You stud... Nice job my brother. I try and preach all the time to my BBQ Brothers to stay in shape while doing what you love.. I did the same as you, first trip to the doctor. Now I do the gym 5-6 days a week, eat once or twice a day, and best of all, I cut out 97% sugar (like a dirty keto). I use low fat creamer and monk fruit in my coffee. Also just like you, I do intermediate fasting once a month. (48hrs) Keep it up.

Good job, Mike! I stumbled upon your method by accident. I did a few local BBQ competitions and afterward I was like "I don't want meat!" So I cut it out and ate only fish or veggies. I found that when I ate like this I was losing weight so I kept it going. I didn't suffer. I didn't feel like I was cutting anything out. I'm not losing weight as fast as you but it's happening and I'm not feeling like I had to sell my soul to the devil. You have at least verified that what I'm doing is right, so, thank you! 🤘

Congrats on your life change journey. Like most of us BBQ guys, we put on too many extra pounds. I am on week 15 of a Carnivore way of eating. You may want to check out. I am 61, my biometric age when I started was 65. 2 types of BP medicine and 260lbs. At 6 foot tall. By week 3 my BP was normal and no more meds. Down 22lbs. so far and feel like a new person just like you. Best of all I still cook outside all the time and eating meat, eggs and bacon. All 3 are man's best friends.😊

Good job, I too was in the same boat as you were, plus my wife is a type2 diabetic, we started keto about a year ago, she unfortunately fell off but is back on now, I on the other hand stayed the course and am down 70# my A1C is 5.1 now and I feel so much better, I still want to lower my insulin resistance so I fast 16hrs a day and try to make good food choices,

CONGRATS ON THE JOURNEY!! i haven't steamed veg like that on the stone, will try it. Are you still Keto? I ask because the cereal, banana, rice are all off limits for keto, but someone on Atkins would slowly introduce carbs until they hit their sweet spot (pun intended).
@cookingwithbigcat2 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, I usually just steam the veggies inside but this worked out great because I was able to get plenty of them cooked all at once. And yes I am still on Keto, I guess you could call it dirty keto. I started eating the cereal and banana before I went on Keto and didn't stop. I continued to lose weight so kept on eating it.

My husband was on the path to diabetes. Myself and the family tried to reason with him but he took it as nagging and refused to change. He likes gadgets so my son suggested a fitbit and the healthy change started and he has lost so much weight,, is more energetic his skin looks normal again , list is endless. It's time folks to take responsibility for your health you are the caretaker for you please listen to this it will save your life. Thanks for this I upload. Everyone needs you.

You look great! Cant call you Big Cat anymore haha! Can you give the list of vitamins you're taking? I am taking a mens multi vitamins and a vitamin C daily. I went to the doctor for my yearly visit and had similar blood work. My chlolesterol and blood pressure was high. As well as my A1C. My doctor told me to work out 3 times a week and eat better as well. I hope you post more of your journey. Seems like we are in similar situations with you ahead obviously. Keep it up. You just motivated me

Thank you bmums!!! I take Turmeric, Benfotiamine, Milk Thistle, Vitamin B12, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Fish Oil (Omega 3), Lion's Mane Mushroom, D3, Tudca, and Magnesium Glycinate. I also take Amlodipine for my high blood pressure and it works great. I probably don't need it anymore and actually just ran out so I'll monitor it daily and see if I still need it. Hope this helps...

You look really great. I get so confused over all this . We eat a lot of different beans. Can you eat them. Also we grill and smoke a lot and I love all kinds of bbq sauces which I was told not to eat. This was very informative and I’m going to do more research. Going camping this week and was going to make beans and ham . Not sure that’s on the diet. Oh and do you not eat beef or pork? Thanks for the inspiration.
@cookingwithbigcat2 ай бұрын
Thanks Marlene and Cecil!! I don't eat too many beans and when I do it's not much. Not because of health reasons, just me. They are good for you just don't eat too much in my opinion. I would just limit the amount of bbq sauce you use, maybe put it on the side and dip as needed. I do eat beef about once per month and again limit the amount if it is fatty meat (ribeye). I love pork but it has given me digestion issues (constipated). BUT, that was before I lost my weight so maybe something has changed. I would just limit the amounts. Also, for stuff like camping or anything like that don't worry about your diet, just don't pig out too much. Have fun!!!

In what universe is cereal w bananas a high-fat/low carb/keto meal?

Call it dirty keto if you like, it worked for me. If I wasn't continuing to lose weight I would have stopped eating it or limited to once in a while. Thanks for the comment...

The fats also stop you feeling deprived and hungry so it becomes sustainable. Fat on meat and cook with butter or tallow, just like your grandma did. Look at a photo pr 60s and no one on it will be overweight - no processed food and seed oils. Well done 👍🏼🇬🇧
