I got LAID OFF! (And decided to try flatbedding!)

A couple weeks ago, I got a huge surprise - my beloved company, SeSe, went through a huge “restructure” and the let half our fleet go, including me… I was devastated and shocked but that very same day, my friend Claude came to my rescue and got me hired on with his company, a flatbedding firm.. So, after cleaning out my SeSe truck, I hopped in his big KW900L and headed to Florida! It’s a lot of physical work (which I love) and I decided to really give it a go.. This video is our first week out, driving as a team, to Florida and then Texas. Stay tuned for next week’s video also, it will highlight my first week in my own truck.

Landed a new job after the old employer let you go, had a good trucking partner with you to help and talk to, found a quiet place to stop, church lot, and get the truck fixed, then a nice truck stop to refuel, cleaned up, get dinner, and sleep. Just stumbled across this video and it's my first time seeing you. I'm a 75 yr. old guy, former owner/operator up here in New Hampshire. Went out on the road for the first time in 1978. Traveled most of the country with just a Rand McNally Road Atlas and a CB radio, BUT NEVER PAID TO PARK ANYWHERE !! WTF is this country coming to ?!! Do they charge you even if you buy fuel ? They'd better not !! So I just subscribed

yes, they charge even if u buy fuel or other services.. thankfully, not all of them are doing it, it seems to be mostly in certain states and certain t/s but either way its awful.. its just another way to gouge the trucker and/or their company.. as if we don't get enough gouging by DOT and shops... thanks for being here and thank u for your years of service in this industry!!

@@being_eli Well it's like you're being penalized for being a customer ! I imagine every one of them in the same area do it so you can't boycot the ones that do it ? I know we stop at the most convenient ones and the ones with the best stores, etc.. It's really too bad greed has become such a normal thing. Just wondering---have you encountered any trucker strikes in your travels ? I remember back in the late '70's and very early '80's getting caught in the midwest during either beer hauler, steel hauler, or even one time a fuel price strike when I couldn't buy fuel to get back home. During them, if you had fuel, you had to run empty and during the day either with a sign on your trailer reading "EMPTY-GOING HOME", or run with one door tied open so as to show an empty trailer. There were large rocks and concrete blocks dropped off bridges and going through windshields killing drivers.

DD Series 60 engines . Carry a Synchronous Reference Sensor ( SRS ) and a Timing Position Sensor ( TPS ) for your engine in your tool box . If your truck does not start , good chance SRS sensor shorted . SRS sensor located above air compressor . The ECM receives power from a fuse inside the battery box .

well since it was only my 2nd trip on that truck, I wasn't familiar with it.. Even the mechanic that came out originally thought it might be turbo and it wasn't till after testing it that he went elsewhere.. the way the truck was driving earlier that day, it did present as a turbo.. it just goes to show that not everyone is always right about everything...

Flat beds are one place a petit woman or man for that matter are at a disadvantage. Throwing tarp is strenuous and demanding. In a high wind it can be downright lethal. A couple dozen yards of tarp become a sail with just the touch of a breeze and will quickly educate you just how sail boats could move at all. Good luck with your new endeavor.

yes throwing the straps can be humorous to watch me do occasionally .. fortunately I am very strong, coming from a competitive bodybuilding career, but the short I can't help.. lol. I do a lot of climbing and crawling to fix the straps that don't sail over.. usually I get 8 out of 10 tho.. and as I develop my own technique, which I am already starting to streamline, it should get better.. the pipe I hauled (will be seen in the next video) was the most difficult by far to date.. but I got 'er done!!!

Got a suggestion for noise while you’re driving. If you can import the audio into a program like audacity (which is free) you can isolate your voice from all the other noise and put the edited audio in you video. i didn't watch your whold video but i drove flatbed and i broke my knee my hospital bill was 250 thousand dollars and work comp did pay for it. be very careful out there and never be in a hurry or a rush with a truck period. you are your own boss. i have seen too many injuries with flat bedding so i do not do it anymore but i still drive truck i haul cement pneumatic tankers. it is short haul so i am mostly home every night and i have a 60 hour reset not 34. if you are willing to relocate to my area midwest i can probably get you hired. my boss is a woman she has 5 kids and she is not just my dispatcher she also drives a truck. you would be our 2nd female driver. she would love you. i think you would enjoy working here. I am not a recruiter just a driver. i will recieve nothing for refering you. i'm not going to refer you but i can put a good word in for you if you wish. :)

That is Exactly Why I never give two week notices or any notice and never have because there is no company that will ever give you a notice so why should it be a standard that we give them a notice?!?!? Think about that people. im not an asshole though I do tell them why I'm not giving them two weeds and maybe only a day or maybe 2-3 if there asses about it I give them none but ever EX Boss I have ever had has understood that in business you don't give employees' notice before you lay them off or fire them so dont expect me to do the same only seems fair! On another note the FEDS need to stop that pay to park shit with a Law because it will force drivers to park on ramps etc because no driver is gonna pay$140 a week to park. those truck stops are not that nice and the shitter im gonna use is not that clean and is not worth $20 thats for sure. Maybe $5 but there is now way I would stay at a pay parking truck stop. three a pint to just park for a short time. ALL YOU DRIVERS NEED TO BOYCOTT ANY TRUCK STOP THAT CHARGES FOR PARKING DONT BUY FUEL DONT EVEN STOP THERE TO PISS WE ALL DO THAT AND MT TRUCK STOPS WILL MAKE THEM THINK THAT TWICE $$ TALKS AND NO $$ WALKS or FAILS!
