Thank you so much to Amen Clinics for working with me on my brain health.
Let me know if you enjoy this video and if you learned something new. I wanted to bring to light how serious head injuries are and I've definitely struggled with them. Thankful to be on the path to a healthier brain!

why call it vunerable i just call it strength to face things, vulnerable says to me someone who does not really address issues so dodging the possible answers , strength to face what could be not nice answers shows conviction of if there is a possible problem I will be strong to face it and sort it. the vulnerable tag does not do it for me the cuddly wuddly poor old nope very not the case -- she saw the possible problem thought on it faced it sorted it simple -- strong little lady well done indeed besides weakness =strength= daft

@@lesliecompton4061 - fair enough. I was using the term 'vulnerable' in the way it's defined in the dictionary. This explains it well: "Being vulnerable means being in a position where other people can hurt you. It often means expressing the sides of yourself about which you have the least confidence or certainty, and allowing others to respond to them."

Well done. I am going through a different path, as I suffered to brain damage in 1985, where I had a golf ball size of my brain removed after a mass of veins that wont grow normally. I had several scans, therapy etc and learned so much from the entire experience. After many years to learn how to speak and comprehend again, I became a long distant walker, to create awareness of the millions of invisible disabilities, that we do not know about. What you are doing is just as important for you as for others, to never sweep issues under carpet and talk about them, make videos and find solutions.

Dear Sydney, this was such an interesting video. So educational. Going for detailed medical tests is quite scary and especially when the results are some good and some not quite so good. I think that is what happens for most people. Because none of us are perfect. We all have something not quite perfect about us. But luckily for you you have lots of positives! I've never seen one of your videos before. You were put within the top six of my KZbin list when I opened the app. So the KZbin algorithm is definitely working for you. And I'm happy that it did for you up on my list because your video was really good to watch. I too have gone for a scan of my body and had to drink the juice and wait for a while before getting into the MRI machine. And like you I had mixed results. Some good and some not quite so good, but I think that's what happens for most people! I find that the knowledge is something to embrace and use for the good of my health. It helps me to think a little bit about what I'm doing or eating or my lifestyle. I'm quite healthy anyway but now and again it helps me to keep it in mind and think about things long term. I'm wishing you every success in your parkour, your stunts and whatever else you do and enjoy in your life.

One other thing. Head gear, like a boxers or cyclist helmet. Would that work for you doing Parkour? I used to ride motorcycles a lot, so obviously I wore a helmet a lot. A couple of times I was lucky I was wearing it. I've done some roller skating jumps, and bicycling and BMX jumps and stuff like this. It was when I was younger. I didn't wear a helmet while doing that stuff because they weren't really a thing back then. But if I was a kid doing that stuff now, I would consider wearing a helmet and maybe lightweight gloves. I'm going to subscribe because I want to know what happens next and I hope you can continue to recover and enjoy your life and have a wonderful time doing all the things you do.

Very helpful video. Shame that brain scans aren’t used as an early diagnostic tool in mental health assessments. Would save a lot of money, time and suffering, and enable much better directed treatment as opposed to the guesswork system we currently use. And if used as part of a medical checkup, as in the video, could help prevent future problems.

@@JesgateOnDown Who are you replying to? Did someone delete a comment? The issue is not really money - I don’t need insurance but have never been offered a brain scan. Have had other expensive tests, though, because they are recognised as being useful. The problem with mental health/autism/ADHD etc. is that the medical profession doesn’t see the benefit of physical scans. Brain scans would enable focussed treatment to be given from the outset and would potentially save a lifetime of expensive and ineffective treatments that result from a wrong diagnosis.

You have a dent in your forehead, which is where your prefrontal cortex is. That is the part of your brain that handles executive function, planning, equating consequences with actions BEFORE you take action. This part of the brain becomes fully wired into the lower brain between the ages of 21-27 years old (unless you experience emotional, psychological, or physical trauma). Once I learned this, I never snowboarded down another double black diamond run without having a proper snowboarding helmet. If you mess up your brain function, life as you once knew it will never be the same. I also have been formally diagnosed with ADHD, have fast neural processing and pick up on things very quickly, was a gymnast growing up, but I also got very lucky with having a high IQ and I learned to develop a high EQ in adulthood (after age 25). Protect your brain function at ALL COSTS, as well as your spinal cord. So glad you caught this while you're still so young. When she mentioned NFL players, in conjunction with your treatment, I'll admit, I felt a little sick for you. Please take excellent care of yourself!

If I remember correctly you are mostly plant-based. I strongly suspect she recommended the fish oil to balance out your Omega-3s to your Omega-6s. If you dive into this topic a little you might be easily able to substitute the fish oil for a plantbased alternative 😊 it was a really interesting video. And from my personal viewpoint (I am also very weary of health-related scam) there is no reason to suspect this here contrary to what some other comments suggested. Her interpretations made perfect sense and her recommendations absolutely aligned with any research on brain health I have ever come across. Thank you for getting so personal with us! @@SydneyOlson flax seed oil is the plant based alternative, but it means you have to rely on your body to convert it into EPA and DHA. There's no way to see how effective your body is at this process so to reap the benefits I think going with actual omega 3 fish oil is best, especially if you require extra concentration of EPA and DHA for a specific purpose like repairing your brain.. Will you share the other supplements that were recommended to you?

honestly , this was informative, but in need of an update. brain-science needs to evolve to the point, where they're using low-wavelength microwaves to break any scar tissue, that's allowed the brain to go cold, after trauma. i don't know if it works in other parts of the human body, in terms of rehabilitation, but it's obviously priceless - in terms of potential.

Excellent video, if you are noticing issues with your memory, you may want to consider seeing a sleep specialist. Especially if you're sleeping less than 7.5 hours. There's ample data showing that people that sleep six hours or less function at 40% less when it comes to math skills, memory, reaction time, when compared to people to sleep 7.5 hours or more . They're also considerably more irritable. Frankly, in modern society sleep deprivation tends to be a lot more common than ADHD even though this diagnosis is given out all the time. good luck!!!

That one darkened spot does seem to correlate to the 'cut' area over your right eye. But remember, "neuroplasticity", a funny made up term to describe one's brain growing and rerouting connections to overcome these reductions, is always going on. Try to do daily tasks that work out the skills you feel are impacted. I recently had a TIA, and now a few months later have found that certain words that I used to spell with no issue, now look funny when I type them out, so I have to look them up to verify. I've started keeping a notebook on these as they pop up. Going to do typing and word exercises to help this.

I could relate with everything that was said... I've made some appointments in the past with psychologists and a psychiatrist but they didn't know what I wanted from them. Like... how do you not understand I just want a scan and where should I go. I might email them this video to give an example.i know these scans are relatively new but how hard must it be to not understand I just want a scan and advce in the same manner as shown here, talk about foods and supplements... I keep forgetting to do these things and if I did in the past I might have some weak times that I'm a bit foggy headed and then it's like a good habit gets erased if I'm not reminded about it. I wonder about which other supplements you have been taking other than those mentioned in the video. And do you notice anything at all? Those memory tests can be a bit deceiving if you are nervous at all. I've seen people all my life (myself included) whose brain will freeze up memory-wise in tense situations. And are they sold everywhere or do they sell their own "perfect" mix?

The supplements can be bought anywhere as there weren’t specific to a certain brand. It was mostly just the fish oil and supplementing B vitamins as well as others to enhance blood flow to the brain. What I didn’t show here is the fact that she and I had already talked beforehand and she looked into my history from those tests as well as surveys etc. but yeah we have to talk about all of it again to make the audience understand. But with something like ADHD, it’s all symptom-based anyway. There’s a lot of skepticism already around that as an issue. But yeah I mean the concussions are treatable. A lot of that comes from lifestyle stuff. They’ll probably never fully go away, but I’m just doing what I can to make sure there is some improvement there. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment! If you’re interested in more science behind it, maybe listen to the podcast I shared.

Its nothing to be afraid of if you take action, but if you do nothing, you do have soemthing to fear. Its like not going to a docter for chest pains.

I hope in the future CGI means you guys can wear head protection. I like my movies and TV but would prefer if the workers had safety especially with the head. Banged up knees rehab much easier than your brain

Interesting video. Just a little criticism though - you need a better cameraman cos it goes unfocused when zooming in or out. It’s a headache trying to follow it. Or get a new editor.

Truth be told after 50+ years on this earth I have never had any diagnosed concussion. But I would be an fool to say that I have never been concussed. Cause I have had a few head knocks, or even been hit in the head with cricket balls / hockey balls ….

Your scar is on the right side of your forehead. That hole was on the left side of the scan. Why are they swapped?

maybe you could find a non ADD assitant for your safety planning in sports, I guess a bit like the stunt planning that occurs in the movie industry. I am feeling a bit weird about the first injury in the picture. Let's say you have an history of ADD and even organized your carreer around that (which I commend you for, I'm struggling to adapt my work life). Then you get an injury right in a brain region that is responsible for the same functions the ADD had reduced prior. What are the odds of that? are we mixing pre-existing conditions and brain injuries here?

I don't think you should outsource safety decisions to someone else, especially when it comes to things that are close to the limits of your abilities. Nobody knows your limits better than yourself and not thinking something through properly because someone else gave you a "go" decision can be very dangerous.
