As a Home Health Nurse I find the responses of both these Nurses to be ridiculous. You should know that if you are going into people's homes that there will often be pets involved. As for a snake in yard... walk around it! The resulting response from the agency is even more absurd. Leaving a patient with an unflushed port due to melodramatic staff Nurses is unacceptable. I hope you find a better agency to help you with your needs, Kayla.

Our daughter did that for a number of years and the only time she drew the line was when a wheel chair bound woman asked her to go out to where her goats lived and feed them. Sarah told her she would that day but she would have to make other arrangements. Sarah actually thought that was funny but she didn't want to start anything.

Isn’t that patient abandonment? That’s very unprofessional. I sure hope Kayla’s port doesn’t get clotted off. I agree that agency should be reported to her physician and state. Then find another agency. I’m sure they could have sent another nurse that could do her job as an in home health nurse.

Exactly! Ridiculous, now what do you do to get your port flushed? It is a terrible that this company would put you at risk like this. I hope you called your doctor and reported them. They are supposed to give you notice prior to discontinuing your care. Also you are too sweet and forgiving! Hope your port does not clot, the procedure for that is not good!!! Bless you🙏

My belated mother in law was a RN for 53 years - practicing all of those 53 yrs. Only hades would have stopped her from her duties. She wore her nurses cap every day she worked. She told me she earned that cap and by golly, she would always wear it. Old school nurses- they must have broken the mold, but there surely is a nurse or nurses assistant out there for you!

Instead of letting you go, the agency should have let the employee go or atleast sent another employee that wasn't so afraid of a little garter snake. Atleast it wasn't a "rattler"!😮 I hope you immediately let your doctor know that this happened so he can get someone else sent out soon!! Watching as you make your doll clothing. HAVE YOU EVER USED A SMALLER CROCHET YARN FOR YOUR SMALLER DOLLS? Your patience amazes me as does your ability to crochet after having your finger amputations. Wow, really? My boyfriend has a home health nurse and I can tell you they aren't supposed to be telling clients their opinion on that stuff. How can a client be responsible for wildlife? When my boyfriend's nurse comes over and has an issue with anything they have to bring it to their company first. I mean stuff like you experienced. The patient comes first. We also get the patient's bill of rights notice that explains what the workers are and are not responsible for. That agency can lose its license for stuff like that. There is a reason people have these nurses and that company is responsible for the patient's care. I'm sorry it upsets me greatly because there are so many people who are abused and neglected and for an employee to just take off like that could mean life and death to someone. Oh my goodness. You have had some wussy nurses. lol I did home health for years and I could write a book about some of the things I saw and some of the homes and environments I went in to. My supervisor would have laughed at me if I called and said I didn't want to go back because of a sweet little dog and 2 cats. Or a snake in the yard for that matter. I hate a snake, but even that would not have got me out of a visit. lol I am in Georgia and we don't back down that easy.

I wish I had the money to buy a plane ticket to come out there to help you. I have snakes in my back and side yard. Only the copperhead scare me, and my hubby kills those. Garder snakes are actually very nice, I used to have a few as pets when I was a teen. I hope there's a nurse with a backbone that will come out there to help you. Love your little pumpkin-head!😊 I can understand the nurse being afraid of the snake (I'm terrified of ALL snakes) but I don't understand the agency penalizing the patient for something beyond your control. They know where you live and should make sure that they send someone who can handle the environment. If your vitals were indicating that you were in danger, she would never know because she never measured them. This is very negligent of the nurse and the agency. You reminded me of my mom , being able to create , something quite cute that your baby will be proud of. Just as my Mom did for me ,my whole life growing up, along the end of August we would go get the Spiegel's Catalog and I got to pick fabric for school clothes as long as it wasn't something that she would rip her hair out sewing it because it was a nightmare to work with, or she would let me know it would make me look like Little Lotta. I just never realized how much it hurt her sitting up until four a.m. sewing on those dang clothes, worryiing about my weight. I would wake up in our small house and look out to her sewing corner and see her crying while she worked every so often but just briefly, she was a tough cookie. Anyway you've got that same grit and drive in you....and talent galore!!!

We have very strict homecare rules as well. Pets have to get locked away, no smoking households the list goes on. Many people just go without care. That's the price of Canadian Healthcare. Praying you continue to get the continued Healthcare you require 🤗

I have never made anything like this but was thinking you might in the middle of row in the maybe 2 or 3 stiches half double or double crochet stitches would have made a middle part for your romper. Having been both a home health provider as well as a recipient of some awesome home health care, I am dumbfounded by the sheer level of stupidity that this agency exhibited. Not only did they leave their patient in the lurch due to their incompetence, but then had the nerve to blame it on you??!! My home health nurses always stopped to give my fur babies a pet when they were here. Some of them jokingly said they would put them in their kits and take them home. i'm from the city but now i live pretty rural and i'm surprised at how many people who are born and raised here are afraid of snakes. i am not but i do understand that many people have a deep set fear of them. my friend had a ring neck snake that lived in her rock wall for years. when we were helping her move i noticed a bunch of recently hatched babies in the living room. i gathered as many of them that i could find and put them outside. p.s. i think your pumpkin baby and doll are great! p.p.s. happy birthday big daddy!!!
