I always kinda loved the look of the old Buells back in the 00s - they had short wheelbases & were very flickable, wheelied easily, stoppied easily - those who wanted to do stunts tended to get them. Pretty much the only American bike I was really interested in buying. Never really got the Harley vibe, but these were pretty capable bikes at the time & had a number of innovations like the fuel in frame (and iirc engine oil in the swingarm..?) & those mahoosive radial disk hoops.

No TC no ABS or 6 axis IMUs and honestly it's fine, personally the raw feel of a bike is way better than anything with rider aids like that, so nice to see a modern bike with older technology keeping it true. I am not sure the submodel nor the mods on that bike but from the record time I can tell, the bike is a beast! I saw good riders on track do 1:20 or even 1:19 and I also saw great riders on KZbin do 1:18 low but the record is 1:13 something. Can not believe it!

The idea that someone would pay $20k for bikes that had trouble selling at $9k nearly ten years ago is wild. It’s not a bad bike, but it wasn’t competitive and worth the money then. Why do they think it would be now? The new Buell hasn’t done anything to this bike to update it.

My x1 was my favorite motorcycle. I must disagree with the thunderstorm evo platform that the torque made it rip out of the corners instead of dropping gears on the 4cyl bikes.

The 1125 motor was Erik’s design just manufactured by Rotax in Australia. I am sure it still shares a lot with the 1190.

I met a guy whom was proud of his beast of a Buell bike. He was revving the engine talking about how powerful what magic it was. It sounded beastly and that was about 7 or 8 years ago roughly. It was a sport bike. Yes I had to ask him about it when I saw that Buell name on the side.

I havent watched the track video yet but rode a Buell on track for 100+ hrs & want to mention an advantage of the radial rotor, when you brake in a corner the bike doesn't want to stand upright...as much.

I agree the older buells vibrated like a Harley. My buddy had a 2006 kickstand vibrated off while riding.Try that nightmare!throttle stuck on him and it was full throttle too!Not impressed at all with it and he sold it shortly after.Good idea saved his life I'm sure.

I ride 1 of 10 made white 2017 EBR 1190rx. It’s tuned from EBR with HMF 70mm pipes and stock gearing and it is sick. Nothing handles like it Bruddah! There are razor blades out there but only one scalpel! That bike is a supreme workout in the track. There is not to much to save you and it ls Very Angry! Before I rode this bike the Danktona Sex75 was quickest shiftiest bike I was on.

Hopefully it doesn't have the "fuel boiling in the frame" problem of some older Buell's. I'm actually surprised that they're still doing it, after all the bad press.

A race tune and race coolant helps tremendously. The boiling fuel only happens at low fuel and it doesn’t hurt anything. The tank has a pressure release.they run lean from the factory to meet emissions and that makes more heat

Try to test ride both. I would hope you’d buy the Buell, just Cuz, MERICA, but I have ridden the 1200 RR Triumph and it was amazing, an absolute powerhouse. Ended up buying a Tuono V4 instead, but I didn’t even know these Buells were actually in production again!

buell's still use rotax motors actually, but rotax motors are great motors and are usually decently powerful but very reliable. many rotax motors are derived form airplane motors because rotax motors are what power a lot of small aircraft. can am quads use them and overall iv seen nothing but good performance and good reliability from them, plus they are mostly Canadian and partially American but all north American .well its definitely not as refined as other modern bikes and its priced just as high BUT that's because they are a small brand without as much experience so its obviously difficult and much more expensive to make a competitive sport bike. if I were in the market for a sport bike and I had enough for that bike i would get it even though it is not as good bang for the buck and I recommend that yall look into it too because the more buyers they get the cheaper their motorcycles will cost and eventually we can have a super competitive American brand!
