In this video, I introduce my new online community called Nomad School and take you on a tour of one of my favorite co-working spaces in Chiang Mai, Thailand called Wako Bake.
Nomad School is a place for digital nomads to connect, learn, and grow together. I share my vision for the community and why I think it's important for nomads to have a supportive network.
Wako Bake is a beautiful and inspiring co-working space that is perfect for remote workers, and I show you around and explain why I love it so much. I hope you enjoy the video and consider joining Nomad School and checking out Wako Bake for yourself!

Hey man, elephant would be "Chang", not "Chiang". "Chiiang" means "Walled city", "Mài" means "new".

My case is unique but my grandmother is actually encouraging me to move to Thailand. She is from Japan and talks about how many Japanese people are moving to Thailand. Also, I think I’ve been to Wako Bake! I stayed at the Trio building for a month in 2018.

Hi Brett, thanks for making this video, it really struck a cord, regarding being new to Chiang Mai, starting up and feeling a bit lonely and isolated. I visited all the caffe shops you kindly recommended. I do like the Wako, but end up enjoying the Elephant more, as the lady is super nice and friendly. Its so good to see you back on YT, special thanks for the new group you created, fantastic idea and sure to be appreciated by the community.

Thanks, Brett! I've been watching your videos for weeks now in preparation for my move to Chiang Mai in early 2023 so I was SUPER pumped to hear about this new community effort. Applied and hope to connect with other like-minded people there soon!

Looks like a great spot, I would work there on my laptop on projects for sure. I'm signed up and my goals are likely to be vastly different than the others with regard to the type of online work, but your mantra is the same, location independence with some form of online $$ + freedom, that rings the bell!

For sure you were my inspiration to come over to Chiang Mai. And it's working out although I won't call myself a digital nomad. More like a digital settler. 😄

Love Wako Bake! Very nice spot to just chill and enjoy a bite of food and do some work. Close to Maya Mall, just down the road a bit. Glad they survived the lockdown!

You're back in Thailand? I'm so jealous 😊 Are you staying in the same apartment or did you find a new place? And on that subject are there a lot of places for rent in Chiang Mai and what's the rent like these days?

Great initiative. Joined now, and we will see what happens. I have been working online for about 25 years. I resell professional software. I have experience in all aspects and processes within an online trading company, subscription, and licensing models, which differs significantly from example, dropshipping and consultancy businesses. I would be happy to share my knowledge about these topics.

Nice video. Good to see that you are still cranking out the good content. One little thing tho :) chang = elephant, [not Chiang] When are you coming down to visit and make that video you talked about years back?

Great idea. Seems hotmail accounts dont work, so used my gmail one. Hoping to come over one day. Background in Audio Production, NHS & Third sector & Hospitality/Customer Services. Admittingly, I'm no good at making plans or business. Currently i'm just saving & dreaming, wondering what I can do when over there. Always open to ideas and meeting new people.

Brett, your content has been inspiring and no doubt you have helped hundreds or thousands of people to open their eyes to their circumstances in the West and make major life changes. I'm popping around SE Asia for the next couple months to decide on where to set up home base for at least the next year. I've only been in Bangkok thus far, and while it has tons to offer, I'm questioning whether I need that abundance of people and options in terms of food, shopping, etc. Chiang Mai does not seem lacking in those areas, while also appearing to be much more tranquil. Have you given any serious consideration to moving to Bangkok or the islands, or have you always been sold on Chiang Mai? Thanks so much for your work here on KZbin.

Been to that coffee shop once when I was in Chiang Mai. Also visited Wake Up a coffee a couple of times and Starbucks to do my remote software developer job. What I have realized is, coffee shops are great when you have small projects or your own business to work on. They don't work well though if you have a full-time remote job as a software dev. For the latter, I found coworking spaces like Punspace with 24/7 access and fixed desks a much more convenient place to work. Also, it is worth to mention of the coffee shops that are more popular than Wako bake, tend to be a favorite place for Thai student girls and they go and sit there to study. This can be very distracting as they tend to be good-looking :)

As someone who already works a regular job in a school, what's the entry level for something like copywriting, or editing? I don't mean to relocate, but making extra money is always something that's nice. Perhaps this is the wrong place to ask, but any further information would be great.
