I've been involved in the hiring process as a manager, and I can confirm that companies post job openings and conduct interviews with no intention of hiring. The reason why they do this is: 1. A company with zero job postings on their website looks bad, they post openings just to maintain a fascade that they're performing so well they need additional help. 2. Managers conduct interviews just to fill their calendars with meetings so they can appear like they're actually working... they're not. We all know most managers are useless and spend most of their days in pointless meetings. The sad truth is that they're using candidates as pawns in their game of corporate politics. For those who went on interviews and didn't get the job, don't blame yourself, it wasn't your fault. Most likely the company had no intention of hiring anyone.

I got laid off Tuesday after being told 4 months ago that my job was safe for at least a year. I got divorced 8 years ago after 26 years of marriage. I raised my kids so, despite my degree, jobs don’t want a 58 year old with not a ton of job experience. I live in Northern VA so my rent for a tiny 1 BR apartment is $2700/mo. I get $1200/mo in alimony. I’ve been at this job for 3 1/2 years and it felt like family. But since I was given the news, only 1 person has asked me if I’m okay. Even my immediate supervisor hasn’t asked. I’m so hurt, but I’ve come to the realization that nobody matters. Companies don’t value employees or give a crap if they are going to be okay.

Your worth is not in how much money you have. I wish you the best. I am going to share my Christian belief system--which you are free to ignore. This is just how I feel . To me, your worth is having a relationship with God and doing what He wants . You do not need to be wealthy to display the "fruits of the Spirit" in your life. You do not have to be wealthy to volunteer or help others. Billy Graham, a preacher who spoke to thousands, once said the janitor who cleaned up the auditorium had an important job and God valued them both equally. This is a different way of viewing life. When we die, the relationship we have with God will determine our status in eternity--not our job or accomplishments. Jesus said the road to Heaven is narrow and few will find it while the road to Hell is wide and many will be on it. I am thankful I grew up in a Baptist Church with simple rural people. Few were wealthy, but they were good, solid people. I am in that kind of church NOW--no perfect people, just ones who are trying to give God a place in their life. I will give you an example of something that happened to me recently. I gave some money and Macdonald's gift cards to a homeless man standing on a street corner. I found out his name was Jeffrey and the housing board was going to meet to consider his request for subsidized housing the next Wednesday. I told him I would pray for him on that day if he would pray for me because I was as having surgery for breast cancer that same day. As I drove away, I heard him asking the Lord to heal me and to protect me during surgery. My surgery went well, and I think God did not care if a wealthy man or a poor one was praying for me. I appreciated that prayer. I also did pray for him, and I hope to hear he found housing here before the terribly cold weather hit. I am also praying that once he got his housing settled, he would find a full-time job. To this point, he had only had temporary ones. Not having a place to stay makes it hard to stay employed. I believe our lives down here are really a test--to show who we really are.

I look to be around your age (28) and this spring, I was laid off from work for the 3rd time. The first time, I took it hard as I was a naively, aspiring career woman and I was only 1.5 years into the workforce. The second time was in 2022 and I learned to not care by then, shrug, move on, and file for unemployment. A job is a job now a days, and I only care about work so that I can make just enough money to live within my means.

I started to notice things change back when Obama was in office and things slowly got worse until people started getting laid off or fired, companies got shut down, etc. I was fired from my last job after 7 months of working there. They kept saying that because of the economy they don't have enough work.

The universe as you believe in it does not exist. There is only your Creator, Jesus Christ and Satan. Please understand that unless you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ you by default belong to Satan. Everything that is going on is spoken of within the Bible and is only going to get worse. Please turn to Jesus Christ. Acknowledge that you are a sinner in need of a Savior; repent of your sins; leave the things of the world behind and surrender your life to Him. The window of time to repent is closing soon. What is coming next is going to be devastating. Please humble yourself and cry out to God. Please turn to Him. It is too late for me but may not be for you.

In America, we have no idea how bad companies can treat us. I was on Reddit and someone said that a global company had to do layoffs. In a single day, Americans all lost their jobs. Other countries had negotiations and severance. As i recall, it took some other countries 6 months to layoff employees in other countries. In other countries they have to have a damn good reason to let you go. Not like here. We really need to get on these politicians about workers rights. There’s nothing beneficial to society to have people lose their jobs overnight.
@MeghanSAmaya3 ай бұрын
That’s not actually true. Unless you’re in those countries you have no idea what goes on and what does not. I currently live in Mexico and wages and longer work days are a norm. Some places only give Sundays off. So it’s all relative. They also usually never get a severance package and they don’t have unemployment benefits of any sort. You’re just SOL if you lose your job.

I applaud your steadfastness! Specifically, looking for opportunities of what the universe has revealed to you. I would add/share another calculation to your next future endeavor. Having been laid off multiple times, I also include my human capital time to the calculations. For example, looking at my current age, how many years I desire to work to make enough money to place myself in a position to purchase some cheap land. That way I can pay my self my rent, saved money goes to paying down obligated debts, leverage square footage to grow healthy food, and just grow old. It is feasible to find owner financed property everywhere in the United States. I purchased 5ac. of land for $210 a month 9% interest on a $14k owner financed plot of land. It will clear and free in 3 years time. I am wishing you all the best going forward! "Stars shine brightest in the dark"

It’s always good to try though however until you see financial stability from it you can only do it as a hobby

How I've tried thinking about my own channel is the reality of how consistency compounds. A lot of people were doing videos for as long as they were, and then for whatever reason one video they did ended up being the means to help them become more known, which obviously would help that goal of KZbin being one's full time job. They had that habit or lifestyle of doing videos consistently and the specific video that helped them propel was just part of their normal routine. Don't know if that helps or adds to what you were thinking about, but it's helpful to me. If we're consistent, eventually what you do will become something more than what it is now. Learning a new language, a new skill, building a history with a new friend, saving money, and so on. But anyway, I wish you the best and thank you for the thoughts!
