This was so satisfying as a fellow skin tech. Biba actually knows what the fuck she's talking about and is giving Safiya real science. I almost cried when she said Saf was dehydrated and not dry. It's the simplest thing that so many videos like this get wrong
@DreamNationZz2 жыл бұрын
almost cried though? why
@tasmynjean39002 жыл бұрын
@@DreamNationZz It's one of the first and most important things to learn about skin care and you almost never seen videos like this say it right. The amount of people I have had to reteach how to take care of their painfully dehydrated skin after being sacred for decades about being 'too oily' is staggering. It's damaging when people are taught the wrong thing so it made me extremely, emotionally happy to see the right thing being said here
@mrss42252 жыл бұрын
@@tasmynjean3900 what do you recommend for dehydrated skin and what signs are there?
@tasmynjean39002 жыл бұрын
@@mrss4225 The most important think to remember is that dry skin and dehydrated skin are different. They appear similar but have different causes and treatments. Dry = lack of oil. Dehydrated = lack of water. The trick is to both pull water into your skin and prevent the evaporation of water from you skin. One of the best ingredients for pulling in water is hyaluronic acid, a molecule that can attract 100s of times its own weight in water molecules. I recommend a proper cosmeceutical grade serum though as HA has become a bit of a buzzword in recent years and I wouldn't trust most drug store brands. To prevent evaporation you need a good barrier moisturiser. Again I'd recommend a cosmeceutical over a drug store brand but can't really be more specific because there's a lot of great options and I don't know what might be most convenient to you. Hope this helps!

Someone being more shy, reserved, introverted translates to not treating someone like a human being? That’s a bit of a stretch. In the lymph nodes are also where B- and T-cells sit and wait around for a little bit to see if they encounter a antibody presenting cell that has encountered something (like a bacteria or other). if they don't encounter it, they move on and hang out in the next lymph node that they encounter . I feel like Biba is like me, by just watching her reactions to Safiya she seems to be slightly closed off in a way of professionalism and as a person overall. She seems cold at first glance, not very reactive but not in a bad way. I feel like she withholds all her happy emotions inside, she seems very excited just doesn't know how to express it, but you can see little bursts then and there. She seemed genuinely delighted to be in Saf's presence and shows that in her own way. I feel like she's someone who doesn't mind silence when in a crowd or sitting in a cafe with someone completely content to enjoy their presence by that itself. Just remember to keep hydrating! Oily isn't hydration, so you can get clogged pores from the dead skin cells that can't detach from the skin without the moisture, and the dirty oils gets trapped. Your complexion can look dull and greyish. Your moisturizer won't work as well if your skin can't release the dead skin too, which is why people get the facials, so it does a heavy duty exfoliation and moisturization to reset the skin to a place where you can take care of it properly. Also drink lots of water after a lymphatic drainage. It can cause you to feel a little ill when the stuff all gets drained at once, and a headache and slight stomach ache is common

i know this is a small thing, but i really appreciated saf and tyler editing in a female presenting body during the lymphatic drainage section. it's really nice to see representation of different bodies in medical diagrams.
@thelemurofmadagascar91832 жыл бұрын
. . . it's just a diagram. Pretty sure representation is an entirely useless factor here.
@sterlingodeaghaidh50862 жыл бұрын
A lot of medical texts these days use all sorts of models, Everything from race to male and female, to obese and even age. My textbook for EMT class has literally every body type somewhere in it either as a drawn model or as an actor or even real medical images.

i simply meant to say that historically medical diagrams only depicted male bodies. and furthermore, science was only interested in understanding male bodies (as science was/is a male dominated field). this was detrimental to our understanding of women’s health. for example, symptoms of a woman’s heart attack are vastly different from symptoms of a a man’s heart attack. oftentimes women mistake a heart attack for mensural cramps (back pain and cramping are common heart attack symptoms in women) because we are only taught to look for chest pains and left arm numbness (all symptoms typically experienced by men). i am so glad that this is changing now! it is wonderful that more genders, races, ages, and body types are represented in medical textbooks. but that does not mean it has always been that way.
@yikeswazowski Жыл бұрын
@@thelemurofmadagascar9183 I know this is super old but representation is the most important in medical diagrams because sometimes med students do not learn to identify problems as effectively on anyone who isn't a thin white male. No hate, just pointing it out.

OMG yes! I wish more people on YT would take a science based approach instead of just going to so many possible kooks and non experts and then parrot potential misinformation because they don’t know any better and don’t want to insult anyone. I’m sure there’s some slight benefit in stuff like this, mostly in self care and feeing good, but the majority is just a placebo. Some of it can actually be damaging but if it has a catchy name and some convincing-sounding jargon it sells!

@@AlbinoAxolotl this! And like, there's nothing wrong with the benefits being self care/relaxation oriented (as long as the stuff isn't harmful). But if people are fearmongering their customers into doing these treatments, or at least making claims about what they can and can't do that are misleading, then it needs to be called out. Especially if it costs literally hundreds of dollars lol.
