Thanks, Will! Got a new DF-03 project on my channel now if you want to check it out. But thanks a lot for watching.

Love my Dark Impact, got sick of replacing ball diff until I found out other people were using super glue to lock it up. Now running 4000kv 500w brushless with no problems😀
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Ha ha, yeah. With this one I just reassembled and tightened the rear diff after I found out it was melted :-) Works fine for runs that do not involve Racing and important cornering.

Great project, Nordic RC Visions! Like the way you cleaned up the buggy, and we can all appreciate the low-budget approach to the start of the project. Those shocks are sweet - Rob has the same set fitted to his DF-02 and they work just great. The DF-03 is very new to me too, but looks like it will be fantastic off road, with the suspension and ground clearance - impressive (and very brave) jumping on tarmac, but I winced every time I watched at 7:22 as the car goes out of shot... Really enjoyed this one mate, and a big thumbs up - looking forward to the next one :-)
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Thanks, Mark! Yeah, sometimes it’s good to keep it low budget until one knows it’s gonna stay. Liked it so much I got another DF-03 coming up :-) Almost new so I will probably not go any further with this one. I just love these shocks. Got them on my DT-02 (in shorter versions) too and gonna equip my DF-02 and DT-03 with them too. I’m addicted to them :-) And yes, it landed upside down on the front shock tower out of camera. Each time I go here with a buggy that goes more than 30 kmph it goes wrong. Luckily it survived with only a very scratched up front tower but I stopped jumping it at that moment :-)
@MarkBryanRC6 жыл бұрын
Ahh - glad to hear the buggy survived intact :-) Yeah the shocks are great but a little expensive - in a similar way I'm addicted to the Turnigy Trackstar shocks (you have probable noticed!!!) - they are very close in specification and performance to the Tamiyas, but a fraction of the cost. Must get me one of those DF-03s one day :-)

You did a great clean up job mate. Good old soapy water. This really is a seriously good looking buggy. The wheels look good on it too. I remember we discussed these. I still haven't used mine yet. It's a shame they won't fit the DT-03. I Looked up the shocks on Modelsports website. £95 -110 euros, plus post ! I don't pay that for cars ha ha ha. They are good though, and no doubt worth every penny. You did well getting these. I'm really excited to see your new one. : )

WD-40, soap and water is essential when buying second hand models :-) Luckily my new DF-03MS has never been running so only need to get the shelf-dust off her :-) Yeah. I have two DT-02/03 sets and two DF-02/03 sets now. Love them. But I never buy them separately - only together with second hand models. That way the costs are much much less :-)
@aviano726 жыл бұрын
Lovely video ! I love this car, and i agree those shocks are great. Try Traxxas anaconda tyres for road use, although they cost a bit. The ball diffs have to be assembled correctly and i use ceramic balls as they will withstand heat more than the steel ones. I'm also installed a slipper clutch, it helps. The battery and engine compartment are very tight. I have difficult finding a proper brushless motor for it.
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Thanks! You got one? Can’t seem to remember. But yeah, I’m liking this one very much, so I have actually already switched model to a DF-03MS that I purchased from a friend. Only build, never run. Looking forward seeing how it goes with the diffs on that one :-)
@aviano726 жыл бұрын
Yes i got 2. One of them is a MS. Although i don't drive that one. But my runner is full of hop ups so it's very close to the MS except for the shocks.

I've been looking forward to this, nice work and great video. It looks like a very capable setup and nice to drive. I've always been a bit wary of aluminium replacements, I had the shock towers on my DT03 which looked really bad after one tumble. I'll be interested to see how you get on with these parts.
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Grumpy Granddad Stinky’s RC Dump Thanks, Grumpy. Yeah, quite nice set up. Need to sort out the ball diffs. And yeah, I like aluminium c-hubs and such, but shock towers can in some cases, like this with these massive blue ones, destroy the looks and ad a lot of weight. I actually scratched up the front shock tower too on this run. But no worries, as it needs to go whenever I get a new body for it.
@barrysrcdump35576 жыл бұрын
I've started a thread on TC, The DT03 TRF Wannabe. I'm in two minds whether to fit a ball diff, they're pretty cheap from Hong Kong. Some say they're great, some say they're a pain in the butt. I might wait to see your video before I make up my mind. I should imagine it would be ok if it was set-up correctly, otherwise racers wouldn't use them.

Nice video once again, this brings me back with my DF03 when I tried to run a castle cm36 5700kv motor on 3s lipo lol. The rear diff started slipping time & time again, so I fitted the DF03 Slipper Clutch set P/N: 53925. Hop-up Options 3mm Tungsten-Carbide Diff ball set P/N: 53124. Also the rear diff has the two piece diff joint set up. Half plastic & half steel, that have to much play No good for brushless. So I fitted the all steel front diff joints, MJ1 & MJ2. Hope all this helps. Cheers
@NordicRC6 жыл бұрын
Thanks again, buddy! Yeah very useful information, since I just got a DF-03MS. Got a brushless system ready, so any tips are useful :-) I think I will try it stock first, and then see if any problems arise. Seems most people have problems with the rear diff. Either it slips when too loose or it melts when tightened.
