@@Crackheadcentral2188 the idea of the leader of the group, essentially the face and the one who glues the troupe together, not being able to speak is hilarious. maybe they come from an unknown land with its own language and culture, or their speech is cursed in some form. i imagine they have at least one companion to translate for them

8:15 Makes complete sense as well. It's just like how you use "Lame" in English. Someone who is incapable of speaking is "Silenced" in Dutch for example the word for being Silenced or Mute is "Stom" However "Stom" is also "Stupid" just like how "Lame" is used for someone who cannot move or cannot move well but also used as a negative expression.
@dalledb50149 ай бұрын
I noticed something like this as well! "1D12 marriage damage" could be because of the swedish word "Gift" which both mean marriage and poison.
@_burningshadow_80109 ай бұрын
@@dalledb5014 Cool seems likely then, 😂 Lmao that's even worse than like the spanish equivalent where the word for Marriage means both Marriage and like "being in chains" or something like that. But at least that makes "some" sense I sure hope the etymology for the Swedish 2 words aren't related cuz damn. Marriage = Poison is kind of Crazy 🤣. I mean Dutch has plenty in common with Scandinavian language to where I can sort of understand them especially many common or "old/mythology" words (Oorlog, Donder, Bliksem) some of which even Dutch kept whereas Swedish and Norwegian "replaced" (obviously unlike English they didn't straight up replace them but another word simply became more common) them with different words. (Dutch changed very little throughout history with the many disadvantages and advantages that that brings.) but never heard of this one before gonna guess it's just like "give" (to give someone away in mariage and perhaps poison was also "given" by something I dunno) but that's crazy coincidence still.
@kabla74729 ай бұрын
@@_burningshadow_8010 You are exactly right - gift comes from "given", as in you giving someone away to be married and giving someone poison! Nice one, I looked it up in Danish to double check. And as for silence becoming stupid, that could happen just in English, silent -> dumb -> stupid
@_burningshadow_80109 ай бұрын
@@kabla7472 Yes I mean I don't doubt it used to be the same in english especially in old English before they "ruined/broke" the entire language into a nonsensical inconsistent mess but it's not used like that in modern English anymore at least not much as far as I'm aware. Like you don't call someone "dumb" instead of "mute" whereas in Dutch you "sort of" do to be clear a more accurate translation of Dumb = Dom (Stupid) yet "Stom" doesn't usually mean "unintelligent" although it can, but often it's more like "that sucks" "Dat is stom" And when you refer to someone as "Stom" they are either actually a Mute or it's more meant like "Mean" or sometimes Idiotic/Moronic. Whereas "Dom" always concerns (lack of) intelligence. But yes the way Dumb can still be used like that is defenitly the Equivelant of stom/verstomd But it's just like a word like "Trek" they still have the word but 90% of the time they'll use "Trac" or "Pull" instead.
