simple DUI arrest... simple by comparison at least. he got injured too but I had my hands full and someone else helped him. Forget what was up with him exactly but maybe a broken hand and some lacerations. Nothing compared to his victims. I know... massive fucking rant. I just hope whoever is reading this just thinks about my experience here next time they are inconvenienced as cops look for drunk drivers.

Its not an Uber/LYFT story, but... I once decided to walk from Greensboro NC to Raleigh NC to see a girl. 90 miles. It took me almost 4 days. I was carrying a big pack on my back with clothes, a tent and other things. The first night, I looked for a place to pitch my tent. It was nighttime. I found a place. I went to set up my tent only to realize I left a pole at home. So, instead, I slept ON my tent rather than in it. I had some weed with me (still illegal in NC). I smoked a bowl and went to bed. I put my weed and the bowl under my shirt and used my shirt as a pillow. I was woken up by a cop telling me I was asleep on someones property, who called the police when they saw me. I thought the area was abandoned. I was in a bush and not really visable from the road. So the cop says Im trespassing and that hes going to search me. Barely awake, but quickly thinking about the weed, I said, "ok, if youre going to search me, start with this." I handed him a fishing jacket with like 30 pockets (to keep him busy) He searches it and hands it back to me. I then tell him, "Thats my bag, too," trying to defer him from looking at the shirt. He starts to look through the bag. I took the jacket and tossed it on top of the shirt. He looked around and saw nothing more to search. Then he says, "Ok, everythings good. If you want, throw your stuff in my trunk and I'll drive you to the end of my jurisdiction." I agreed, trying not to look suspicious. I picked up the jacket, shirt, weed, and bowl as one and tossed it into my bag. Then I put it in his trunk and he helped me traffik my weed down the road. I got away 100% scott free. I felt just like she did. A period of extreme paranoia, followed by a sigh of relief, and a great story to tell of how i fought the law, and the law didnt win. Great video. As always. 💯😊🌳👮‍♂️🚓

Just a heads up, in case you dont know, your passenger (and you) do not need to show ID unless you are being accused of a crime that they can reasonably articulate. Your headlight being out, first off, is not a criminal act, although at that point some states still require ID for traffic infractions. However, since your passenger is not guilty of anything at all, they do not need to give ID at all, despite what the cop says, asks, or demands. Your passengers rights are in your hands, its best to be 100% aware of your rights. This situation couldve gotten real bad for both of you. Lucky you werent subjected to the full tyranny of the law. Stay safe, brother.

About that when you said if he kept driving down that road he'd found the kid with the car, why didn't you tell him about it? I get that, for the sake of their own safety, people don't stop themselves and ask if the kid needs any help, but at least pointing out his position to the cop for him to check out would be the right thing to do. The cop already was trying to make the world a better place by informing you about your broken headlight, it was the next best thing he encountered, so he acted accordingly. He had no idea that there was a kid in distress, how could he? Also, you really didn't notice your headlight was out? You should notice it's suspiciously dark in front of the car, right?
